Okposo's play has been less than stellar of late. Heck, it's been downright awful. He's playing with no emotion, no sense of purpose. He's not taking control, not overpowering his forecheck opponents, and not coming back with any speed into the defensive zone. Actually, he's been playing the part of a primadona of late, and I'd wish he'd get back to being that bull that set him apart in the second half of last season and early parts of this season.

You have to feel for the guy, just can't catch a break. It was an innocent play, he's just brittle.

I feel terrible for him. He's a good guy. But his play was awful this year. He even admitted it at one point. He even said he was fearful of getting hurt again. And when you play soft and afraid of contract, it finds you in the worst ways.

Well this sucks. Radek's one of my favorite players on the team, and IMO a very under-rated player (although he was playing poorly this season).

What does this mean for the season? Well we just lost our only legitimate NHL defender not named Mark Streit, so I am lowering our playoff chances to 6% (rather than the previoius 8%).

The problem losing Radek is, despite his poor play, his speed from the backline. It's a shame he's so injury prone. But hopefully the team moves forward in the next 12 months and reloads with at least three new defensemen next season.

Next season? What abt this season? There is garbage at the Bridge in terms of d-men. Myers is no replacement for Radek. Then you have Sutton's yearly season-ending injury any minute now. They need to scour the market for legit d-men NOW.

Let's not bash this guy. He's had bad luck. This done for year thing with the torn acl
was the last thing we needed to hear. Poor guy.
We were better with him in the lineup and now we'll be praying for no more injuries on D.

I just saw how Weight gut hurt in isles pregame show.
2 Dev's hit him cleanly along the boards and he seemed to be slightly favoring his left forearm and or shoulder. Wonder if it's a bruised bicep or shoulder.

Haha . So true.

Sutton is a bright spot in my eyes right now. He is knocking people off their feet and sending them into flight. I love that about hockey. It will be a shame when he goes down with his yearly...

Damn, the glass d-man. Hopefully Radek can come back from this. He may have been playing poorly, but the team was better with him.

Been an Islander fan since the glorious '92-'93 season when I was 11. I am part of the Islander faithful. Some may call us the hopeless, but I will never leave this team so long as they don't leave me.

I think it's safe to say that when Biron gets traded at the deadline (he will), we'll be getting a defensman in return....

If we happen to be in a position to draft Cam Fowler, I hope we do (unless Taylor Hall is available). As many of you know, I was all for the drafting of Tavares over Hedman. We also drafted de Haan. I think drafting a defenseman like Fowler would be the right move. Travis Hamonic is a guy who I really believe could be a top 4 defenseman on this team in the future. de Haan is going to be a top pairing defenseman. If we could add a big body like Fowler, that's 3 young defensemen that will set us up for years to go with Tavares, Okposo, and the others.

But we need more game breakers, too. The cupboard is still not filled enough.
BPA for a lottery team, get lucky in the second round, and go forward from there.
Not writing off the season, but our depth is paper thin.

I know its early, but other than Hall, I believe Fowler is the BPA for the '10 draft. I'm sure that will change 50 times between now and June. If we keep playing like this, it won't matter for us anyway.

Well, a lot of you know I was never a big fan of Radek, but he was playing well the past few weeks, and I am sad to see him go. Yet, I do think Gordon's comments in Newsday were a little over the top.
