Just a suggestion.
I worked on this banner because I felt it captured the essence of "Islanders Country".

I have a 23" screen and when I open up this site larger than than the default, the current banner looks pixelated.

looks pixelated? For a 23" screen, what resolution are you running at?

when I reduce the size of the browser window and shrink the baner, it's crystal clear, but when i expand it, naturally it gets pixelated.

i dig, yeah the banner isnt within a fixed table so as you expand the browser so does the image and at 23" the pic is gonna turn to real crap. But it can also work the other way. Shrinking an image in a table can lead to a pixelated-ish image, so really the best solution is to rework the banner html code at top.

Sorry for completley messing up this thread with code talk.

But aside from that, nice work on the image.

using a higher resolution will work as well and how a file is saved and or exported to jpg can have an affect on quality.

Rockit, just thought of something...
would exporting from an application like Fireworks help since it can export html code?

Steve, I like your banner. It will still yield the same results if you look at it in anything other than 1024. It's set to expand and contract depending on the window and yours will do the same.

Why dont we have a poll and see if the membership would like to change it.

Nick...did you know that you can set the banners to alternate?

There's a code that will do whichever you choose:

A: Randomly put one of the two banners up each time there's a page click.

or

B: Keep alternating them while you're on the page...(i.e. one fades out..the other comes in)

If you want to use them both, let me know and I'll look for the code and put it in there...I think I have it saved somewhere.

I like option A, but you better not even think of doing it until Friday at the earliest. The last thing I want you doing is trying to figure it out on Thanksgiving.

You got it....just found the code, but never tested it.

I'll try it now...so if in the next few minutes the banner doesn't show it's because I'm testing it and trying to work out the rough edges.

Got it...think it's working right now.

Every time you refresh the page, it should change the banner.

That is pretty cool. What about the smaller one with the names? I know, I know, I'm a pain in the ass.

Nick...I updated the ADMIN notes in the ADMIN control panel with the changes I've made to get this random banner code working. You can check the changes I've made there.

If you go through the code, you can see where you can add more banners, or how to change the links to bring up another banner.

Let me know if you need any help in going through it or if you need anything changed back. I saved all the info in the Admin notes so it can be undone if it starts causing any issues with the board working properly.

Shoot...didn't even realize that wasn't showing up..hold on, I'll fix that now..and I'll throw it under both of the banners.

You got me stumped...can't figure out how to do it because the one with the names was a seperate banner altogether...guess I never realized that. You want me to change it back? or is there a way to create the original one with the names include all in one image instead of two?
