c u all tonight :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

CANADA - February 18, 2012 04:28 PM (GMT)
slighty above average game here, in terms of importance.

Sab31 - February 18, 2012 04:36 PM (GMT)
A regulation loss tonight and I would say Garth's mind would be completely made up....even an OT loss....

SAB

Overspeed - February 18, 2012 05:08 PM (GMT)
Will they show up tonight or try to rely on the goalie to steal a win like they have the last 2+ weeks? Poulin in tonight...Nabokov might a 72 hr bug or the Trade Flu.

I see that Poulin has been recalled....is he here to replace Montoya or is Nabby still sick ?

Webb20 - February 18, 2012 05:56 PM (GMT)
I hope Poulin gets the start. We need both points.

Toronto is playing Vancouver who they haven't beat since 2003.

rifleman22 - February 18, 2012 07:17 PM (GMT)
One game at a time, 4 point swing game as they almost all will be. We need scoring. With Poulin in net, which is fine, we can't expect the kid to shut the door in a 2-1 win.

Four goals for us, Less than that for them.

Webb20 - February 18, 2012 07:59 PM (GMT)
Time for JT to wake up put us on his back again and carry us to the promised land.

Time for Snow to let Crapuano bench Snows buddies and at least have a shot for secondary scoring...these are the type of games his buddies were supposed to help us win, right? (or just reach the cap floor lol)..Rolston hasnt shown up in any of the games his veteran leadership and scoring were supposed to help, give Nino the shot on the 3rd line with Bailey & Martin. Play Rolston Pandolfo and Reasoner line all together, we can call it the Garth Snow line. JT cant always do it by himself and cant always carry a team like he did in January.

king glorious - February 18, 2012 11:00 PM (GMT)
lets go islanders. This is a big one of course. Poulin gonna have to play big tonight. I would love for him to make a statement and let everybody know that he is ready for the bigtime. Make nabby expendable.

ronski631 - February 18, 2012 11:54 PM (GMT)
POULIN :punk:

STAOIS SUCKS :angrier:

aries44475 - February 19, 2012 12:06 AM (GMT)
How many times are they going to point out we're undefeated against the Canes this season? I'm a bit superstitious when it comes to stats like that....its like a shutout.

Glad to have MSG+ back on TWC though!

Lets go :isles:

MNIslander13 - February 19, 2012 12:17 AM (GMT)

Way to go KO!!!

Good start.....

JT has been all over the place the first few minutes. He has a great jump to this game so far. I am thinking a big night for him. Great start.

ronski631 - February 19, 2012 12:33 AM (GMT)
Ness....you got a lot to learn, son

Webb20 - February 19, 2012 12:37 AM (GMT)
Just shut up Butch. :fear:

Just STFU.

ronski631 - February 19, 2012 12:58 AM (GMT)
Howie wants to make a trade to get Skinner. He thinks the Isles should offer Reasoner.

Garth would Love to make that trade :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

stevedepot - February 19, 2012 01:01 AM (GMT)
I agree with Ronski, Staois sucks.

That inability of Ness to turn back and get in position after releasing that shot/pass that wound up in a 2 on 1 is a clear sign of rookie mistake.
No biggie, lets see if he learns from it down the road.

What bugs me is how our overall defense is so SLOW.
Just saw the poor play by Eaton right there, down 2-1.
Ugh...oh well...top 5 draft pick is the consolation.
yipee!!!

Overspeed - February 19, 2012 01:04 AM (GMT)
Sounds like the Isles showed up for the first few minutes....need a coach to wake them up. Thank you JT!....now someone else step up and help the guy out!

stevedepot - February 19, 2012 01:06 AM (GMT)
What a power move by Tavares.
2-2

Love seeing that!!!

This trade wouldn't happen cause Garth only wants 2/3rd picks...has to build on the cheap....err....the draft.

WOW.....did this team just tic-tac-toe them to a PP goal??? Niiicceee!!!

Thats what I thought too, they should do that more often, less shots blocked when you one time or tic tac toe it

Steve, totally off topic but how is Mayfield doing? I read little blurbs about him in the prospect roundup but its usually just stats. Haven't had a chance to see him play this season. I think he's one of our more important prospects being that he has size AND mobility.

Overspeed - February 19, 2012 01:21 AM (GMT)
We are rapidly seeing how much better Nabakov is than any of our other goalies, though I still think Poulin is the future. And this last goal was not his fault. Go ahead deal him for a 4th rounder.

I haven't seen him play either.
He's several years away last I remember.
That other kid, Pedan who was great in the prospects game should be ready sooner.
2 big defensemen for our future.

Poulin has the physical skills and he's raw. Problem is I'm not seeing any improvement over last season's performance. Not that it's really a problem I guess. He's still very young. Plenty of time to get polished. Get to work Sudsie.

Everytime Sudsie gets to work, our goalies get injured.

Another problem, instead of someone like Billy Smith as our goaltending coach like he was a few years ago, we have Sudsie AKA, DPs personal goalie coach & Dunham who sounds like he is just collecting a paycheck, if he is even still in the organization. Poulin is young and needs more time...Snowman we agree on Poulin :D but Nabakov is head and shoulders above anything we have had since Osgood..and we are seeing the HUGE difference between "actual" and "potential".
PS Jurcina sucks.

Yeah I like Pedan. He's also got size and mobility and from all accounts a pretty good mean streak. I recently came across a preseason list of the top pro prospects in NCAA. Went through them all, seemed sort of legit. Out of 12 or 13 players Mayfield was on there. So was Anders Lee. Brock Nelson was not. For comparison Kreider was ahead of all of them at #3. Had no qualms with them passing on Dougie Hamilton as long as they got some big D late. So far so good with Mayfield and Pedan.

DP's All-Star year they actually had a real goalie coach.....can't remember his name but he only lasted that one season. It could have been coincidence but I thought that was when DP looked at his best.

I was praising the snot out of Snow for this past years draft.
Besides Strome, getting that swedish kid was great too.
Almost got all positive again to dream that we'd spend but I knew better when the DP health media push started that we were effed yet again and doomed with a low budget payroll.

Our current defense is great t collapsing on the house (crease) and blocking shots because their inability at muscling off the opposition with strength/mobility is collectively lacking.
Even more evident without Hamonic.

I'm not a Sudsie fan but he is well respected in the goalie community league wide. Apparently his developmental goalie camps are popular. But whatever. It's not uncommon though for minor league goaltenders to not be coached. If you remember when Montoya came here, he said Phoenix's goalie coach was Sean Burke and he hardly ever saw him in his three years there. The Isles aren't so bad in that regard.

And yeah Staios, Eaton, Jurcina, Rolston, and Reasoner all blow. Imagine if we had real NHLers in their place? One can dream...

Osgoods Goalie Coach while on Isles under Lavvy was...Billy Smith...ironically Billy Smith was the Goalie Coach in 1993 and 2002, the last 2 "good years" in Islanders history...and Billy Smith was Luongos goalie coach in Fla.
