I posted it here yesterday.
now because he's a decorated hero and cop we are to assume he didn't mouth off?
need to know more facts.
http://z11.invisionfree.com/IslanderCountr...ic=3354&st=3280there's alot of rangers fans on facebook, message boards and just in general going crazy over this incident.
YES Flyers, large portion have ZERO class however Rangers fans are not that far behind.
This is the same fanbase that rocked an ambulance with an injured LaFontaine trying to be rushed to the hospital back in the 80's.
pot/kettle both are black eyes in the sportsworld.

The NHL should have known fan clashes between these bases was inevitable, and if they didn't they are more stupid than the fans. Both sets are so classless that whatever happened between them was deserved by all.

Filthadelphia fans are the worst garbage in all of sports. Not just hockey. They make boston and ny fans look like boy scouts.
stevedepot - January 5, 2012 08:40 PM (GMT)
I read somewhere that some Philly fans paid a homeless guy working the streets
to spray something on the rag fan and that's what started the altercation.
words then fists.
men hopped up on testosterone and forgetting all family, responsibility and most of all civility.
They can say how much of a decorated cop or whatever, maybe Shanahan can have a video response to this crap.
I have many a sad story from many visits to MSG back in the 70's and 80's involving myself a couple of times and mostly others I witnessed.
The Rangers fans on their high horses today need to just STFU before calling all of Philly fans classless.

I have only one thing to say about this (besides that I do not condone random, excessive violence, even for Flyers or Rangers fans)....

(Nice Ron Burgundy reference btw)

Whatever set of fans they are, this is shameful. It's a hockey game. However, after spending many years as a STH and seeing the garbage that comes into NVMC from both groups, it's not surprising. I do believe as a group Philly fans are worse, IMHO after dealing with them over the years.

okay, I'll be honest here...when I first saw the newsclip on tv..I couldn't help but smile...and the father speaking on behalf of his son..priceless.. :rotflmao:

What amazes me is that the Philly police didn't think to have cops stationed at a landmark like Gino's after the game. They should have known RAgs fans would try to go there or the joint across the street, which if I'm not mistaken is more than a mile from the arena.
Both a bunch of idiots and what a shock that something like this would happen when they are drinking up a storm for hours while waiting for the game to start.
Both idiot fan bases.

The point is there are 3 dudes in orange beating a dude who's already on the ground.

But the dude on the ground is a ranger?
:P
I hear you. More info today on this. Seems the Flyers fans who did this, one of them bragged on a facebook fan site and even threatened other Flyers fans who denounced his and his friends actions.
Sad. Everyone is using this one incident that happened to be filmed and posted as a vehicle to express their angers against (insert issue here).
This kind of crap happens whether people wear sports jersey's or not.
When you get cowards who grow balls thanks to (big brother syndrome) being with their friends and empowered by numbers they act out their frustrations in life by assaulting others.
I4C
Also, I don't think we could blame the police for this. Things like this happen so fast and can happen anywhere. It's a case of a few guys being a-holes.

Remember, a person is smart, but people can be very dumb.

I don't blame the Police for an event like this happening. I'm just amazed that there were no cops there at Ginos. Everyone knows that people go there before and after games to get cheesestakes and you know out of towners are going to go.
I was up there for an Isles - Flyers game about 5 seasons ago and despite the fact the Flyers were bad that season and the arena was not that filled (I saw a bunch of people from this site at the game including Webby who were sitting in the upper deck) prior to the game we went to Gino's and there were 5 cops walking the sidewalk.
I don't blame the cops. People are stupid...like webby said and I'm sure stupid people will do this crap even if they were there. But a cop presense will cut down on some of it.
Then again, the DA of Philly who went on to be governor was paying people 100 bucks to throw snowballs at Jimmy Johnson when the Cowboys were in town in the 90's so perhaps I'm wrong. Perhaps the cops would have gone Rodney King on the Rags fans. :dontknow:
