According to Strang, only Tambellini and Bailey to morning skate, rest of team off.
I expect both of them back in the lineup.
I'd be shocked if Schremp is in the lineup tonight and expect him to be one of the guys sitting. But which other forward sits to allow Bailey back in?
ronski631 - November 14, 2009 08:10 PM (GMT)
no more lazy hockey, please!!!!!
Islander4cups - November 14, 2009 11:50 PM (GMT)
Let's get these two points. This Florida team is a franchise going no where and will look to deal their goalie by the deadline to get young kids. Take advantage and get these 2 points without the need of a shootout or OT.
Though I guess all the OT is good for the kid's development because it means more icetime each night
stonedcold39 - November 14, 2009 11:56 PM (GMT)
Just saw Schremp going on to the ice. There is no way he deserves to play. Anywho, LETS DO THIS!

He's no Deb Kaufmann, but I have to admit. I'm liking this Rob Carlin.
Effective is a word that comes to mind. Professional too.

Some quick start, I like it! 1-0 Isles after 16 seconds!

clebo99 - November 15, 2009 12:16 AM (GMT)
Wow!!!! 2-Nil!!!
And a Time Out by the Panthers!!!
stevedepot - November 15, 2009 12:18 AM (GMT)
Bailey looks good so far. 2-0 start.
I also like the 2 faceoffs Tavares took...seems to be continuing his preference for attacking the stick first and winning it on quick second effort rather than going for straight win on speed. Great hands.
stoutofheart - November 15, 2009 01:08 AM (GMT)
Still looking good a few minutes into the 2nd period. Nielsen seems to be getting some decent ice time, too.

Ugh, two quick ones get the Panthers tied 2-2 in short order. WTF?!?
2 goals in 31 seconds.

Bad penalty by Bergenheim.

Again, the opposing team raises their level of play and we don't raise ours nor try to match their intensity by finishing checks.
Stick checks, poke checks and the usual chasing and running around that leads to goals against.
2-0 lead turns into a 2-3 deficit.

I wholeheartedly agree. It's very frustrating watching professional athletes basically 'phoning' it in rather than recognizing what they do that fails them and correcting it.
They're not doing anything physical. Not taking the body, much less finishing the check. They will lose if they try to play this pansy energy level.
Shooter - November 15, 2009 01:53 AM (GMT)
It will be hard for this team to win consistently with defensemen like Gervais and Meyer out there. Each has difficulty clearing the zone. On the second goal, Meyer was completely outmuscled. Before the third goal, he coughed up the puck four times in our own zone, giving the Panthers more momentum. Perhaps conditioning is a problem too as the team seems to be wearing down earlier now. The amazing part is how has this team stayed so competitive.

Tavares again with that quick stick faceoff 1-2 win...
stick-block win-back...
Okposo with a good shot through traffic.
Man, you just don't what will happen with this team.
  :worthy:

What a BS effort tonight. Show up for 20 minutes on a team that shows no life and then stop skating for the next 30 minutes. Just FFFFing brilliant.
And the coaching was clueless as well. Even though we scored, wtf was Kyle Okposo doing on the bench on our 3rd goal which was a PP goal. Seriously, we are sitting KO and putting a forward line of Tavares, Trent Hunter and Franz Neilsen on the ice? Great coaching Gordo. Just as ffffing brilliant as having Sim go in the shootout BEFORE Streit in the Washington game.
This was a terrible effort in every part of the organization tonight. If it were a home game, I'd blame the parking attendants as well.

the performance, for the most part, was lame. yet another super weak 2nd period. 1st half of the 3rd was awful b4 the tavares goal.
sim plays like sh!t.
gervais is offically back on my sh!t list.
thompson skates on sh!t.
whatever. get boston over with.

oh well, atleast we got a point... :yea:
another game. another learning curve. :dontknow:
stoutofheart - November 15, 2009 03:16 AM (GMT)
Fracking one-trick ponies!!!!! Do they know any other way to approach during a shootout!
I hate the damn shootout! I was angry when the NHL talked about introducing it, I was even more angry when they actually did it and now I'm furious every time they use it to decide a game!
Half of the Islanders games have had to go into extra play. What is so wrong with regulation? What is so hard about winning in 60 minutes? So many other teams in the league seem to be able to accomplish a definitive result after an hour of hockey, why can't the Isles?
I used to appreciate ties. While it's nice to have a winner and a loser, sometimes two teams put forward such a great effort on both ends of the ice that it's a shame one has to go home with a loss. The flip side (The Islander side?) is that two teams may not play a full three periods of hockey and neither really deserves the win or the two points. Can't we just chalk this up to a failed experiment and get back to five minutes of OT? Keep the 4-on-4 to open up the ice and allow for more break-out plays, I don't have a problem with that. Just get rid of this BS excuse of a fair decision making method. No way does a team sport deserve to be whittled down to a one-on-one skills competition! What happened to the other 17 skaters on the bench? Do they no longer count? And, when they're depleted, do they allow the back-up goalies to each take a run down the ice in the shootout? So silly! I miss Old Time Hockey.

Feel bad for Roli in the shootout. Except for the Caps game, he's shown he's incapable of handling this part. And I agree about the coaching. He really doesn't have a clue how to use his players. Enough of Sim, please. He doesn't add ONE thing to the game. At least Thompson can kill penalties. But he's tough to stomach. And Gervais and Meyer were horrific again, though Meyer tops the list tonight.

Absolutely, Sims needs to sit. But the person that needs to take the season off is Gervais. enough with this experiment - he is what he is - a 7th d-man and will not get any better.
In my eyes, lets bring up Mcdonald and see what we havebwith him. According to Botta, he tops out as a top 4 d-man which is much higher than Gervais. If I was coach and Gervais took that penalty, he would not see the ice any more. Our coach does not believe in benching struggling players?
Plus, his decision to start sim over Tambellini probably cost us a point tonight.

So Tambellini sitting is a healthy scratch? If it is, wow.
clebo99 - November 15, 2009 04:11 AM (GMT)
Its very rare when each team blows a 2 goal lead. Again, we are getting points on the road. That is key. Sure it would have been nice to get 2 points but this is still fine.....

Wow...imagine if we skated at all from the beginning of the second period to the 10:00 mark of the third. We would have had 2 points. :o :o :o
Or is it cool to just be complacent losing in OT to a team that practically handed us the lead after 20 minutes, but we handed it back in the next 30? :nono:
BTW- Florida is the third worst team in the conference. Getting one point after having a 2 goal lead is not a good thing. They absolutely sux and we gave two points to them and gave away the other we should have had.
I'll NEVER be happy with that sort of effort.
LEDZEP - November 15, 2009 06:18 AM (GMT)
The fact that this team has 21 points after 20 games is a lake placid miracle
within itself.
I give them credit.
If and when Mr.15 returns and forces Isles to get rid off 1 of the current goalies
then that will be for another post.

It is true and I think some have lost sight that this team was supposed to be in the bottom 5. I never thought last like some pundits had predicted. I've been frustrated with some things lately like our 2nd periods but we all know many of these guys would not be on the rosters of other teams in the top half of the league. Sim and Bruno should not be in the league, let alone get key minutes like Bruno does and then, others like Meyer, Thompson, Jackman, though they try should not be starters either.
Anyways, we are in the 7th spot today and, though, some teams have games in hand, I am happy with the results, though not necessarily how the results are always obtained. Still don't think Gordon is the man long term but the guy does have a team with very little talent in a playoff spot and a winning record at the quarter mark.
