This clip includes Mike Bossy's one and only NHL fight, versus Behn Wilson---no goon but definitely one tough hombre. It starts around 1:25 or so. It gets the Isles so riled up that even amiable Chico leaves the crease to join the fracas. And look at Nystrom fly in there. Awesome.
I haven't clicked on the Gillies-Hospodar clip but I assume it's their fight at MSG, the four punch fight in which Gillies puts Hospodar to sleep. The most devastating fight clip I've ever seen. Hospodar's reaction after the third punch reminds me of Kevin Steven's reaction when he hit Pilon early in game 7 of the '93 PDF and landed nose first on the ice. Scary.
Needless to say the physical element is almost completely absent from the current Islanders team. Glad Sutton and Witt are there, just to keep a few opposition players honest. It amazes me that a team that has lost its last two serious playoff runs to foul play (1993, 2002) doesn't do more to develop tough, aggressive hockey players.

Totally agree....while they will never win the scoring title, guys like Cairns, Webb and Asham were great for this team and we need more guys that that. Someone to scare the other team a little.
How great was it when we had Bambaugner and Vukota at the same time?!?! That was like Probert and Kocur.

That wasn't hockey. That was a disgrace. AS were the Flyers of that era, a complete embarrassment to the sport. Reminds me of the trash that comes from Philadelphia to watch their team play at the NVMC.

WHAT DISGRACE?
MY POINT WAS HOW THEY HAD EACH OTHERS BACK
EVEN BOSSY AND RESCH THROWING HANDS
NOT LIKE TODAY WHEN SOME WILL GRAB ON
OTHERS LOOK TO THE CATWALK LOOKING TO SEE WHAT BIRDS ARE MIGRATING
WHAT THE BIMBETS ARE WEARING
WHAT TIME IS IT
ETC ETC

The Flyers of that era were a disgrace, an embarrassment. I doubt any of them could play in today's game since interference, holding, hitting from behind are all penalities now.
