CQB fighting: Having gone through basic training before becoming a mechanic, Henry learned more advanced tactics when it comes to fighting, though he was a solid fighter before joining the military. Given the nature of his work as a mechanic though and having to operate heavy machinery often, he's stronger than the average man and tends to use brute force when in a fight.

Pistols/shotguns: Henry learned to shoot given the nature of his work, and is an average gunman when it comes to most firearms. He personally prefers using shotguns and pistols though, and has thus trained with them the most and most proficient at using them.

Explosives: While he only served in the military as a mechanic, Henry's uncle was a former combat engineer who taught Henry the basics of explosives when he was a teen. Henry learned more over the years, having used explosives on a number of occasions to distract authorities, slow foes down, or outright destroy enemy forces.

Mechanics: Henry always loved machines, he would constantly try to tinker with machines for fun as a teen. Unlike many of his friends, he chose not to join the military and instead went to school to become a starship mechanic. He has a good understanding of most engine systems and can diagnose a ship, vehicle, or device's problems with ease, and fix them just as easily if he's lucky.

Biography: Born into one of the Federal Republic of Earth's many bustling metropolis's Henry lived a relatively tough life in his early years. Living in one of the poorer districts of Manhatten, Henry followed in the footsteps of his father, learning how to fix and repair various types of machines and cars, and eventually small-scale starship equipment.

Helping his father as a mechanic didn't help their family enough though, so as a teen Henry resorted to crime, joining up with the local organized crime rackets that would smuggle illegal tech and other supplies around the city. He would also repair any damaged vehicles that the crime syndicate had, quickly gaining a reputation for being reliable. As he turned 18, Henry realized that not only would he be unable to even get into the local community colleges, but that his family's economic condition was getting worse-off after one of his brothers lost a hand during an accident. Realizing they needed more money, he started working as an enforcer and a loan shark for the next three years in order to raise money and hopefully get them out of the slums.

Things went bad though when Henry and a couple of loan sharks got caught in the middle of a crossfire between their debtors (local drug pushers) and a heavily armed police force. Barely surviving the encounter, Henry decided that he had to straighten up, but needed a job that could help provide for his family. Knowing he had good mechanical skills, could hold his own in a fight, and shoot fairly well, he decided to join the Navy like his uncle had years ago. He quickly made it through basic training and managed to become starship mechanic, repairing and maintaining vital systems on warship and fixing up damaged fighters.

He served with the Navy as a mechanic for 5 years, and over that time the money he earned and sent home to his family managed to help pay off any debts they owed and they were able to move out of the city. Despite his family being safe and stable and still making decent pay, Henry grew tired of working for the Navy. Mechanics and tech were still his passion and he loved getting to work on some of the most advanced ships in the system, but the plethora of rules and regulations he had to follow were too much. To him, the service was too restrictive, and he yearned for the lack of oversight he enjoyed while working for the crime syndicate in his neighborhood, despite the conditions he lived in then.

After a formal discharge at the end of his tour of duty, Henry spent a good year moving around from city to city, looking for job as a mechanic but finding no lasting, good opportunities. Now, he finds himself in New Shanghai with no job, partially regretting giving up his job in the Navy as well, hoping that by some miracle he'll get lucky.

Just say he's from the Federal Republic of Earth, served in the Navy for a while as mechanic, didn't like the bad pay and all the rules, so left to go freelance and is currently looking for work. This will lead to your first post in the first topic. IE: he's in a bar, looking for a ship to work on.
