File > New > 500x500
Make your Foreground colour #444444 and make your Background colour #111111
Get your Gradient Tool and Drag from top to bottom while holding Shift. Create a new layer. Get the Eplipse Tool ( Its a Shape Tool and may be hidden under the Rectangular Shape Tool )
Hold Shift and Draw a Circle at about 1/4 of the document's size and in the middle. CTRL+Click on that Circle layer to select it, now grab the Gradient Tool and hold shift and drag from top to bottom of the selection. With the selection still on, Create a new Layer and go to Edit > Stroke
Make it 1 px and the colour #111111 and Click OK.
Press CTRL+D to deselect.
This is What You Should Have. ( Click )On the Circle Layer, open up the Blending Options. Copy these settings:
Blending Options for CircleNow get the Text Tool at 72px with Arial and Bold and Smooth , Type " >>> " without the Quotes.
Now, Layer > Rasterize > Type
Now, Edit > Transform > Rotate Counter Clockwise 90 Degrees
Now, Edit> Free Transform
Hold ALT and Click and Drag one of the sides outwards until you have something like this:
See HereNow go to the Blending Options on the layer we just made.
Colour OverlayInner GlowInner ShadowBevel And EmbossNow you should have something like this:
Click to ViewCTRL+Click on the Circle Layer and Create a new layer. Now you should have a blank new layer with the selection of the other layer showing. Change your Foreground colour to White ( #FFFFFF ) and select the Rectangle Tool and Hold Shift and drag from the very top ' symbol ' and drag to half way down , still on the top ' symbol and press CTRL+D to deselect. Change that layer's Opacity to 35%. You should have something like below:
Click To ViewNow we are going to clean it up and apply it to the other ' symbols '.
Zoom in to get up close to the ' white shine ' layer and get a soft eraser brush using 9px. Change the brush's Opacity to 50%. Use the eraser and erase nearly all of the white that is covering the black at the top like below:
Click To ViewSee how the Inner Shadow now overlaps the White Shine? Thats what that last step was about. Now Duplicate that White Shinew Layer 2 more times and Position each them on the other 2 symbols just like to top one. This is what you should have by now:
Click To ViewNow click on Layer 1 (The Original Circle Layer ) and then Create a new Layer so that is it right on top of Layer 1.
Now, with the Foreground colour still White, get the Elipse Tool and make an oval like below:
Click To ViewNow go to Edit > Free Transform and drag the sides out and make it like so:
Click To ViewJust Change that Layer's Opacity to 13% and you're finished. For the background, I did the exact same shine effect.
