Small framed arabic brute stood calmly watching the dying sun calmly. He sighed softly in longing. This was all he saw of the sun since the night of his birth. How he longed to see the sun.
His banner lashed over his flanks ridding himself of the bothersome insects. His dished crown was tossed high as he scanned his land quickly. Another soft sigh escaped his maw. Such a lonely land. He was the only one that dwelled here any more. Ah well, he'd visit his sib soon enough anyways. She was probably feeling the same as him anyways.
He tossed his dial high once more and released a piercing whistle.
The Lord of the Undead has come forth.

Small and fleet, I darted amongst the trees. I dared not stay long within the borders of these lands of his. I'd only ever seen him from afar, never close enough to truly take him in. Word had sifted through lands far and wide of the King who would take a mortal bride. Only two, the words instantly planted themselves in my mind. A year had passed before I'd decided I had to see him. Now here I was, and I shook the distracting thoughts from my head as I came to a quiet halt.

My bodice quivered as I took in the breathtaking sight before me. At this time, the sun was hardly visible, one of my many reasons for venturing out at this time. He was watching it. His lithe frame shifted with a sigh. How lonely the Night King seemed. The others had thought me foolish, telling me I was out for my death. This was not death, though if I lingered much longer it could be. For those few excruciating moments I absorbed a great pleasure and a great sorrow. Then, I started violently at his keen, turning in a fury to escape should he discover me.

Never had I run so quickly, and I hoped desperately it would not be the last.

Armand's harks flicked gently hearing the tramp of hooves on his land after his wail had faded. His dial spun quickly wondering who was in his land. He figured it to be some youngling or something playing a dare. Mortal games mayhaps. See who could get the closest to the emperor without him noticing.
His gaze scoured the land curiously and caught sight of a flickering shape fleeing from his general direction. His harks pricked forward in curiousity. It was much to big to be a foal, or at least one to be playing games like this. He felt an urge to give chase, but maybe that wouldn't be a good idea. After all, he was known as a vampire so that could just make the other run faster.
Fine, he'd settle for a little less. He opened his maw again and neighed out loudly. A rather welcoming one, hopefully that would work.

I came to an abrupt halt as the questioning trumpet fell on very alert ears. I was torn. Proceed to flee? Or possibly walk back to that pristine face and die? He was a diplomat, right? I'd probably be fine. I turned to look over my shoulder, wistful. What's the true worst that could happen? I winced and went for most logical instead. He'd have me leave. The Earth was calm. Nothing upset the Great Mother today. I turned on my haunches, a quiet sound escaping my lips, far too low to be heard at a distance. Did I dare?

Yes. I did. I'd come this far. I'd gazed at his figure, and the vision still burned behind my eyelids whenever I blinked. What was it exactly that struck me about this brute? Stallions were stallions no matter their lifespan, no? Before I'd completely made up my mind about it, my limbs moved forward as if from their own will. No. I had known from the beginning that if he discovered me I would have gone to him. He had not a single ounce of knowledge pertaining to me, and here I was silly over him. What a fool I was.

My hesitant footfalls turned into an anticipatory two-beat. I slowed at the point I knew I would come into his view. What would he think of me? I was young, and clearly not very smart. I fretted a little at his first impression of me, but I collected myself and stepped out of the trees. Wide-eyed and a little ashamed, I stood within his view but still a bit of distance away. Far more than what I could play off as "respectful distance," even for royalty. I froze, I hadn't thought of what to say. I opened and closed my maw a few times before settling for lowering my delicate head to knee level, a gesture I hoped he took for what it was. Submission, but also apology. I'd been caught in what I hoped would be a spot and run. I could only hope he was not as cruel as many mortals claimed.

Armand's orbs glanced around curiously wondering if the form would return or continue to flee. His long banner flicked over his haunches as he stood calmly. He wasn't starving for a meal and even if he was, he had a thing about feeding from other equines. It wouldn't be right for the ruler to feed from his subjects. Even if they offered when he needed it he only took enough to abate the thirst and never enough to kill. He never even drank from another equine to kill infact.
His attention drifted around him and caught the flicker again of the form as it came back. His slim harks tipped forward as his frame turned towards it. He eyed the mare calmly when he saw her clearly. He watched her movements calmly wondering a little why she had stopped so far away and then lowered her dial so much.
"Why are you wandering here?" He asked simply. There was no harshness in his tone, or reprimand, simply curiousity. A grown mortal mare wandering his terra that was not his half-sib. What else would you expect from him?

I cringed at his question. Of all the things he could ask me, I could not reply to that one in a positive way. I was losing before ever gaining a win. I sighed, contemplating which was worse; making myself look like a fool or being obstinate. I decided to go with honesty. I never was terrific at lying, and to attempt it would be...foolish at best. What he would think of me weighed heavily on my mind as I opened my maw to speak to him again.

"I-I wanted to see you." My auds flicked back as I grimaced again. The words grated on my mind and sounded even worse to me out loud. My cocoa colored eyes closed as I tried to explain myself. "Many talk of you, from lands far over. I couldn't believe many of the rumors that were going around, not with how well you care for your younger sister...." I looked up at him, afraid he would be angry at the way some had spoken of him. Would I go down as being the one to bring the Emperor's wrath down upon her own people?

I shook my head infinitesimally, trying to draw myself out of my, as yet, unjustified panic. I had already given him the benefit of the doubt, and there was no going back now. I waited for his reply, terrified I had made some folly along the way.

His slim harks had flicked around atop his skull as listened about himself and the odd mortal infront of him. His orbs however remained on the mare. She was truly odd in his view. Roaming his own lands without a care it almost seemed, yet she did know who he was. Things just kept getting stranger and stranger it seemed.
He sighed gently, before she spoke the first time and once her words where recognized, flicked forward to listen to her. She had just wanted to see him? Did he have a stalker? Or perhaps she was going to assissnate him? He doubted that last one, but he's been known to be wrong before, and it wouldn't have surprised him if he was wrong this time.
"What do they say of me?" He said calmly, now no tone of anger or anything could be heard in his tone. Perhaps curiousity, more than likely so. After all, it was about him, and by her own words she doubted they could be too good and probably condemned him.
He sighed softly. Ah yes, the firstborn of Celeste to that bastard Lestat. It wasn't like he'd wanted to be apart of a ruling line or anything, and he certainly wouldn't have wanted to be apart of this one. At least the peace had been kept somewhat, though he had a feeling it probably wouldn't last long. An upstart or perhaps a group would come seeking his 'crown', not like he wouldn't just step down, but he had to care for his sister, simple as that.
