While he was down, the iron giant struck The Blur with its large metal fist. Clark, however, did not experience a great deal of pain. Zatanna had cast another magic spell which took effect at a very slow pace but happened nonetheless. The metal surface on the super-weapon started to grow rusty and before too long, the orange-red substance was visible all across its body. It was just about time the two superheroes ended the fight that had been going on for far too long. The Man of Steel raised his arms and, with all of his might, lifted the heavy mass that crushed him above his head and revealed that he was not hurt. Once it was raised high enough above his head, Clark tossed it up and took to the air with both of his fists closed and extended in the direction in which he started to fly. The costumed crime-fighter plowed right through the rusted forearm that was extended forward with the intention of defeating the Man of Steel, delivering a blow with such impressive force that it should have been enough to break through the now-vulnerable metal. Once his first attack had been made, Clark looked down to observe that the mistress of magic had no longer been standing. It seemed that her magic drained her of her stamina very quickly, giving the superhero not very long on the battlefield before she was fatigued.
It was up to Clark now; he had to face the metal titan by himself until Zatanna could recover enough of her stamina to get back up and continue to aid him and Metropolis City. The woman dressed in black was on the ground below him, seemingly unable to move herself from the spot where she had collapsed, but Clark could not worry about her right away. Still suspended in the air below the giant robot, Clark noticed that its particle cannon had been charging again (as suggested by the growing white light and the hum of the gargantuan firearm). Since it was hard enough to stop the weapon from firing the first time, the Man of Steel thought that facing another second attack executed by the same armament would only be too dangerous for he city to endure. Clark flew towards the cannon at impressive speeds, landing himself on the shoulder of the tall terror and placing himself just under the cannon barrel. Both of his arms were used to lift the weapon higher so that it could not be angled towards Zatanna and Metropolis City. It required a lot more effort to move it since the motors were forcing the cannon in the direction of its target, but Clark did not give up. He lifted the enormous item with all of his might, determined to see it move in order to not only protect the mistress of magic from certain death, but his beloved city as well.
