the person;

full name: adriano rocco vivaldi
nickname(s): none
age: 726 (the appearance of 22)
sexual orientation: bisexual

race: vampire
family: valpas

the look;

hair: dark brown
eyes: light brown
height: five foot nine inches
weight: one hundred and fifty seven pounds
general appearance: Adriano carries himself tall and casually. He is easily approachable and not very intimidating. He is more or less in something like a white button up shirt, black slacks and a black vest. He has been seen to wear more casual clothes like jeans and t-shirts, but he feels out of place in them. His shoes more match his usual attire also, they are polished black leather shoes and on the occasion he is wearing jeans, he has a pair of black high top Converse from the 80’s. His clothes always fit tightly on him; he hates loose clothing and therefore generally sleeps in his “day” clothes only to change the next night.

His physical characteristics include the following; the cut of his hair (which is down around his ears and can be made to fit the style of the century), very subtle stubble appears over his chin, the thick but groomed eyebrows above his light brown eyes, the pale (but with an undertone of tan) skin that envelopes his bones and blood, the crooked nose of his younger years and the small ears that he inherited from his mother. His fangs never grew too long, so they aren’t hard to conceal and look rather charming on his grin. His fingers are long and he has a firm grip but not an overpowering hand. Any vampire’s skin can be described as soft as silk and simply pore-less. Adriano is no exception. His skin is as hard as marble but soft like feathers and as smooth as water. He is well toned and obviously with the strength of a vampire which can over power any human at any given time.

over-all personality: Adriano is a very caring and “motherly” sort of character. He is never one to over-look anyone for any reason and will always be as helpful as he can. He feels that’s what he’s there for, to teach in a way and to take care of people until they understand how to do it themselves. Occasionally he can get down to smothering level; it happens when he is really fond of the said person. Fond in a sort of “I want something serious between us” manner. He becomes very touchy feely and becomes very excited and happy. He’s easily manipulated when he’s in that mood. Adriano loves the when people come around him; he’s been alone for a long time and revels in the company of others. He’s generally a people pleaser and loves to see the ones around him strive and succeed.

Of course, anyone can push his buttons. He doesn’t like when people are taken advantage of. It completely outrages the man. He’ll go ballistic and either while you’re in a head lock or before he breaks your spine, he’ll give you a damn good lecture on how inconsiderate and horrible you are. That has to be an extreme case of course. But he never takes much of that lightly; he’ll always get in someone’s face for their ignorance and cruelty. Adriano has strength beyond the human scope of things and will use it if he’s forced into defending someone. He isn’t ever looking for a fight, but defending people comes naturally to him and as of late, he’s been forced into a few fights.

This vampire has gone through his personal state of depression and never wishes to return to it. It was a dark time for himself and his poor victims. Adriano doesn’t really get sad unless it’s for obvious reasons such as a death of a friend or something. However he finds himself always looking on the bright side of things, even if it is death. And that of all things is a touchy subject for any vampire because they are the bringer of it but have never experienced it themselves. Although anyone alive couldn’t tell you what it’s like to die, but they have their faiths to fall back on. The concept of Heaven and Hell. But when you’re the walking dead, your views can change rapidly. The meaning of life suddenly becomes the all important question. Though a human going through depression might ask themselves and end up with suicide as their number one option, a vampire has forever and an infinite number of sources to check. Adriano went through this and came to his own private conclusion. Now he stays far away from anything to cause that kind of numbness in him again.

the background;

parents: Matteo and Paola Vivaldi (deceased)
sibling(s): Bianca Vivaldi (deceased)
relationship with family: Adriano got along quite well with his family, for the most part anyway. Paola was his mother, and he was very close to her until the day she died from giving birth to his little sister Bianca. He had basically been a “mama’s boy” but he didn’t care what the other kids thought because he knew his mother needed as much help as she could get. He was very insightful for a little boy.

Adriano and his father were a different story. They didn’t hate each other by any means, but Matteo was hard on Adriano the dreamer. He often put Adriano to work even though he really should’ve been taking care of Bianca. This made him rather bitter towards his father but he loved him regardless.

Bianca and Adriano were very close even though she was five years younger than he was. He kept a close eye on her and took care of her. Of course people in the village would’ve helped out too, but Adriano knew he could do things himself and felt a responsibility for his little sister.
over-all history: In 1266 Adriano Rocco Vivaldi was born into a small village somewhere in nondescript Italy. He was a bright shining beacon for the Vivaldi family. Matteo had begged for a boy and Paola was happy to just be carrying a child. It seemed the family’s difficult times would be helped along by this little miracle. Matteo hadn’t counted on Adriano turning out to be ahead of his time though. Adriano wanted to read and write; he was a dreamer. His father condemned him for this, especially after Paola died and left them with a baby girl named Bianca. Adriano needed to be working for the family, not coming up with fictional stories that meant little to anyone and didn’t put food on the table or clothes on their backs. Adriano’s childhood was cut short very quickly. He was forced to grow up against his will. He didn’t resent this completely though, he cared for his little sister with all the fibers of his small being.

He cared for Bianca for almost all of his life, when he was nineteen and she was fourteen, she found someone to live with though. A handsome man who cared for her just the way Adriano did, and could provide for her something that Adriano could not, a physical and romantic relationship. Adriano let his sister go, there father had no say in this one. Matteo had died from disease. Adriano was on his own now and taking care of his mother’s garden and his father’s fields and house. He hated this life so thoroughly though. And someone who changed his life forever knew this.

Adriano had been having trouble sleeping. He was dreaming about his mother dying again in childbirth and the loss and emptiness he felt afterwards. He woke up and went outside for some fresh night air. A pale figure emerged from the shadows around the corner of his house and Adriano found himself grabbing the pitch fork that was right next to the door frame. It was utterly useless though. The monster had a hold of him and was draining all his blood out of him. The feel was so dizzying, Adriano barely kept his eyes open as he clung desperately to the figure who was taking his life. He had what felt like thick needles in his throat, a tongue lapping at the blood around the wound while it became sorer from the lips sucking at it. It was a horrible feeling and it didn’t seem to end. The pale figure then tore away before Adriano completely collapsed and died. He slashed at his own throat and forced it to Adriano who deliriously found his mouth over the laceration with sheer ecstasy flowing through him. Back and forth this went though, the pale figure pulling Adriano off and then taking his own splurge of blood from his new offspring and then letting Adriano take it back from him. Unfortunately, the pale figure had no master plan after this. He had done this many times before and left the poor new infant to fend for themselves, often left to die in the sunlight. The pale figure took Adriano with him though. It was something in the goodness and purity of the blood that attracted the monster.

Adriano spent the next century with this monster who taught him nothing through speech and all through experience. Painful, forced, experimented, uncomfortable, perverted experience. Adriano never learned his sire’s name. He only called him ‘master’, for that’s what Adriano was then, a slave. He couldn’t leave, he couldn’t be alone. He didn’t understand all of himself. He had never been unsure of himself and no for a lifetime he didn’t know who he was or where he was or why he was. He just was. To skip over the details of a century, let us go to the highlights. One of which is the point Adriano’s life that he sees there has to be something more than the present and something more important. Where he leaves master.

The basics had been “taught” to him. He understood fire and sunlight and keeping in the shadows. He knew his strength and his weaknesses. He didn’t understand the point though and there was no such demonstration that master had showed him to keep him from wondering. Adriano understood his purpose to master though, his dark purpose. He had known more about life before this; he wanted to know where everything in his life had gone. Why he was feeling nothing but bitterness. He left master one night to simply not return. Master didn’t ever look for him. More likely than not he was pleased that his slave had found enough motivation and prerogative within himself to leave.

Adriano did a bit of “soul searching” when he left. For another one hundred fifty years he wasn’t at peace and like most young vampires, considering some form of suicide. He never did though, he ended up finding his sort of enlightenment within himself just as anyone must do. His purpose of life was revealed and in front of him now lay ahead thousands of miles and eternity for which he could make his life matter. Through the next few centuries he took up the new inexperienced vampires that found themselves lost and in need of guidance. He never put them through what master had to him, he was always very open, honest and forthright with them. He explained everything he knew and occasionally his personal opinion if it was asked for. Adriano was by no means the oldest vampire out there though, and he wasn’t as popular as it might sound. Sure, he took up five or six vampires through fifty years or so but it was never him and more than one “pupil”. He was always left because he could not give anyone the meaning of life which a lot of young vampires search for. He told them they must find it elsewhere. Of course no one ever left him bitterly or in distaste. It was a mournful parting and goodbyes were said into the early hours of the night light.

To the present now. Adriano is living in Northern England, close enough to the flame to be warm but far enough to not get burned. For now anyway. His territory is shared with other vampires and he really claims no right over it, he just wants peace. But just because one wants peace doesn’t mean they’ll get it. Further north Veikko Luova is brewing a war between Aaro Valpas and the vampires are being torn from seclusion and being pulled together like no other time in history. Luova is young though, just like Valpas and Adriano can see no good from the fighting. He lies with the majority of Valpas’ beliefs but knows that picking sides like this is just like picking a religion. Not everyone will tolerate it. So Adriano keeps updating friends in Ireland about what he hears and wondering if he should just go live in Japan where hopefully he can wait until everything blows over.
