There is a long lost history between Aaro Valpas and Veikko Luova. To make a novel a short story, we'll just sum it up to childhood friends gone bad. After Veikko was turned into the bloodsucking nightcrawler of the underworld he had the revolutionary idea that his sire gave him, to bring all vampires out of hiding. Of course, not everyone agreed to that, Veikko’s sire was shortly taken afterward. So he was alone for a shot while until he sought out Aaro to share this with him.

Aaro was turned into a vampire by Veikko and nobody knows this except the two of them. Their year together was short and full of pain. Aaro resented Veikko for taking him from his wife and child. They split up into different countries after that living different lives.

But Veikko is serious about the revolution. He believes in this day and age that more will follow him out of hiding and live above humans. Aaro is against Veikko, like he always was. But now there are more people involved and things are escalating into war standards. One of the very important people involved is a girl by the name of Lucille Queen.

Aaro turned her into a vampire in 1919 and she’s been with him ever since. Except sometime in the late 80’s she had a run in with Veikko. Things started off a little hostile but Veikko saw the advantage to being friendly to her. She’s now turned into a sort of spy for him, keeping the upper hand over his childhood friend. Except it’s been around ten years or more and Veikko is finding himself more protective and attracted to her. She isn’t just a little pawn. But what happens if Lucy gets fed up with everything? Who says she’ll believe anything Veikko ever tells her again?
