everyone has there own perception on vampires. there's the classic count dracula, to anne rice to even stephanie myer. i have come up with my own even though it is probably colored with each of the above in some light or another. that said, these are the things that you must abide to when you become a vampire. what they can and cannot do. please at least read the bulletins if not the whole thing. if you are unsure, read the whole paragraph. also, if you are confused in any way, please pm this account.- vampires sustain life off animals and/or humans.
this is personal preference. a vampire who chooses to live off of animals is often referred to as 'vegetarian'. with this being said, vampires do not drink anything but blood and do not eat human food. it messes up the vampire's system and they can become ill for several days. also, when a vampire is feeding, its eyes often roll back to white.
- there is a war.
as stated in the main plot, there is a vampire war going on in london, england that is being started by the vampire by the name of veikko luova. the opposing side is aaro valpas. most vampires have a side. the luova beliefs are in short this; that humans can be treated like animals. vampires and coexist and live in peace, but they can eat them when they want. of course valpas understands the difference and even goes as far as to proposing everyone go vegetarian. what almost nobody knows though is the history between aaro and veikko.
- vampires need to sleep.
they can sleep during the night if they want to and lie awake all day in their coffin if they wish. obviously this is not someone any average vampire would do though. vampires have to adjust there human sleeping habits to fit there night-shift.
- vampires are immortal.
drinking all their blood can't kill them. the sun and fire cannot kill them. so what is the point of staying out of it? it'll render them utterly useless. a vampire's consciousness may leave the pile of ashes they've turned into, but it does not disappear. it can gather the energy needed to pull all the ashes and particles back together and slowly regenerate. slowly means thousands of years, not a few months. and even when they reappear, it'll take thousands more years to become functional. at that point they've lived a millennium trapped in limbo. of course, if you think about it longer, they could be in a place where the sun enter in and if they keep getting burned, it's nearly impossible to get back.
- vampires have supernatural powers.
they have immense physical strength that cannot be fathomed by the human mind. they can not read thoughts exactly, but have an uncanny ability to feel what another is feeling. they have a feature that can hypnotize simple mortals that can be used to manipulate them in any way they want. vampires also have voices high enough that they can shatter glass without effort. flying is another thing they can do but more often than not produces nausea and can induce vomiting. they move faster than any human can see and if they focus all there energy, they can disappear into a shadow. the second option has the same sort of effects of flying though. of course all of this various to one vampire to the next and has nothing to do with age. and they can't turn into bats or anything else.
- vampires can love.
their love has no bounds, they are not tied to any certain gender. because that certain sexual desire is gone they don't find themselves drawn necessarily to the opposite sex. they become attracted to personalities and other physical attributes. they love another vampire or human for what makes them them, it has nothing to do with genders. so this of course means there can be a boy with a girl still, but not because of the general reason.
- vampires can't procreate, but they can have sex.
vampires do not make offspring. in their own warped way they can "create" offspring by both draining a human and letting it drink from the both of them, but this doesn't often happen. and while they can also have mortal sex, it does absolutely nothing for the two of them. their organs are dead and do not feel anything. the way a vampire has "sex" is drinking from each other. usually this consists of locking onto each other's necks and sucking the blood from the other. in which case, if a vampire forces another vampire to do this, it is considered rape.
- vampires do have punishment.
if a vampire has tried to kill another vampire, raped another vampire or is going on a killing spree, there is a punishment for it. of course, as stated above, they cannot be killed. but it's immensely hard to break out of a sealed, locked and buried stone and steel casket. there are other punishments too, such as chaining a vampire into something where they cannot escape the sunlight. generally smaller things are dealt with on a personal basis, such as stealing.
- becoming a vampire is a painful process.
to become a vampire the human must be about to die. either by disease or because a vampire has made it so. then the vampire will create a laceration where the dying person can drink the blood. often the human is delirious to this point and in some sort of trance. after the vampire blood is in them they start their transformation. the body must die and it is the most uncomfortable painful process anything can go through. just imagine the worst time you were hurt and probably amplify it a thousand times or more. when new vampire's body dies it can start to attain it's new powers.
- vampires have the shell of a human but the eyes of the supernatural.
as a vampire everything it does is in a slightly different manner than it's human self, if it's not completely altered. eye sight shows darkness in a brighter light with sheer clearness. their hair stays in the same form and length of when the person was changed and it will grow back over night if cut. fingernails are glass-like. the skin lacks pores and feels as hard as marble, as cold as snow and as soft as fur. they do not work up a sweat, there are no pores for it to leak out of. the only thing that will leak is maybe the tear ducts which pour blood. after a vampire has cried they can become physically exhausted because of the lack of blood. their sense of smell is so much stronger too which can be a disadvantage at times. when they feel it is much more intimate than the human touch, they can feel the blood or energy flowing through something. of course, their hearing is attune more accurately and can pick up sounds from miles away if they wish to and concentrate on it.
- vampires have territories and families.
vampires live within a coven or family usual and by doing so they have territory in which they can peacefully hunt. overstepping a boundary is settled with the family or coven leader of the territory in which was stepped. sometimes it isn't a huge problem, other times it can lead to retaliation and war. it is usually safest to not wander alone though, because a lone vampire is more likely to be attacked for killing in territory that does not belong to them. for more on territories, visit the coven thread.
- "we're the things that go bump in the night that you can't see"
it's true, the vampires are the scariest thing out there. you're more likely to find a vampire in your closet than a serial killer stalking you. it's absurd to be afraid of anything when you're a vampire (as most believe anyway) but more often than not, it takes infant vampires a very long time to realize they're the thing everyone is afraid of and they have nothing to be afraid over.
- the meaning of life.
almost every vampire goes through a time in there life where they want to find the meaning of life. they haven't died, 'god' (in whatever sense someone believes in him or it) didn't smite them and they have supernatural powers, so they want to know why. it drives many vampires insane to the point of "killing" themselves only to find out they can't die. this question won't be answered here though, as a vampire it is up to themselves alone to find meaning in the life they've been given.
