manchester often described as the second city of the UK, and the "capital of the north", manchester today is a center of the arts, the media, higher education and commerce. it was the world's first industrialized city and played a central role during the industrial revolution. manchester city centre is now on a tentative list of unesco world heritage sites, mainly due to the network of canals and mills constructed during its 19th-century development.

newcastle newcastle is a vibrant friendly city, with a heritage spanning the past nine-hundred and ninety-two years. situated in the north east of england, on the banks of the river tyne and surrounded by the scenic beauty of northumbria. an ideal place from which to tour the heritage coastline, with its unspoiled sandy beaches and sand dunes, or explore inland where you will find hadrian's wall and many castles dotted across the landscape.

belfast unless you approach belfast from the sea you cannot help but come upon the city suddenly because of its fine setting that is ringed by high hills, sea lough and a river valley. much of the city centre is now pleasantly pedestrianized, with benches where you can sit and listen to the street musicians. there are many exuberant victorian and edwardian buildings with elaborate sculptures over doors and windows. stone-carved heads of gods and poets, scientists, kings and queens peer down from the high ledges of banks and old linen warehouses.

londonderry the city of londonderry, also know as derry, is a medieval wonder. the seventeenth century layout within the city is still mainly intact, and the mile round, eighteen foot thick wall that surrounded the city still stands unbroken. londonderry is a hub for the arts, as well as soccer fans and shopaholics.

killiney beach on a warm day, this is one of the most pleasant places in Dublin to go for a swim. the stony beach drops dramatically, so you don't have to wade out for miles to get a good dip. make sure to wear a foxy swim suit as you may just bump into one of the several pop stars who live nearby! if you're in the neighborhood, why not also climb killiney hill, for a fine view of the surrounding area.

cliffs of hoy hoy is one of the larger islands in orkney. from parts of stromness, you can see its dark mountain rising up from behind the green hills. it dominates most of the views around here. the island is quite desolate in parts, but that makes for spectacular scenery.

country side often within a few hours travelling, you can experience a landscape that changes rapidly from gentle rolling hills to rugged coasts and dramatic, towering peaks. from the gentle rolling hills of dumfries and galloway to the breathtaking peaks of the cairngorms in the highlands by way of edinburgh's genteel georgian townhouses, the variety of scotland's landscapes never fails to amaze and impress.

cardiff modern, yet wonderfully old. urban, yet refreshingly green. hard working, yet achingly laid back. capital city, yet friendly and intimate. hard to describe really, maybe you should take a look for yourself.
