A small gray mare appeared on the horizon. Her steps were heavy and slow and she drug her soot-colored hooves through the luscious green sod. "Oh, Knight," she muttered miserably. "Oh, what am I going to do? Knight, please be here!" She lay down precariously, not really bothering to find any special place to birth the creature which was kicking within her belly. The mare groaned and her strong limbs kick wildly around her. The pain that was coursing through her was beginning to constrict around her abdomen. She had birthed only once before, so the pains weren't as painful as when she had given birth to her first daughter, but there was no denying the aching all throughout her body. "Knight!" she gasped again, whinnying loudly and shaking her head as if to shake the pain away. Her whispy white tassles splayed out over her forehead and covered up her soft green eyes which were normally sharp and full of life but were now clouded.
Her love and mate was a strong, handsome stallion whom she had met long ago. They had had a beautiful daughter together, but when their little Isabella was born, Knight had mysteriously disappeared. Michelle was not angry with her mate and she didn't question him too much, but she hoped and prayed with all of her might that he would be here for this birth. Of course, the chances were unlikely since the child that was about to be born was not his own. When Michelle had gone to meet Knight in the mating grounds, a dark stallion had intercepted her and raped her. It was this stallion's child who was now about to burst forth from her.
There was a short break in her pregnancy pains and the mare fought to catch her breath. Her chest heaved as her tail flashed angrily. Suddenly, another wave of pain washed slowly over her and she screamed out as loudly as possible. She knew that Knight's love was strong, but she hoped that his strength was stronger. She needed him here. Now.

Michelle waited. And waited. And waited. But Silver Knight still did not appear. She was still left alone in her pain. However, the pain jolting through her was too much to bear and she couldn't wait any longer. The anger and strong emotions that ran through her made her push even harder and soon the baby was beginning it's journey on the way out. Michelle's breathing rose and her ears were pinned back in wild frustration. She kicked at the grass roots around her, her limbs flailing wildly and her eyes clouded and crazy. First push. Breathe. Second push. Pain. Third push. Colt. The child slipped from between Michelle's legs in one wet, slimy mass. The cool breeze seemed to suddenly suffocate the small gray mare as she her senses slowly return to normal. Her breathing slowed and the sweat that covered her body cooled her and made her shiver. She was almost scared to look up and see if the child she had just birthed lived or not. She leaned forward and watched the pink, wet mass. It wasn't moving. Michelle's green eyes regained their sharpness and watched the colt intentely. So it was a boy, she could see already. And though she couldn't clearly see the colt's looks just yet, for he was still covered in afterbirth, she could already tell that he had a creamy golden color. Just like his father.

The golden brute walked slowly through the land, his head lowered with grief. He'd just witnessed the death of his mate by one of their own kind. He had to leave. He had to get out of here, to go somewhere where there were no bloodthirsty horses to kill his family. But he had a few loose ends to tie up before he left. Including this one.
His daughter trotting along beside him, a chestnut hue, reminded him of her mother. But he would not leave her. Not now. Not ever. He wouldn't do that to her.
He finally came upon the gray mare, straining in the field. He watched silently as his first son, creamy gold, was born. He watched her see her son for the first time, reaching around to clean her. "Stay here," he murmured to Risque, then stepped forward to the mare.
"I don't know your name," he said with regret, "and I wish I'd cared more to learn it. I'm sorry that I've complicated your life more than it needed to be. If I've ruined it, I'm sorry, and I wish I could make it up to you. But I'm leaving these lands, and I'm not coming back. You'll never have to deal with me again, if you just accept my apology."

Michelle's breath all but stopped as she spotted that light hued brute. She gasped loudly and sat up as tall as her folded limbs would let her. She was just weighing her options between turning and running as fast as she could away from him or staying and fighting him away from her (their . . .) newborn son. However, he began to speak and his words surprised her. As his words sifted slowly through her brain which was not yet working up to speed the way it should, her bright green eyes shifted to the small filly standing timidly behind the brute. "Who's this?" Michelle asked, suddenly on edge once more. What would a brute like this want with a small, helpless filly like her? "And my life hasn't yet been ruined, though I can't say the same for my poor son." She couldn't help but feel releived when he said that he was leaving - it would probably be best for everyone, anyway. However, she continued to watch the stallion carefully. He was asking for an appology? Considering he had come through the woods and raped her, she wasn't sure if this was supposed to be a joke or not. "I suppose an appoloy is called for, but I'm not completely sure if I can accept it," she finally managed to say. The young colt began to twitch beside her with more strength, now, and Michelle was reminded that she had not yet cleaned the afterbirth off of him yet. She turned and slowly licked her new son dry, though she kept both ears trained closely on the stallion . . . just in case.

The brute's ears flicked back automatically at the mare's mention of his daughter, but he managed to get them facing forward again. "This is Risque. She's my...daughter." He took a deep breath, preparing himself. "Her mother was killed in the dark lands. I'm taking her away, with me." He lowered his head, closing his dark eyes. "Whether you can accept it or not is your choice; I'm only offering it."
The filly took a few steps forward at her father's and this mare's words. She looked between Chance and the femme, unsure of what was happening. "You two know each other?" she asked. "And who's he?" She nodded at the colt in the grass, being licked by the gray mare.
