*He heard dar'Inder's voice, and answered her. 'I did what I had to, and I think it worked.' He found himself in a wide field, and, to his slight surprise, he was floating! He looked around for Artanis, and while he looked, experimented with his magic.*
((OOC: should his magic work in the astral plane? It's kind of a metaphysics decision for this world, and also a defining point for this sidestory thing, because, in essence, if their magic doesn't follow them into the spirit world, than Rendrag will probably die. I would say that this is a question for Dusk to answer, as it calls for a definition of magic in this world, but I think anyone could say...))

*It had worked! This body felt odd, as if it did not want him in it, but he was able to hold back this sensation, and the enormous amount of pain, long enough to send a mental message. 'I hear you. Whenever you feel ready, and used to my body.' Her form of mindspeech was odd, but in a way that he couldn't place. Oh well, he didn't need to think about it right now. He descended within his spirit, drawing his energy around himself like a cloak, bringing with it the pain, so that his mother's physical body's suffering lessened. He waited.*

dar'Inder scrabbled thru the pouch on the belt of her prone body. She found her field kit and the few vials of potions she had left. It had been a long time since she had done any healing other than emergency dressings or small ailments. As long, in fact, as she had hidden her powers. Well, they were out in the open now, so it mattered not who or what witnessed what she was about to do. She placed her hand on the wound in her stomach and followed the injury back to it furthest point with her senses. She began there, slowly closing the flesh together as she retreated. Fortunately, no vital organs had been damaged, so it was just a matter of stemming the blood and closing the wound. She chanted softly as she concentrated, her eyes closed, her mind inside her body, healing. The words were ancient, taught to her a long time ago whilst she was undergoing her training as Light Mage. Her powers gave her the ability to heal flesh and destroy minor diseases, and she had once used her knowledge unstintingly. Finally she reached the end of the strange journey and, opening a small vial with one hand, gently poured a few drops on the site of the wound. Then she bound it tightly. It would hold until the healers got here, she thought. She looked down at herself. It was a strange sensation, seeing her own body lying prone on the ground. She closed her eyes once more. I am done Beren, she sent. My body will hold for a while now, until the healers can see to it properly. Are you alright?

*Rendrag turned Artanis' head to look at his body. 'I am fine, now. I can make the transfer back now, if you wish, or, I can stay in your body for a while longer, to let it heal. I will be drawing on both my spirit's strength, and that of this body's, so, perhaps it would be wise to let it heal a while longer. It is up to you in the end, though.' He laid himself back down, waiting for her answer.*

*Rendrag soon fell asleep, with the warm sun and his exhaustion. When he awoke, a healer had still not yet come, and Artanis had curled his body up into a small ball, and was also asleep. Smiling, he laid her body back to the ground, and gently made the transfer. He sat up. It felt extremely good to be back in his body, but his muscles had cramped from the long time spent in that position. As he stretched, he reflected that this was an exercise he did not much want to repeat. However, it would make a good tale someday. He sat back down beside the tree, waiting for his mother to wake up.*

dar'Inder heard voices. Beren and......................someone vaguely familiar. She opened her eyes and looked up. A healer was bandaging up her wound expertly. " Oh, " she croaked. " Greetings Timon. How's the patient?" She smiled wanly. The wound still hurt altho the burning pain had eased. " You will live," the healer replied. " You had a narrow escape dar'Inder. If Beren had not arrived in time, you would have died!" He sat back on his heels. " I do not have to tell you to be careful for the next few days, do I?" dar'Inder meekly shook her head. " Good. The wound is scarring already. But be kind to it, understand?" He frowned at her. " Yes Timon,". The healer got to his feet stiffly. " Come and see me tomorrow." As he walked away, she looked at Beren ruefully. " It seems that Agamemnon cannot take a joke!" she said to him. " Beren, my son, thank you. I don't quite understand where we went or what you did. But I knew you had saved my life, without Timon telling me!" She reached up for a helping hand. " Let's go back to the cabin and try to have that talk we've been promising ourselves!"
