Stacey slid over, and tried to keep what little of her dignity she had left. But when they passed Levi on the way home, she lost the little shred she'd been clutching on to. She began to cry quietly, not wanting to worry Gabi any more than she had already.

Gabi continued with her driving, and looked at Stacey as she cried again. She reached over with her right hand and patted her shoulder, keeping her eyes on the road.

Stacey tried to manage a smile, but she just couldn't. Her phone rang suddenly. "Bueno? Hola, papi! Si, si.... NO!! QUE NO, NO, PAPA!! Maria Purisima... Bye." (Hello? Hi, dad! Yes, yes... NO! I SAID NO, DAD! Dear goodness gracious...) She snapped the phone closed angrily. "My dad says I have to move into un apartamento! (an apartment) Can you believe it? He says it's "good for me"." She rolled her eyes, only a bit of happiness in her heart, she'd still be attending East High.
