Malachi wandered down the corridor, heading towards his office. Instead of going to feast he would have to teach some oaf how to brew a simple Potion. It was times like this that he hated working at a school where he could not bite anyone when they annoyed him. Such a shame, if they did allow him, half the school would have been dead by now, including some Professors.

He barged into his Office and grumbled loudly in Romanian. “Stupid kid, why could the oaf have been smart, why is he such an idiot. And to think that he is not like the other Rouge. She’s good at spells, she is good at things, and he does nothing but day dream all day.”

Idiot he thought, keeping him away from his precious blood filled meals on legs. Malachi barely had to travel anymore to find food. Muggles were not that missed and he was not planning on eating any of his fellow Pure-Bloods. The fat muggles tasted horrible, arteries clogged up and what not. Just horrible.

Malachi bet that Victor would taste good, thin and healthy. Give the boy a reason and he would end up missing, only to be found in a ditch somewhere very far away.

“Bring on the idiot then...” he murmured as he glanced up at the clock, just daring the boy to miss their appointment at exactly 9’o’clock.

Victor strolled down from the Gryffindor Common Room, with a bit of spring in his step. He was still in a rather pleasant mood after what had happened with his lover, Alexander. They had shared a magical and intimate moment at the lake like he had never experienced. Which was saying something, since he had experienced virtually anything a teenager could do to another teenager in a sexual situation.

Humming a song to himself, he walked past the Great Hall wondering if Alexander was in there at the moment. But as his love was almost as thin as he was, he highly doubted it. It was very rare to see Victor eat something, he was somewhat of an anorexic.

Finally he reached down the corridor that would lead him to the Potion Masters office, a place he was quite dreading to get too. Of course, since he was just so terrible at anything that had to do with magic except for the simplest of spells, he was sentenced to extra help for some of his classes. The first of which being Potions.

With a sigh, victor pushed through the door, his long brown hair hanging in front of his face and over his red plaid shirt. Underneath of which was his usual pair of low rider tapered black jeans and a pair of black shoes. He squinted through the bit of darkness to see Malachi waiting, staring at the clock.

"Kay so, what am I supposed to do?" he asked suddenly, without an introduction or any of the sort. He waned to get this over and done with as fast as possible so he could get back to his writings.

Malachi stared at the door as it opened and in strode a boy. Thin, very tasty. Stop it he thought and watched at the boy stood there, not even looking round the room as if knowing what was coming. Malachi looked through the darkness, the boy knowing full well that he could be seen, vampire eyes and hearing came in handy a lot of the time.

Malachi stared at the boy and waited for him to say something so that he could judge the character before he gave him the work he had to do.

"Kay so, what am I supposed to do?"

Malachi was impressed not many people would be so forward when attending his lessons, especially if it was an extra lesson rather than a normal one. He stepped forward into the dim light and brought a finger to his lips.

“A Good Evening would suffice Mr Rouge, whenever you are in a Professors presence it helps to not be rude and use the words ma’am or sir whenever necessary.” He snarled from the darkness.

“Now head over to the cupboard and take out the ingredients needed for a Calming Draught.” He told him and made a few torches light up to ensure that the boy could see where and what he was doing. He did not want any more mistakes. Seeing that they boy had still not moved he turned to face him.

“Now would be nice, the faster you move the faster you can leave Mr Rouge.”

Victor stared at the professor blankly. After dealing with Helena, barley any person scared him anymore unless it was his own dead Mother. Then suddenly the professor spoke, emerging from the darkness.

“A Good Evening would suffice Mr Rouge, whenever you are in a Professors presence it helps to not be rude and use the words ma’am or sir whenever necessary.”

"Yeah, sir," Victor muttered on his breath, shoving his hands in front pockets.

“Now head over to the cupboard and take out the ingredients needed for a Calming Draught.” Malachi had said, not noticing Victor's muttering.

Victor glanced around the room, noticing a rather large cupboard across the way. There were a couple of torches lip around it, but he knew that would be no help to him what so ever. He had never successfully made a potion in his life, and he didn't expect that this would be any different. He had already forgotten the name of the potion.

“Now would be nice, the faster you move the faster you can leave Mr Rouge.”

Silhan was clearly annoyed that Victor had not already started moving, so with his hands still in his pocket the Gryffindor walked towards the cabinet, squinting slightly as if he had just woken up from a bad dream. He stared at the many ingredients that he assumed would be for the potion. The question was, which ones would make a Calming something-or-other.

Victor stared blankly at the cabinet, and grabbed a few random things that he thought would be sufficient. Something called wolfsbane, something else called what he thought was sophorous, and something else called hellebore. Victor looked at them all with a worried look, as they were not quite pleasant to smell or just glance at. He looked back at the professor and shrugged.

Keeping the three things in his hands he put them on a table and looked at the professor.

"I've got no clue whats in the Calming thingy," he said. "...sir."

Malachi watched the kid saunter over to the cupboard and stare at the ingredients. As this happened Malachi walked over to this desk an pulled out the real potion ingredients they were going to use to make a Befuddlement Draught; Scurvy-grass, Lovage, and Sneezewort.

He placed the three vials on the table behind the boy as he picked three bottles at random then turn around with a confused look on his face.

"I've got no clue whats in the Calming thingy," he said. "...sir."

Malachi rose an eyebrow. “You should know what is in a Calming Draught Rouge, besides I knew you were not going to remember the Poion we worked on last lesson. We will actually be brewing a Befuddlement Draught and these are the ingredients.”

He turned on more torches making it moderately bright in the room and pointed to each bottle. “Scurvy-grass, Lovage and Sneezewort.” He said pointing to each on in turn then pointed over to the Cauldron that was on the table on the far end of the room.

“Set things up, and let the Chauldron heat up before adding in the Sneezewort.” He murmured. This was going to be a long night, this kid was obviously hopless at Potions.

Victor glanced down at Malachi, irritated that he had just made a hopeless attempt a picking out ingredients for no reason. Sadly, he had not even remembered learning about the potion in a previous lesson. Shrugging, he looked at the ingredients he was given. Trying his best to remember scurvy-grass, lovage and sneezewot, he sat next to the cauldron and lit the flame underneath it with his wand. At least he was good for that much.

He watched, having no idea what he was really supposed to do he stared at the three bottles in front of him. Set things up Malachi had told him. Victor bit his bottom lip lightly, and began to play with his hair. He truly had no idea what to do with these things.

"Err," he said quietly, looking back and forth through the bottles he picked up the one that he was quite certain to he the grass stuff, and put some of it in the cauldron, not even checking if it was hot enough or not.

Malachi sat on the edge of the desk and watched victor. This kid was really hopeless at this. He did not know the difference between Hellebore and Wormwood. The boy could not even tell if the cauldron was warm enough to add in the ingredients and began to play with his hair.

Still he just sat there watching the boy, waiting for something, at least the boy managed to light the fire under the cauldron. Malachi watched as the kid picked up a random one and he guessed that Victor had just picked the one that looked the most like grass and plonked it in to the Cauldron. Luckily he had been right.

“Nice guess Rouge. Now add three drops of the blue liquid to your right and stir the potion 12 times anti-clockwise.” He muttered and stood up straight and headed to stand in front of the cauldron waiting for the boy to ake his move.

The blue liquid would make the grass dissolve and make the potion easier to slip into peoples drinks as he was sure people would notice if they drunk a piece of grass let alone the measurements he had set out for the boy.

Victor watched the professor tower over him, telling him he had actually gotten it right for once. He let out a sigh of relief, he had lit the fire and added one ingredient. It was going better already than most attempts he had ever done.

Now add three drops of the blue liquid to your right and stir the potion 12 times anti-clockwise.” the professor told him, stepped closer to the cauldron.

It seemed straight forward enough, maybe he really could finish this potion and not end up looking like a Squib. Flicking his head slightly, the hair got out of his eyes and he could see a bit better again before the hair would fall back into place.

Reaching over the cauldron, Victor grabbed onto the blue liquid and was ready to poor it in. But all of a sudden, He noticed that his sleeve had caught fire by the intense heat of the cauldron. Not knowing what to do, as he felt it burn up his arm rather quickly he began to whack it on the table as he'd seen so many people in Muggle movies doing.

Knowing he looked idiotic, Victor continued to beat off the flame with the side of the table somehow. It wasn't very logical, but he was startled.

Malachi was bored, this was cutting into his time and he hated being held up especially for a kid. He sighed silently as the boy reached over to grab the dropper and his head dropped when he realised that the boys sleeve was on fire.

Malachi watched Victor whack his arm on the table trying to put the fire out, he looked like a muggle and Malachi hated that.

“Use your damn wand you idiot. Are you a wizard or a fish?” he growled still having not moved from where he was standing against the table.

Malachi waved his hand after what seemed a few minutes of watching this very idiotic kid bash his arm against the table trying to extinguish the flame on his sleeve, as soon as he waved his hand the flame was put out.

“Moving on...from that very... idiotic... attempt to put out that flame. Add the drops of the liquid and lets move on.” He sneered, “Stir it twelve times anti-clockwise and let it simmer for 10 minutes.” He said adding the next bit so that they could move on quicker.

Victor sighed as the professor put his sleeve out by magic. He had hoped he could avoid using his wand, as he preferred to use it as much as possible. He half listened to the professors instructions, hearing the word idiotic somewhere in the mixture. But the boys thoughts were on other things at the moment.

His sister had tried to teach him his spells once, it used to go so well but Victor quickly learned that it wasn't very fun to do. As soon as this discovery, he never performed the magic well because he was too bored to actually do so.

Grasping onto the bottle he still held onto, he added drops of the weird liquid into the cauldron, accidentally dropping in the dropper with it.

Malachi noticed that the boy barely moved at all even when he had been insulted; all he had let loose was a sigh after the flame had been extinguished. Malachi had never seen anyone not care about anything so much that he was not bothered to even try to pass the grade. This kid was not suited to his class.

Potions required concentration skill and more importantly patience. Victor did not have what it takes to do this class, but still he had to complete this potion and Malachi hoped that this was over as fast as possible.

Watching as the kid picked up the dropper and dropped both the three drops and the dropper into the potion Malachi groaned. This kid was useless. Malachi summoned the dropped knowing that it was not going to do him any hard by anyone else’s skin would rip apart making their blood run, since his did not pump round his body there was no hard in touching it.

“Nice one dumbass...” he murmured silently, as he walked over to the Cauldron and pulled it a few inches away from him and moved the potions to a safe distance where nothing else could possibly go wrong.

“Stir and let it simmer.”

Victor watched as the professor got the dropper back out of the cauldron, followed by an insulting comment. Starting to get slightly annoyed with the man, Victor reached for a stick that was clearly a stirring sick and placed it in the cauldron.

"Whatever." he muttered.

Victor began to stir the potion, not exactly remember what the professor had told him to do. Frankly, he didn't really care. He hated Potions, he had decided it then and there. To be more honest with himself, he realized that he did not want to pursue a career in any sort of magical type area. Magic was boring, as he'd grown up with it. Victor wanted something different for himself.

He stirred the potion ten times clockwise, and removed the stick from the cauldron only to see that he had made yet another stupid mistake.

Malachi walked behind his desk as the boy began to stir his potion, but could not see which direction because he was getting the next bit ready, using his wand he mixed another liquid a red one this time and mixed it with the Lovage.

Turning round he saw the boy stirring the potion in the wrong direction. Malachi brought his had up to his forehead and glared at the back of the boys head. God this one’s deaf as well as stupid.

“Tell me Mr Rouge,” he said as he picked up the stirrer and stirred it 24 times anti-clockwise so that the other 12 were countered and took the stirrer out of the cauldron, “Are you stupid, or do you enjoy making an idiot out of yourself? Do you like looking like you know nothing or was that just the way your parents raised you?” he snarled.

“Now add in this after ten minutes and then drop in the last ingredient and the potion should turn aquamarine.” He growled.

“Are you stupid, or do you enjoy making an idiot out of yourself? Do you like looking like you know nothing or was that just the way your parents raised you?” he snarled.

Victors wide eyes shot towards the professor. Now he really was irritated, and when he was mad at something his eyes turned as fierce and mad as Helena's got. "You know nothing of my parents." Victor snapped. "I'm not stupid, and I don't like looking like I am. Maybe I just think magic is crap! Do you honestly think that I want to be here? At this school, even?"

He stared at the professor, his American accent growing dry with annoyance and frustration. His gaze calming back down, he turned to the potion once more. Victor looked into it, waiting several minutes with his arms crossed. He wanted to get out of the area as fast as possible.

Why could he never do anything right? Anything he ever did in his life had blown up in his face. The only thing that hadn't ended for him was Alexander, he was the only hope left in his life.

Picking up the final ingredient after what he figured had been ten minutes he carelessly dropped it in, and watched as the potion began to spit out at him, just before exploding.

Malachi glared at the boy, he was right, he knew almost nothing of the boys parents but he knew of his sister, he knew what she was capable of, but he guessed she had got all the smart genes, he was useless, too stupid for his own good. He was hopeless at magic and it showed but what victor snapped back really had not surprised Malachi.

"You know nothing of my parents." Victor snapped. "I'm not stupid, and I don't like looking like I am. Maybe I just think magic is crap! Do you honestly think that I want to be here? At this school, even?"

“If you do not wish to remain at this school, just leave, you are not of age I believe, but just fail your classes and get kicked out. You can leave But if you do decide to leave, it will be one less person I have to worry about failing my class and having to help them. Now carry on with your potion.” He explained and pushed the vial towards him.

As he watched the boy put in the last ingredients he frowned as the potion began to spit everything back out. Stupid kid... was all he could think before blasting up a quick shield as the potion exploded and coated the whole class except for the two figures. The potion was still going to burn away skin, it had not been finished and he was not surprised that it had blown up.

“You can stay here until this mess is cleaned up, without a wand. That is what you get when you do not listen. You are lucky I threw up the shield or you would be dead right now.”
