A new, larger DSi is already being planned, with its launch in Japan next month. 1" larger screens, much larger stylus, and wonder how much larger the price tag will be.
My take on this: As long as they can stay in the right price range, I believe it's a positive step for Nintendo. I know that in today's portable gaming standards, smaller seems to be the new trend, but who really sat down and told these game companies that smaller = better? Did they just assume that putting a game system in your pocket would make it better? Perhaps for schoolkids.
Even though the new DSi added some features, like upgraded from 802.11b to 802.11g and some other things, they took out a critical part of the ds: the gba cartridge port, just as the psp is getting its umd drives taken out.
Some of us will like the bigger game screens, and I personally hope that they are less as easily breakable as the originals, but time (and price) will tell. Too bad I already have a DS lite, and as long as it's working, I probably won't be upgrading!
