Matt, I know you mentioned something about radient silvergun the other day (probably in the which sequel would you want section).. and I was wondering what other types of games were like it... I knew I had played a couple japanese pc games years ago that was sort of like it..
So far, I've come up with a few:
Layer Section (Aka raystorm) (saturn, pc, ps1)
Ray Crisis (ps1, ?)
Layer Section II (Aka galactic attack?) (saturn, ?)
and some of the Thunderforce games
We were actually suppose to get thunderforce IV on the sega cd, but it never came. I remember reading about it and Indiana Jones and an underworld adventure game which I forget the name of...
Ikaruga is very similar to Radiant Silvergun. It was a Galaga style 2D space shooter for the Japanese Dreamcast that was ported to Gamecube as soon as it reached the States. In my opinion, it's challenging, but still a fun game overall. It wouldn't disappoint many gamers. I don't own the game, but I could tolerate it.
Radiant silvergun, excellent game, had to trade a lot of US titles with my friend from japan for that game! I remember seeing that game on ebay years ago for well over 150 dollars
