I am clueless on this medicine/treatment. I am sure I will have questions once others input their experiences and knowledge on this one.

I have not had to deal with it either in goats but have in horses and for them I used koppertox or as a preventative i would but some lime in an old sock and make a powder puff out of it, called lime socking, and each time I cleaned the horses hoofs I would powder them, it worked great.

like ms jan said its actually for horses but i find if i use it after each trimming it seals the feet and fights off any bacteria. i use it for any foot soreness but mainly as a prevenitive measure.

Koppertox works like a dream in horses. I use it to seal the hooves of ours- but I havent had foot scald or rot thank goodness. Another good thing to kind of seal the hooves after a trim is iodine. Just regular iodine and dip their hooves in it once you finish trimming that hoof. [happy]
