Did you like the book and did it live up to your expectations?
Why or why not? |

I am in process of rereading this book for the upteenth time ladies. I first heard about this from a collegue who purchased it for her 10 year old daughter. I then purchased it for my 9 year old daughter (at the time). She's now 11 and we are going to reread this book together. Will be back to post thoughts when we're done. But I will say, this book is one of the most inspiring for not only young girls, but I love it also. I have turned it on to many an adult friend as well and it is like an old companion for me, sitting on my nightstand for me to clutch to when the mood strikes.

Hey Darcy same here. My girls and I are going to re-read this together over the weekend. And I have you to thank for suggesting this book. It's definitely a keeper for me. Will post more about it after the weekend.

Well we reread this book together over the weekend and you know what it never gets old. Did it meet expectation? I think far exceeded them if you gage my daughters response. Penelope Miller is a wonderfully quirky narrator and takes you through a journey through this book all young girls need to go through. It's about hopes and dreams and all the things positive and possible for girls and women in this world. I love it because it is written so that young girls can appreciate it as well as adult women. Love., friendship, heck there is even a section on moving out on your own.
I think my favorite exerpt in the book is this, "If anyone tries to tell you you can't sing your own song or make your way in the world, prove them wrong." |

I took the book with me and read it about 3 times over the course of the last few days. I needed a pick me up and this book always does it. And I am still waiting for the damn teaching license from the state of Illinois. You know I got the license from Utah in no time but Illinois is a royal pain in the butt. My teaching offer is contingent upon receiving this license. Rod Blagojevich get our state in order please.

Morning ladies.
The book arrived in the mail last week and I've had a chance to look through it a bit, but not read it entirely. It seems like a great little pick-me-up read and who doesn't need that? lol Hopefully I'll have time to finish it this week. Then I can pass it along to my young neice. I love the page about taking a bath. "When things get hard...take a bath." It won't change anything, but you're not responsible for anything while you're in there and no one will ask you to do anything. So true! Baths are a woman's best friend during stress. lol |

I thought it was wonderful. Sweet and empowering and a little quirky. Any woman, no matter the age, can appreciate this book and love it. I've had it by my bedside for a few days now, and I'll usually open to one page and read that, just for a little pick me up!
