My name is Kathy or Kate. I go by either.

I did consulting work for years working for a variety of consulting companies and finally ended up working for myself for about 5 years. I decided I needed a careerchange so adding to my degree in mathematics, I went back to school to get my secondary school teaching certification. I am currently substitute teaching but am hoping to have a full time teaching job in the fall. High School mathematics. Yeah I know that does not sound too exciting but I am hoping to instill a passion for mathematics in my students and help them realize just how important Math is to their future and that it can be fun. Who knows there may be some future mathematicians in my future.

Darcy here. As a high school english teacher, I love reading and try to instill a passion for reading in my students.

On top of my love for teaching, I am a licensed equestrian and have competed in years past. Those days are over although I still love to ride. Getting old is hell people. biggrin.gif

Kat and Darcy you did a great job and make this woman proud. Keep up the wonderful work chicks. I am a friend of theirs as they know. We worked together years back. I am married and have 3 kids, ages 5 to 14. 1 boy and 2 girls. I love this and hope to be able to participate regularly.

Hello ya'll!

I followed the link from ReadingGroupGuides.com's Message Board to check out ya'll's forum.

I'm Jennifer from Charleston, SC. I go by BG, for Book Girl, online at book sites. I'm 27 and a pharmacist at a fairly large hospital. I'm recently married and we have two cats, Bin and Sakai.

I'm going to go check out the rest of your site now!

Welcome Jennifer. Nice to have some company from the southeast and I am glad you found our like. We are just starting this board and welcome is anyone. I think a lot is going to be trial and error so bear with us.

As a fellow cat lover, I have an orange tabby named Max(yeah how original) that is a loving cat but a royal pain, but I can't help but love him anyway.

Again welcome.

Hola Kate!

Both my boys (the cats) can be royal pains most days. Right now they are sleeping in the sun quietly.

So where in the Southeast are you from if you don't mind my asking?

Hello! smile.gif

This is Beth (as though the screen name doesn't give it away or anything) and Kate directed me here to this lovely site. I love to read and haven't ever been involved in a book club in any capacity before, so I'm looking forward to this!

I'm 38 years old, never been married and have no kids. I live in Columbia, SC (*waving frantically at Jennifer two hours away*), and work at both the business office of a large cardiology firm and at the local library.

The site looks great, ladies!

Beth,

Welcome. I have to give Kat and Darcy most of the credit. I am just the lazy ass tag along to both of them. Welcome and I hope you enjoy it. I am 38 as well and I say that proudly dammit.

Welcome Beth!

I actually lived in Columbia for a year when I was in high school. I went to Dreher High School and lived in that big neighborhood behind the BP station and the VA hospital (can't remember the name of the main road it was off of now). I do remember the lovely big library downtown and a smaller branch off that road whose name I don't remember.

*tip toes in*

Hello. smile.gif

I know a few of you from around the internet. Been kicked off sites with some of you, too. *whistles*

Oh lord do I have to say my age? Well I'm fully grown, lets put it that way. I have some rug rats. One of which is taller than me. And I also have a dog who I'm quite fond of. And a cat....who hurts me.

Looking forward to talking books and having fun with some nice ladies.

Thanks Kate and Darcy for making such a lovely site.

Well hello and I recognize the name. I am not sure I was ever kicked off my I know my participation was not welcome so I left and it was just as well. I have not viewed the show in question in some months and have no desire to nor to go back to that online community. Some fans are truly delusional if you ask me but that's another story for another day. Welcome and no bias here. Katie and I have been friends for ages and we argue all the time so never feel shy about expressing your opinion. And no ages necessary. As long as you are within the 10 to 110 age range I think all the topics and conversation should be safe for you.
