Actually Sai, I know a lot more than just kirk's middle name. Having hundreds of episodes on video and dvd. Including collectors editions and first issues that have their production number on the front to prove that they in the first lot ever produced. Ha, I even watched the star trek Cartoon when I was a little podling.

The support website is still showing not received yet; I'm going to assume (pray) that that simply means that the receiving section hasn't gotten it to the repair section...that is, it simply hasn't scanned into the system yet. I'll check later today and update as new info becomes available.

So I was getting a little antsy, since UPS says it was delivered and Mr. or Mrs. Jones signed for my Xbox at a dock in McAllen, TX, but the http://service.xbox.com/ site says that their still waiting to receive it: "Repair Status: Empty Box Shipped to Customer". This worries me, being the paranoid person I am. So I called the the Xbox support line and managed to circumvent "Max" and get to a real person (I think he was real, he sounded real...). This helpful young man was as perplexed as I, but did indicate that "sometimes Xbox.com is a little slow." He also assured me that "they usually go out within a week" and it's "the whole process takes 4-6 weeks;" this implies 4-6 weeks from the day I mail it out to the time I get it back.

I'm a pessimist, so I'm not prone to fully believe these numbers, but it has given me hope. I miss my Xbox, and I want it back...sooner than later.

More info as it becomes available!

This is on major saga! You could turn it into a movie! (Ok, maybe a little too far tongue.gif)

But in all seriousness, you'd think that they'd be getting better at this (what with all the practice they've had!!!)

As I said in another thread, my mate just got his back yesterday, it took a total of 47 days from contacting the call centre in the first place to getting it back and sticking Forza back in! So I guess 4-6 weeks is a fair estimate!

So I called Xbox Support again, since the status hasn't changed and managed to get to a real person after a pretty long hold time (it is Monday after all). According to their system, it did indeed get to the facility on August 2nd and is now "in repair". So he said I should see the next update in 3-5 business days. Which is good, because I'm having wireless controller withdrawals and I'm starting to twitch.....

Well, just got an email at 12:32am from Xbox Support stating that it's been received at the service center...about time, considering that on Monday the guy on the phone said they had it. Regardless, at least I now have "written" confirmation that it's there.

Hope it comes home soon! I've got games to play; and my birthday's Sunday, so I'm hopefully getting some stuff for it...would suck to have it sitting here for a week with no console to put it in. sad.gif

They've issued me a new serial number, which is interesting; I hope this is a new Xbox and not simply someone else's refurb. Guess we'll find out. Anyway, I'm esctatic! Should be here Thursday if UPS is on the ball; I'll have to order my monitor soon so I can take advantage of my new box! Woohoo!!! I guess it pays to call twice a week to check it's status! biggrin.gif

Congrats, Knight! thumbsup_still.png

I got mine back Friday. It is definitely a different unit with a different serial number. Not sure if it is refurbed or brand new. But, it is 10 times more quiet and definitely has a different DVD drive than my old one.

Really???! That's awesome...I was hoping it's be quieter and perhaps have a different DVD drive...my old one always sounded like a jet fighter taking off. blink.gif

I'll take pics as soon as I get it back...I'm gonna try the "peak into the top and see if you have the new heatsink" trick as well.

Oh really? Care to share the details of this trick? How do you peak in without breaking the seal that voids your warranty?

Getting that notice today is exactly two weeks since I sent it in, so 2.5 weeks total turnaround for me once it's back in my hands. Not too bad...I guess it pays to call and bother them every couple days. biggrin.gif

It took them about a month to get it back to her, but the last 2 weeks it was gone, they told her they shipped it to her half the times she called to find out about it, only be told it hasn't been started on the other half of the times she called. dry.gif

I guess we were really lucky. All three of ours were a week to ten days from the date we shipped it out, to the day it returned. But that was January-February of this year, so maybe not so many being returned at that time.

I'm trying to decipher the new serial # to see if it's a newer or older console than my original; I guess I'll figure it out on Thursday when I can see the manufacture date. I'm hoping that it's like Sai's, though, and has the new DVD drive and perhaps new heatsinks. smile.gif

It was in a pretty good place before, but I'm going to make sure it's got lots of air now on my new desk in my gaming room. biggrin.gif
