The Great Hall
Double doors in the Entrance Hall lead to the Great Hall, which is a vast chamber with an enchanted ceiling that mirrors the sky outside. Lightning and thunder flash across it during storms, on clear nights it appears deep black and full of stars, and it has been full of sunshine or covered with gray clouds. For special occasions the ceiling has been transformed; warm, dry enchanted show fell for a Christmas celebration and colorful confetti fell during Lockhart's Valentine's Day celebration.

The Entrance Hall
Four large hourglasses, each representing a different house, were hung on the corner of a wall in the Hogwarts’ entrance hall. At the top of each hourglass was a store of precious gems: Gryffindor had rubies, Ravenclaw had sapphires, and Slytherin had emeralds – the gems in the Hufflepuff hourglass were unknown but probably yellow (SS15; OP28, 38). During the battle in Hogwarts, the Gryffindor hourglass was shattered, and the rubies had scattered all over the flagstones in the entrance hall (HBP28, 29).

Charms Classroom
Professor Filius Flitwick teaches in a third-floor classroom but his office is on the seventh floor, thirteenth window from the right, in the West Tower. Sirius Black escaped from this office.

Potions Classroom
Potions - Professor Snape's office was adjacent to his classroom in one of the dungeons. It is colder than the main castle, and you can see your breath during the winter. His office is creepy, and the walls are lined with pickled animals floating in jars. Snape keeps his own private stores of potion ingredients in his office. When Professor Slughorn taught Potions, he used the former office used by the Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers on the second floor because Snape stayed in his office in the dungeon.

Defence Aganist the Dark Arts Classroom
Defense Against the Dark Arts - the office is on the second floor, while the classroom on the first floor. This class has been taught by a different professor each year. Professor Gilderoy Lockhart decorated the office with pictures of himself; Professor Remus Lupin had a grindylow tank and other magical creatures; Mad-Eye Moody had a Foe-Glass, Dark Detectors, and a chest with seven locks. Professor Dolores Umbridge had plates on the wall painted with foul kittens in bright colors, frilly doilies, and a flowered tablecloth. However, Snape continued to use his old office in the dungeon when he taught Defense Against the Dark Arts.

RavenClaw~
Rowena Ravenclaw - The founder of Ravenclaw house, she was a sharp and intelligent woman. Intellect is a highly valued asset to the students of Ravenclaw house. Due to this, it is likely that Rowena wanted to make Hogwarts the very finest Wizarding school on earth, teaching those children with the highest intelligence.

Hufflepuff~
Helga Hufflepuff- The founder of Hufflepuff house, she was a kind and warm woman. Not much is known of her, though we may assume that she brought (or tried to bring) unity to Hogwarts. The values a person must possess to be sorted into Hufflepuff house are those of loyalty and patience above all else.

Gryffindor ~
Where the Gryffindor sleeps and stays. Only a Gryffindors may post here.
Godric Gryffindor - The founder of Gryffindor house. A fair man, he believed that any child who displayed magical abilities before their 11th birthday should be able to attend Hogwarts. Godric valued courage and bravery, believing these were the two most virtuous abilities a person can possess.

Slythern ~ Kirsten
Where the Slytherns sleep and stay. Only a Slythern may post here.
Salazar Slytherin - The founder of Slytherin house, he was sly and cunning, not unlike many of the students in his house today. He believed strongly that only wizards of pure blood (i.e., those with a mother and father from Wizarding families) should be allowed to attend Hogwarts. Slytherin caused great dispute over this with the other founders, and it eventually caused a permanent rift with Gryffindor, which led to Slytherin's departure from the school. Before he left, however, he created the Chamber of Secrets, complete with a huge statue of himself and a horrible monster.

Headmisstress' Office
This is where Hermione lives, students are sent here for disapline or staff for a meeting.
No student may start a topic here!
the entrance to the headmistress's office and living quarters is on the seventh floor and is hidden behind a stone gargoyle; when the password is given, the gargoyle springs aside and reveals a spiral staircase, which moves magically up like an escalator. The office and living quarters are in a tower, and the office is a large and beautiful circular room. The walls are covered with portraits of old headmasters and headmistresses, who often seem to be snoozing in their frames. There is an huge, claw-footed desk and the Sorting Hat sits on a shelf behind it.

The Black Lake
The first-year students are met at the station by Hagrid (or another teacher), who carries a lantern and escorts them down a dark, steep, narrow path that ends at the lake, where they get their first glimpse of Hogwarts. A fleet of little boats takes the students across the lake. As the boats near the cliff on which Hogwarts stands, they sail through an ivy curtain that hides a wide opening in the towering cliff. The boats then sail along a dark tunnel right underneath the castle to an underground harbor with a shore full of rocks and pebbles (SS6).

The Forbidden Forest
The Forbidden Forest lies east of Hogwarts castle. The forest has thick groves of trees that block out the light. Beech, oak, pine, sycamore, and yew trees are found in the forest, along with underbrush such as knotgrass and thorns (SS13, 15; CS15; OP21, 28, 30). There are brooks, clearings, and wide paths to follow, but dense vegetation grows on both sides of the paths.

Qudditch Pitch
To get to the Hogwarts Quidditch pitch, the students have to cross the lawn and pass the lake. The Quidditch pitch is a large, grassy, oval field, 500 feet long by 180 feet wide. Three 50-foot-tall poles with hoops on the ends stand at both ends of the field, and a scoring area is also marked off at each end. The center of the pitch has a circle where the Quidditch balls are thrown into the air when the match begins. The Golden Snitch and the Bludgers are enchanted to stay within the boundaries of the pitch (QA).

The Whomping Willow
This is to the south of the castle, next to the Forbidden Forest. It was planted when Remus Lupin attended the school, to cover for his lycanthropy. It is a particularly dangerous plant, and will attack anyone who comes near it, especially if they crash their car into it. According to Professor Snape, it is also rather valuable.

Eeylops Owl Emporium
Harry's Snowy owl, Hedwig, came from Eeylops. Hedwig was a present from Hagrid, in honor of Harry's eleventh birthday. Inside the shop it is very dark, and full of flickering jewel-bright eyes. In addition to Snowy owls, Eeylops sells Tawny, Screech, Barn, and Brown owls as well. Ron and Harry visit Eeylops during the summer of 1996 to purchase owl treats for Hedwig and Pigwidgeon.

Florean Fortescue's Ice-Cream Parlor
Harry visited this shop an awful lot during the summer of 1993 when he was staying in the Leaky Cauldron. He got free ice-cream sundaes every half hour and help with his homework from Florean himself, who was apparently something of an expert on medieval witch-burnings. Unfortunately, Florean went missing in July 1996. From the look of his store, it appears as though Death Eaters dragged him off. Their motive for doing so is unknown, other than the fact that Florean "was a good man" (HBP, p 106). Since Florean's disappearance, his Ice Cream Parlor has been boarded up.

Flourish and Blotts
This shop was the scene of both an infamous fist-fight between Lucius Malfoy and Arthur Weasley and a book signing by the equally infamous Gilderoy Lockhart. Flourish and Blotts stocks a wide range of books that are stacked from floor to ceiling: some leather-bound and as big as paving stones, some tiny and covered in silk, and some that have to be kept in a cage to stop them attacking passers by. They regretted their purchase of 200 copies of The Invisible Book of Invisibility when they couldn't find them and had to take the loss on the whole lot. They equally regretted stocking the Monster Book of Monsters, which Hagrid required the first year he taught Care of Magical Creatures at Hogwarts. During the summer of 1996, a stall supposedly selling protective Amulets was erected in front of Flourish and Blotts.

Gringotts
The wizard bank. The Diagon Alley branch is a snowy-white building that towers over the other shops. It has burnished bronze doors, and is staffed entirely by Goblins. Gringotts' differs from other banks in that instead of investing the money deposited by its customers, it simply places it in locked vaults located in a series of catacombs below the building. Therefore, when you return to collect your money, you get exactly the same coins back that you left there, and you don't get any interest. On the plus side, Gringotts is deemed impossible to steal from, although Professor Quirrell did manage to break in (with the help of Lord Voldemort) during the 1991-1992 school year. During the summer of 1996, the Goblins imposed so many new and unpleasant security measures on the bank it took hours for witches and wizards to make withdrawals. Bill Weasley withdrew some of Harry's money for him that summer so Harry wouldn't have to wait in the lines.

Madam Malkin's Robes for All Occasions
This shop is the place to buy your Hogwarts uniform, and robes for all other purposes as well. Each set of robes is made to measure, although this process doesn't take particularly long thanks to enchanted tape measures. Madam Malkin herself is a squat, smiley witch with a preference for dressing in mauve. Normally a composed witch, Madam Malkin was flustered and jittery during the summer of 1996, although she did keep her shop open. She did her level best to divert a fight between Draco Malfoy and Harry and Ron when they all went to get school robes at the same time. While nothing happened, the experience left Madam Malkin so flustered she hurried Harry, Ron, and Hermione from her shop, accidentally trying to sell Hermione wizard's dress robes instead of witch's dress robes in her haste.

Magical Menagerie
Magical Menagerie
This is the place to go for any type of pet, including owls, although they have some competition from Eeylops on this front. Inside, the shop is smelly and very noisy, as cages line the walls from top to bottom and very few of the animals inside are of a quiet persuasion. In addition to owls, customers can purchase purple toads, Fire Crabs, Streelers, self-transfiguring rabbits, cats, ravens, Puffskeins, rats and probably a lot more besides. The Magical Menagerie is also the place to go for advice on double-ended newts. Hermione bought Crookshanks at the Magical Menagerie as an early birthday gift for herself in August 1993. Crookshanks is not an ordinary cat, but half-cat and half-Kneazle. This may, incidentally, be against school rules, as the rules make no mention of accepting Kneazles as pets.

Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands Since 382BC
Ollivanders: Makers of Fine Wands Since 382BC
The most popular supplier of wands to the British wizarding population, it seems as though all present and former Hogwarts students got their wands here. Mr Ollivander is a slightly strange old man with silvery eyes, which in Harry's opinion are rather creepy. He also has a remarkable memory, being able to remember every wand he has ever sold. The shop itself is tiny, with walls lined from floor to ceiling with wand boxes. Mr Ollivander attends to each customer himself, handing him or her a succession of wands until the optimum match for the witch or wizard in question is found. Unfortunately, Mr Ollivander went missing in July 1996. His shop did not show any signs of a struggle, so it is uncertain whether he went willingly or was taken by force. As Remus Lupin remarked, "[We'll] make do with other makers…But Ollivander was the best, and if the other side have got him it's not so good for us" (HBP, p 106).

Quality Quidditch Supplies
Quality Quidditch Supplies
This shop is always guaranteed to have a crowd of gawping young witches and wizards hanging around it, as it stocks (amongst other things) the latest and most advanced Quidditch broomsticks that Galleons can buy. In 1991 this was the Nimbus 2000, whilst in 1993 this broom was superseded by the Firebolt. If you needed to ask the price, you couldn't afford it.

Twillfit and Tatting's
Twillfit and Tatting's
A robe shop. Whilst Madam Malkin's appears to be the first choice for the majority of the wizarding population, this must also be an establishment of some quality, as the Malfoys are happy enough to shop there. Narcissa and Draco Malfoy decided to take their custom there after an altercation with Harry, Ron and Hermione in Madam Malkin's in the summer of 1996.

Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes
Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes
The new joke shop set up by Fred and George Weasley to sell their joke products. Located at Number 93, Diagon Alley, Weasleys Wizard Wheezes specializes in Headless Hats, Skiving Snackboxes, WonderWitch products, Portable Swamps, Canary Creams, and a vast selection of fireworks. All of the products have been carefully tested, both on a string of gullible Hogwarts students during the twins' last year at the school (they left late in the 1995-1996 school year) and the twins themselves. More information on Weasleys Wizard Wheezes, can be found here.

Apothecary
This is the ideal place to buy potion ingredients, although it does smell of bad eggs and rotten cabbages inside. They sell - amongst other things - silver Unicorn horns (21 Galleons apiece), black beetle eyes (5 Knuts per scoop), and dragon liver (17 Sickles an ounce, which according to at least one customer is rather expensive). There are also barrels of slimy stuff, jars of herbs, roots and powders, along with feathers, fangs and claws.
