The Slave Caste The field worker is the lowest level of slave. The next level is the slave who works in a shop for a master. The next level is the house slave who works in the master's house. Every slave position falls within these limits. The higher ranked the family you work for, the higher the slave is ranked within the caste. Therefore the High Lord's slaves are the highest ranked.
The Servant Caste This caste follows the same basic system of ranking as the slave caste.
The Farmer Caste This caste is above servant. The bigger the farm you own and the more slaves you own for your farm, the higher in the caste system you are. A small farmer will always loose an arguement with a farmer who has a lot of land.
The Maker Caste This caste is based on skill. Everyone in this caste is a craftsman, whether they make pottery, weave, work with silver, etc. The level of skill is your rank within the caste. The levels go: Apprentice, Journeyman, Master, and High Master. To reach each level you must take a test.
Village Official Caste This caste is for the officials in a village. Officials are tax collectors, police officers, doctors, judges, etc. Everyone within this caste is equal.
Merchant Caste Within this caste, everyone is equal. Merchants are the traders. They make their money buying goods from the makers and then selling the goods in other places. They sell and trade food as well as goods. Merchants see more of Zeana than most people see in a lifetime.
Soldier Caste This is the caste for those within the army. This is the caste most often broken. Whenever military forces are needed, citizens are drafted for this caste, and once their draft time is over, they go back to their old caste. Any children had durring their time in this caste are members of this caste. Drafters, as these men are called, are considered the lowest, their children are the next level up, and then it is the ranks of the soldiers. Ranks are: Picket Men, Front Liner, Mid Liner, Rear Liner, Calvary, Gunman, and Ranker. The Ranker is the man who brings down the orders from the officers. Rankers are given command over teams and squads by their commanding officers.
Officer Caste The Officer Caste system is leveled with Officer ranks. To be an officer, you must be born to that caste. You can only go up officer ranks. If you are the child of an officer, your rank is compared to your Father's rank. As soon as you become an officer though, you immediatly go to the rank you are within this caste. The ranks are: First, Secondary, Captain, Major, Lt. Colonel, Colonel, First General, Major General, Lt. General, and High General. Companies are commanded by Captains, Battalions by Lt. Colonels, Brigades by Colonels or First Generals, Divisions by Major Generals, Cores by Lt. Generals, and the Army is under the High General.
Knights The Knights have level amongst each other. Knights are the first noble class of Zeana. Knights start as Pages when they are young. When they turn six they are taken on as a squire. By the age of ten they are considered a Lowly Knoght, though they are still treated as a Squire. They do not become a full Knight until they have passed the Knight examination that they take at 18. If they pass, they become a Knight, if not they continue studying for a year. They can only take the test 3 times. If you fail the third time, they remain a Lowly Knight the rest of their life, except the Knight that was tutoring you will not have to work with you any longer. Champions are Knights who are extremely good and they have earned honor in battles and duels. They champion people in the court, dueling for first blood. Heroes are those who do something so great that they reach hero status. Heroes are extremely rare.
Nobility Caste The Nobility Caste is made up of Watchers and Lords. Regular Watchers are the people of the nobility class who are under an appionted High Watcher. The High Watcher is appointed by the Watchers. Watchers will normaly rule over a town or more, and they report into the High Watcher twice a year at regular times, and also for emergencies or issues they cannot deal with.
The Lords are family to the High Lord. The High Lord comes from among their ranks. The Lords rule over High Watchers. They report to the High Lord.
Spys and Assasins These people report to no one except their employers. They are treated like gold if they are good and like dirt if they are not. It is best though if you are a spy or an assassin to work for the High Lord because you have scant protection through him. Everyone in this class uses false names. Ranking in this "grouping" is based on how good of an assasin or spy you are. These are the freest people in Zeana other than the rebels.
