Title: We need to get ready to finish this.
Description: For serious.

Anets - November 19, 2007 12:32 AM (GMT)
Okay, we're really slowing down here, and I think we should set a deadline for material. I'm gonna suggest that all material must be in by the end of the year, and then we'll start on composing it into a final PDF. What say all you to that?

Sig - November 28, 2007 01:21 AM (GMT)
Pshhh really??
Wizards of the Coast takes a loooot longer to write a loooot less.

Then what deadline do you suggest?

Talisman - November 28, 2007 04:54 AM (GMT)
While I agree with Sig, we ain't WotC (thank Cthulhu). I suggest we shoot for the end of January, what with the X-mas holidays and all; December's a hectic enough month as it is. At the end of Januray, if anyone needs an extention, we can deal with it then.

My two cents.

Sig - November 28, 2007 10:46 PM (GMT)
What Talisman stated

Anets - November 29, 2007 12:20 AM (GMT)
Alright, end of January. Anyone oppose?

Sig - November 29, 2007 05:59 AM (GMT)
Wellll.....

Anets - January 20, 2008 08:44 AM (GMT)
Are we still good for the final submission date being January? Things don't have to be finalized then, but I'd like to get all the possible material accounted for then.

Talisman - January 21, 2008 04:29 AM (GMT)
Depends exactly what we want. I can always come up with new material.

Right now, I've got a large number of monsters, two base classes, a couple of PrC's, a bunch of feats, and one or two odds and ends.

BTW, alesian took all the fey courts material, which kinda screws our fluff. We're not lacking for crunch, however.

EpicEvokerElf - January 21, 2008 05:40 AM (GMT)
Wait, no fluff? How exactly did Alesian 'take' it all? Also, I count at least three or four base classes (remember the Witch?).

Blessed be,
E3

EDIT: Dreamer, Enigmist, Bright Blade, Witch... Any more?

Talisman - January 21, 2008 06:52 AM (GMT)
Alesian had written up a lot of stuff on the Fey Courts. However, s/he has since edited (read: deleted) those posts. Check the "fey courts" thread; all the posts by alesian that read "--" were once full of fluff.

And I was referring only to my classes and such.

Oh, and you missed the Gypsy.

Edit: And the Benefactor and Malefactor.

Anets - January 21, 2008 07:28 AM (GMT)
Oh. I didn't know Alesian deleted all posted material. That sort've sets us back a bit... :S Should we extend the time or something?

Echoes of Deception - January 22, 2008 01:18 AM (GMT)
End of January? Cripes, y'all. I just got here. I guess there's no more waiting around for great inspiration. I'll have to settle for good inspiration.

Here we go, then. What does everyone feel is "missing" from what is already listed? Tell me, and I'll crack down. That is, of course, if my ideas are welcome.

Talisman - January 22, 2008 02:04 AM (GMT)
Echoes, your ideas are absolutely welcome here. I've seen how creative you can be, and that's exactly what we need here.

The end of Januray deadline isn't set in stone...especially since we seem to be getting an influx of new blood, perhaps it'd be worth bumping it back a month. I do want to see this complete at some point, but I also don't want to shut out new people/new ideas. What do y'all think?

Of course.

It sounds like we'll be delaying a bit, as we lost large portions of fluff material.

In addition, I'd like to have more feats, if possible.

EpicEvokerElf - January 22, 2008 02:23 AM (GMT)
Why did Alesian leave?

Blessed be,
E3

Sig - January 22, 2008 03:08 AM (GMT)
Only he/she knows entirely.

While they claim I was the reason, that's pure bullshit. Muah... grade A mindgame right there.
Truth is, this project is flailing, and we're scraping to get this wrapped up and move on.
It was started half a year ago.
Not everyone has that kind of mental endurance and focus.

And even worse, some fickle people use manipulative emotional strategies to pass blame.
It's like taking a dump in the sandbox right before you leave if some kid pissed you off; you just make yourself look bad rather than any witty parting statement, or flat-out reason why you just couldn't put up the effort of playing nicely with others.

In general though, you must realized that you are in an internet forum, and any kind of person will be on the other end of those posts.
If you don't like something you read, then leave. That's how the interbutt works.

Talisman - January 22, 2008 03:44 AM (GMT)
Take it easy, Sig. You're not the most tactful of people...this may be the internet, but that's no reason to throw politeness away entirely.

Sig - January 22, 2008 04:11 AM (GMT)
This might be another instance where my verbosity is mistaken for emotional investment.

Flailing? Did you mean failing? Either way, the project is moving along quite fine, if you ask me. We definitely have enough material for a book. We just need to polish it and present it, which, if it comes down to everyone else giving up, I'd be willing to do by myself (though I really don't think that'll happen).

While I also find it highly distasteful of Alesian, I don't want to stir up more problems, so if we could calm down, that'd be ideal.

While we're on that, I'm adding a material usage agreement.

Sig - January 22, 2008 07:35 AM (GMT)
I meant flailing, as in that so many are coming and going out of such a small populous, compared to... say... some of the more fervent netbook projects on the Wizard forum, such as the "Races of the Horde" collection.
Simply put, there's more Orc fans than Fey fans. Probably always.
I guarantee you I'm not quitting, I will stick through this project to the end, but the lack of gamer interest seriously disappoints me. It's discouraging.

Your hope is uplifting, though, Anets. If you see it as doing fine, I'll see it like that too.

Right now at this moment I'm doing a martial arts / warrior class for my girlfriend in a campaign we joined, but at least every few days and even evenings after my job is done for the day I get back to trying to figure out how this project is going to come together as a cohesive unit.
I spend hours out of every week pondering not only my own contributions but the synergy of others and the setting as a whole.
That's how much I want this Feybook to be successful, even in the slightest degree.
... but not at the expense of losing members.

IMHO Galliard and Alesian were inclined to leave anyway, before difficulties with me, if that really was ever the issue. It could have been me, or anyone, or anything offensive eventually down the road, but it happened recently and messily and we got to figure out what to do with the stuff they left behind.

Talisman - January 22, 2008 05:21 PM (GMT)
Just so y'all know, I'm in for the duration as well. I've waited too long for a fey D&D product to bail on this one.

Good call on the material usage agreement, Anets.

Echoes of Deception - January 22, 2008 11:41 PM (GMT)
Fluff and feats? I can do that. I'll start immediately, if you like. Someone really should go along behind me and polish the work, though. I can be creative, but my end products usually need some help.

Talisman - January 23, 2008 12:32 AM (GMT)
Don't worry, Echoes...PEACHing is expected and is not a problem.

I would also add: work on something that interests you. In my experience, you get a much better end product if it's something you care about instead of just "what we need."

Hell YEAAASS

Zarahon - January 23, 2009 03:56 AM (GMT)
Wow I've been gone a while, honestly my sporadic attention span put this project off my radar for a while, not to mention the feeling of being ignored when I had an idea about a Fey sub-Court idea to be companion to Alesian's awesome Season Courts (sad to see they're gone now even thought originally I liked them so much I actually saved them on my computer). But I see it's coming close to ending but I hope I can squeeze in a few ideas here and there before a proposed deadline. :D
