After canceling my other scenery, I decided to do a track only scenery, instead of the track being part of the airport.

I present you, Watsonville Speedway!
It is a 1/4 mile dirt track in real life.
I have raced here a few times and go there every week they have the races, not to mention, I have a friend who races there every week.

Its still a work in progress, but here are some screenshots anyway.

Very impresive. Are you using stock scenery objects or custom-made objects for the bleachers and such?

Anyways, that looks like a perfect place for the Hummer. Nice work. cool.gif

Stock objects. So far there are no ways to add custom objects (that I know of), but there are plenty of stock ones.

By the way, your Corvette works almost perfectly in FSX. It seems to drive and handle alot better in FSX cool.gif

Well I have decided to create the whole thing (or most of it anyway) in gmax, and Have some actual banked turns and an infield that is raised about a foot and a half above the actual track like in Real life.

Also Katahu, do you know if there is a way for me to create the outside barriers so they actually keep you on the track?

Well, you might try rendering the barriers as a separate, drivable platform in Gmax. That way, when the vehicles touch the barriers, they should react the same way as actually hitting a hard surface; but at the same time, you might want to remove the crash boxes as well. Crash boxes are invisible barriers that render the effects of a typical FS aircraft hitting a building. You should be able to remove them via the attach tool in Gmax.

By the way, you might want to keep an eye out for any blind spots that might occur on the surface you'll be creating. I have that issue in FS9; however, I have no idea if the issue has been addressed in FSX.

Good luck.

PS: Would you like to have that Chevy repaint posted on the site? It looks nice with all the scratches. cool.gif

Alright, I'll try that in GMAX, but with my limitated knowlege of GAMX it will be a while before this is finished.

About the repaints, I will get them together and send them when I get a chance. wink.gif

I expiremented with creating the track with Gmax about a month ago, but couldnt do anything really, because of my lack of knowlege of Gmax.

I am thinking of picking it back up this weekend, because now all of that drivabe surfaces for FS seems so simple now. I could release what is in those screenshots as a version 0.5 or something if you want, because all of that is just one .bgl for FSX cuz its all defalt objects.

I do plan to create a pretty detailed version that is exactly (or as close as I can get) to the real track. We do have banked turns here in real life so it should make the turning a bit easier, since it is only a 1/4 mile. I do have all of the track measurements and banking angles, and I plan to start work on it again after I get the challenger ready to export, and this other scenery I am working on (which is all done just need to figure out how to get it imported into FSX)

Wow I just typed alot biggrin.gif ohmy.gif

EDIT:

It's funny I was just reading the old replies in this thread, and what you were saying about the drivable surfaces and stuff for the walls, when you first posted I had no clue what you were talking about at all, but now that I have been working with Gmax for a few months straight I know exactly what you are saying, and I will try that biggrin.gif
