felt like making a thread dedicated to helping those who are interested in watching shows they haven't heard about yet or they've heard it but not sure what it's about.

Renkin 3-kyuu Magical? Pokahn or Magical Pokan or simply Magipoka

this show may have been missed but it had the time slot before the almighty SHnY aired (i think). anyways, i suggest this show simply because it reminded me so much of the GA anime....except with fanservice. there's 12 episodes (two 15 min. episodes in one airing...sound familiar?) with 3 specials. there isn't one main story but 23 different ones if my math is right. sound familiar again right? the characters include 4 legendary creatures (all female) including Pachira the vampire, Liru the werewolf girl, aiko the robot (similar to frankenstein), and uma the witch. apparently they're all princesses from their world and are living together in a gigantic tree. and that's about it. you can't guess what story they can make out of it. like i said, it's very similar to GA. oh and if you're wondering, here's the seiyuus:

Pachira - Hirano Aya
Aiko - Akesaka Satomi
Liru - Nabatame Hitomi
Uma - Saito Momoko

....like i need to mention the first reason i wanted to watch this show. actually this show gives birth to what we would hear for hirano aya in SHnY, NANA/deathnote, a little from LS and pretty much everything she'll do after this show. akesaka satomi is just as pleasant to hear as well which makes it even better.

defnitely a show to watch especially if you're a GA anime fan (if you haven't guessed yet). where else can you hear the characters speaking engrish in one episode 98% of the time which is probably the best episode. oh and one last thing, the intro is really deceiving. you'll think i was joking by saying it was like GA but guess again.

yay, double posts. seems like my...uhh....rant may have driven some people off from doing the same....sorry! as mentioned in some other thread, i was just procrastinating from doing my homework and the result was the above post.

but now, i shall do the second goal of this thread, asking what a certain show is about. Touka Gettan anyone? not sure if anyone is following this anymore but i completely missed out on this. i know that they're airing it backwards but is there anything really anything special about it worthy enough to take up more of my precious time? i know they'll be airing it in proper order later on and i was wondering if i should jump in with the "novelty" idea of airing it backwards or not. seriously, that seems like the stupidest thing to do though. sounds like they thought of it last minute and hoped to get the same praise SHnY got for it's mixed up episode order.

I don't think it is your rants whatsoever. It may be because they don't have any ideas to add. *shrug* At least that is my reason

Wellll...I think at this time, we all kinda already have watched the same stuffs, right? Kanon, SHnY, LS....that stuff. For now, since we have less people, and summer is ending, kinda hard ot find people to give this info to. I just have no time to try these anime now. School coming. But otherwise, I'd definately try them out.

I think Touka Gettan was too out there for me but you may be able to enjoy it. It's a lot of fanservice and the artwork is attractive and all but things are just strange. There are some parts that are a little disturbing but I guess it's a show to watch if you can't find anything else.

If I had to recommend a show that someone didn't watch, it'd be Hitohira. There was a small stretch in that show where it was a little ubwatchable but it was a definitely good show to dedicate some time too. It kind of got run over in all the hype of Lucky Star and the like and I think it was a nice watch just like Manabi Straight!, which I believe was also ignored within it's season.

hmm....well, guess i'll give it a go once it airs in order. heard shimizu ai and noto mamiko wrote their own script for 2 episodes which makes me a bit curious.

@Likkun
hahah, had a feeling you'd mention hitohira. sadly, i had to drop it for reasons forgotten. as a side note, if you don't know yet, the main heroine from hitohira is actually in nagasarete airantou in which she does a really good job for still being a newbie. she doesn't sound at all like she did in hitohira. ooo, ooo, i watched manabi straight while it aired! glad i did because i got to hear chihara minori's concert song, heheh.

everyone loves a double post! anyways, not wanting to let this thread die, i shall put up more suggested shows. these are a bit different except for one of them. unlike before, i won't go into detail but just list them instead....kind of. and the theme is....shows about otakus!

Genshiken (season 2 coming this fall)
Densha Otoko - not an anime but a drama; if you haven't seen it, you HAVE to
Akihabara@Deep - another drama; currently watching it, but i like it already

why dramas? *shrug*, something different once in a while. and what beats seeing otakus standing up defending what they love? it's the classic geek becoming more than a geek yet they still have their geekiness side of them.

Well, I like Blue Dragon so far, but I haven't gotten past 7. I want to watch more, ever since I watched the gameplay of the game

Densha Otoko is such classic stuff. I think it's something that a wannabe Otaku has to see at least once or else they can't inherit the title. I have nothing against J-Doramas though, they essentially end up like any slice of life anime just with real people instead of drawn characters. Otherwise, plots are nearly identical.

For example...
Nodame Cantabile - I think I enjoy the dorama version of it over the anime. I don't know why but I think the live action actors get it a pretty good vibe. That, and I think they do a fun job with the musical segments in comparison with the anime since you physically see them playing.

Sushi Ouji - This dorama is running this season and is basically a freak mix of Yakitate! Japan and Dragonball Z of sorts. I think whoever decided to write it just got all his inspiration and ideas right out of the Weekly Shounen Jump.

Of course I know a load of other doramas (somehow I'm well rounded like that) but they're not as anime/manga esque. Just doramas in general.

( ̄△ ̄) shock..........wow, i think my image of you changed a little Likkun....in a good way of course. to think that you would know quite a bit of doramas is actually a good thing. for one, i didn't know nodame cantabile was a dorama, which i shall be searching for now. what's even more intriguing is sushi ouji. all you had to say yakitate japan and dragon ball z がったい together and that's good enough for me. thanks for the tip! this thread actually came in handy

Yeah, my older sister and some of her friends have always been into doramas, while me and my friends have always been into anime. But I think I'm the only one who's really crossed into the other side. But like I said, I count but anime and doramas on equal levels. Both do things that the others can't and they do them well.

Just be a little wary with Sushi Ouji. I'm not really that up to date with it but my older sister tells me that the TV ratings haven't been great. I'm never one to listen to them, since some really stupid shows get good ratings, but it's something to watch out for. Still, I think that backwards sense of humor isn't just something that people are used to.

i'm not really in the dorama field of expertise, densha otoko is actually the first one that i've seen and i was very impressed by it. afterwards though, i didn't want to venture out into that area because adding dorama watcher to the description of anime watcher/manga reader/video game player would just be too much. not to mention doramas are longer in time slot than anime but shorter in episodes....usually.

i'm pretty open minded about things when it comes to watching. if the majority of people don't like it, that just makes me even more determined to watch it and usually end up liking it.

Yep, doramas are something that can be worth your time. You just need to watch out for the ones intended for the 50 year old women, just like any other country it has to have some for them.

If you want to watch some good ones that aren't anime based, there's a few more that are definitely worth a recommendation.

That's sooo true.
I'm watching doramas now (It's Densha Otoko fault!!)
More precisely "Boku Dake ni Madonna". I feel a little stupid, but what the hell... It's fun and I have a soft spot for this type of things...
Byes nano-da!
