Jared pulled out a small sword from the fire, and smiled. Another job well done, he thought. Ever since Jared had turned 14, he had been following in his father's steps as a blacksmith, not only making swords, but knives, rods, and other metal things. Jared put the sword aside. He grabbed a cup of water and put out the fire in the bellows. Then he cleaned up and walked out of the forge. The sun was high this day in Mossflower, and today had been exhausting: two swords, a shield, and half a gate. Jared's forge was hidden in the forest; only he knew where it was. It was small: on one side was a rack of hammers, and below it, shelves of iron and steel, and a bit of Maraulian mithril. In the middle was an anvil, and behind a fireplace with a bellows; a typical blacksmith's forge. Jared closed the door to the forge and sat down against the trunk of a tree. He closed his eyes, and was asleep within minutes.

Jared sighed. "I...I made it for a friend, it was the first thing I ever made in this forge." He put it back in his pocket, blushing. "At the Abbey, I.....um, well......I promised to make it for her, and...um...." He picked up the rod of iron and began to work. Within a couple of hours, the gate was finished. Jared held it up to the light of the fire. "It's exactly as the list described: 4 feet tall, 2 feet wide, and made of iron." He put the gate outside and was just about to put out the fire when his ear tweaked. Something was drawing near, and it was moving fast.

Bare paws flew through the forest, soaring over the emerald sea. A red streak that would pause for nothing, absolut...absolu..
'Achoo!'
The streak paused, and wiped its nose, embarassed. It huffed, and decided just to walk from now on.
The streak....
Nope. Nothing could be said about a fox walking nonchalantly through the forest on a pickup, much less say anything remotely close to a 'streak'.
--- Momentum lost, a disgruntled Rior slumped through the forest. He groaned. Another lost idea! That was...wa..
'Achoo!'
The third idea he lost just now! How infuriating, how...how..
'Achoo!'
How do you get a cold in the middle of spring?! Especially if you're a northern fox, a foreign northwestern fox a that. No emperor should ever be subjected to a co..co..
"ACHOO!"
Cold. Rior rubbed his snout, and dug out a few more special herbs to stop the sneezing. This was...embarassing, to say the least.
Well, at least he'd have something to look forward to: A certain smith had been called to make a few things, and that place should be aroun...
Rior smiled as he caught the scent of the outdoor smithy.
He took out his ever important paw-mirror and checked himself out. 'little trinket saved my tail a lot!' he thought.
Rior Erro Slainferro cut a rather dashing figure. With his kind, yet obviously noble face, impressive, (some say sexy) emerald eyes, tall, lean but strong build, neatly shaven whiskers and brushed fur, primped tail, and with a good head on his shoulders, it was clear ths fox was somebody important.
If his body wasn't enough, just look at what he was wearing! Clad in a gold-trimmed red doublet, functional deep yellow dress pants (Fancy trousers made expecially tough, a godsend for excapes), but bare pawed. (His boots were...he'd rather not say), and gold rimmed glasses, if this fox wasn't importaint, at least he was rich or somthing.
Oh, and he's sporting a strange short scythe on his back, so don't even think about it.
"Right," he muttered to himself, "Let us...continue,"
He stepped forth into the view of whomever it was who was working at the forge.
"Good morn'!" He called out in a loud voice, "I am thankful that you would take up such an offer, good sir! I would have met you in person, if not for my duties. I am Lord Rior Slainferro of Rikusa, and it was I who requested your prowlness!"
He feverently prayed his accent wasn't too thick; it was some part northerner, some part western, and some part completly forgien.
"I--" he spotted a familiar sight, "Oh, Miss Kiara, it is a pleasure to see you again. I am afraid I am here on business, sorry."

A squirrel?!? Working a forge?!?
Kiara too?!?
He forced himself to calm down. After all, this is a forgein place. The unexpected, after all he's been though, shouldn't be surprising. But things always had a way, didn't they?
However once this squirrel drew a sword, so did Rior. "My friend, there is no need for violence, but if you would insist," he flicked the scythe, exposing a hidden length of chain. "A weapon from our eastern enemies. I can tell from your stance, your's is an improvised style. I'm far out of your league."
With that, he put his weapon away.
"I could not be sure that the proper one would recive that note, and I would not like to leave traceable evidence. My apologies. Please, let's be civil, and sheath your blade. I would like to see my, your work good sir. I trust you have put forth your all."

Rior smiled. The lovely Kiara, almost everyone he knew was in some way in love with her. Tamm, Josh, and May were hopelessly head-over-tails smitten, and maybe even Thainen, but knowing his brother, he's probably just playing with her.
The two squirrels were always competing with each other. With the addition of Kiara...things only got worse, moreso since May was in the scene too.
Rior held up a paw when she mentioned food, "Ah, no thank you. You see, I have countless things to do-for little May's birthday is soon! Within the season!" (As in, fall, winter, etc.)
The scratched his head nervously, "He'll be fourteen, a good year. I needed a smith outside of Rikusa to create his gift, for news does travel very quickly there. Specially if you're as well loved as our little May. Someone would almost certainly let it slip, and little May's surprise would be ruined!"
He frowned, "Which is why he isn't with us on this little excursion, and neither is Thainen. I am the Emperor, so I do have a legitimate excuse to leave on my own, although," he shifted uncomfortably, "I did have to lie..somewhat. I told them that I'd be off seeing someone very politically important, which is enough to get Thainen to leave, but it often gets little May very excited."
Rior hid a chuckle, then turned to Jared, "You are very important now! You have made something for a, 'political reason', correct?" he winked.
He laughed aloud then, and asked, "So, what sort of payment shall I give you. I have my two favorite treasure hunters not too far from here, and they can get anything that exists...in a way. What is it, Sir Jared, that you desire?"
