You always were impatient! It does look really cool, that I can feel no shame in admitting.

Now wouldn't it be nice if ALL Marvel heroes were in movie form like that? Okay, maybe not such a big scale, but it would be pretty cool for the new generation.

If only DC had the same kind of planning for their movies...

Have you seen any of the other ones? (The two Iron Man movies, The Incredible Hulk, Thor, or Captain America: The First Avenger) The movie does do a good job explaining everyone, but I feel it makes a more satisfying viewing experience if you've seen at least two of the different heroes' movies. I recommend Iron Man and Thor the most, personally.

I've seen both Iron Man movies and the Hulk, so I know that SHIELD is involved with the two of them. I've yet to see the others.

I at least recommend Thor, because it explains Loki's backstory (he's the main villain in The Avengers). Plus I really thought it was a good movie, but of course I'm a huge Norse Mythology nut. tongue.gif

Thinking about this movie more and more (especially after the catastrophe that was Dark Knight Rises IMO) it may end up being my favorite movie. I mean, I saw it three times in theaters and didn't get bored any of those times, which for a 2 hour plus movie is REALLY rare for me. In fact, I'm planning on seeing it at least one more time when it hits the dollar theaters. Everything about this movie works. The dialogue, the characters, the action, the pacing, the humor, the heroes, the villains, everything. I mean, my previous favorite movie, TMNT, I'll admit had a lot of flaws, but I was able to look past them because of just how enjoyable the movie was for me. The Avengers? The only flaw I can really think of is that Loki's plan seemed a bit poorly-explained (with the whole "humanity was meant to be ruled"), but that's just a minor nitpick.

Step aside, TMNT. I have a new favorite movie. biggrin.gif

I liked the Avangers eneven though I'm a bigger fan of Iron Man over the other heros.

I think what Loki ment by humanity was meant to be ruled is that we need to be ruled by a wise ruler (aka himself) because of all the stupid crap humans do and have done such as the holocast for example.

I agree! Plus, I think he was power hungry and saw humans as easy prey. And it would make Thor mad!

Personally, my favorite part about the Avengers is that Marvel did such an amazing job of setting it up. All of the super-powered characters had some kind of movie tie-in, and it was fun watching them develop separately before coming together as a team.

While I think that Avengers is an amazing movie, I will stop far short of calling it perfect. For what they needed, it worked. For what the world was hoping for, it fit the bill exactly. For the expectation, the payoff was perfect. But after watching it, it seems to me that some comic fans will be disappointed with the lineup presented in this version, and can only hope that with similar planning, Marvel can pull off an even-better Phase 2 with more classic Avengers.

Perhaps the worst part of it is found in how the rest of the world will change from it. DC Comics has quite the stable of heroes too, and now that they see Marvel making beaucoup bucks on the Avengers, it's time to completely unveil their flagship team, the Justice League. Trick is, nothing they do can come close to the foresight and advance planning of Marvel, making it seem like a dull response and a bad mimic. If it wasn't for the Avengers, DC would not be under so much pressure, and movie-goers who particularly like superhero movies (I'll include myself) don't have to expect amazing teamups like the Avengers.

But I'll get off my soapbox and put on my "geek glasses": The Avengers was AWESOME!!!!

Batmans really the only DC character that has had much success in theater and Superman but of the two Batman is the most popular
