derane academy.
Imagine it. Year 1905. Baltus Winifred built Derane Academy by himself with his own two hands. Back then, it was a one-room school, not yet one of the country's biggest boarding schools.
As the years went by, DA expanded to what it is now. After a lot of remodelling, the next generation of students are now coming to DA. They come in many varieties and groups- The Ins, The Cheerleaders, The Musicians, everyone in their own little clique.
Next comes the endless drama of all the students. DA seems to revolve around drama. Whether it's the Winter Formal or Exams, there's always some drama here or there.

"O Romeo, Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo?" Aliyah cried out. "Deny thy father and refuse thy name." Aliyah wasn't the most normal girl at Derane Academy. The actress was very offbeat....eccentric, you could say. You could often find her in the courtyard. She's always reciting Shakespeare there. According to her, 'It is the romantic place the world has ever seen among these parts.'

People passed by Aliyah, whispering to their friends and pointing at Aliyah. "What's with that weirdo?" someone asked. What followed was an outburst of giggles. Aliyah didn't give a care about what they said. She loved Shakespeare.

On this particular breezy afternoon, Aliyah had her long, brown hair curled. She actually looked very beautiful. You would think she was one of the "Ins". She has the right looks to be one. She had a long, aqua colored dress on. Her book in hand, she stood up on the bench, crying out to the sun.

Yes, weird, much? Aliyah glanced at her book, then recited, "Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I'll no longer be a Capulet." She claimed she was working on Act 2, Scene 1. She was determined to memorize the entire Act 2 before mid-term.

Emmy heard Aliyah's voice carry from across campus, and she knew immediately what Aliyah was doing. It was Romeo and Juliet, again. Aliyah was practically the living version of that play, she quoted it so much. But that didn't bother Emmy, because she loved and kind of plays or drama.

Emmy bounced over to where Aliyah was reciting, a smile crossing her face. Aliyah was on a bench, so Emmy stood below her, and extended an arm.

"But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the east, and Juliet is the sun!-"

Romeo. Emmy really wasn't the Romeo type, being a girl and all, but she could have fun with her friend all the same. She brushed her long brown hair back from her face, glad that she was wearing pants instead of a skirt. She lowered her voice and continued with the lines.

"Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,
Who is already sick and pale with grief,
That thou her maid art far more fair than she!"

A smile covered Aliyah's face as she saw Emmy bounce up. Oh, her dear Emmy. Emmy bounced over to Aliyah, chiming in with the lines. Emmy was doing the Romeo lines.

Emmy and Aliyah were pretty much twin sisters. They were exactly alike- both twins and actors. Aliyah took Emmy's arm and stepped down from the bench. "Ay me!" she murmured to herself, her smile seemed to be glued to her face. Once she was down on the concrete patio, the smile had still not disappeared.

"Impressive stuff," she said. "You know this scene by heart? I'm still trying to memorize it." People still stared at the awkward pair, pointing and whispering things.

[oh man, sorry that was so short. X.x writer's block.]

Emmy giggled a bit when the people stared at them. So what if they were positively raving mad? It made life loads more interesting than it would be otherwise. She turned her attention to Aliyah.

"Oh, I know bits and pieces. That's one of Romeo's most important lines, in my opinion. What Juliet wouldn't melt at the sound of them?" Emmy shrugged and brushed her hair behind her shoulders. "Anyway, Romeo and Juliet isn't nearly as good as Twelfth Night." She smiled mischeviously, knowing that Aliyah didn't agree. But what could she say? Viola was the bomb.

Emmy noticed her sister, Kate, walk by, and she waved. "Did you know that my sister was named after a Shakespeare character?" She asked randomly. It was true. Emmy kind of wished that she had been named after a character from Shakespeare. Like Celia from As You Like It. That would be cool.

Aliyah nodded. The windy day blew her hair about of her face, and it also caused the end of her dress to lift up about an inch above the ground, letting the cool air whisk against her ankles. She sighed. "Yes, I know! It's so...romantic, don't you think?" she said in her airy, poetic voice. Then she realized what Emmy had said next. "Wait a minute! Romeo & Juliet is much better then Twelfth Night! Why, Romeo and Juliet is supposedly one of Shakespeare’s most best and well-known books."

She sighed. "Really? Why, that's marvelous! I wish I was named after a Shakespeare character, too. Then I'd really be leaving in a fairytale." she let out another sigh. Aliyah sighs a lot- you'll get used to it once you are around her a lot.

Emmy held her stomach as she laughed, she was laughing so hard. "Your face!" She said, gasping for air. "I'm sorry, I just love Twelfth Night. The fact that Viola fools all of them just amazes me. And Olivia is so funny!" She loved how Viola managed to have Olivia fall in love with her when she was dressed up as a man. It was classic! Emmy would give anything to play Viola one day.

"Yeah, I wish I was named after a Shakespeare character, like maybe Celia from As You Like It, or Olivia from Twelfth Night. Kate is named after Katherina in The Taming of the Shrew." She tilted her head to one side and looked at Aliyah. "What do you mean? You do live in a fairytale."

Emmy had used to pretend that she was a princess, when she was little. That she was the little girl who walked forever, to catch the setting sun, and that a handsome Prince had found her. But then she would reach the edge of the field behind the house, and Luke would be yelling for her to come home, and she would realize that her Prince was really just the older boy from next door who liked to eat dirt.
