It’s nearing the end of Isabella Swan’s senior year. For most kids in her grade, the only thing they can think about is getting ready to go to college and escaping their little town of Forks, Washington. However, Bella has other things on her mind. She and the Cullen family are nearing the date of her promised transformation, now only a little more than a month away. They still have yet to figure a way around the treaty Carlisle made years ago with the werewolves, which states that “vampires are not to bite a human.” The wording is bite, which causes a problem as a bite is needed to transform Bella into one of their clan.
So what happens when the Volturi end up in town looking for Bella? The Volturi are there to make sure Edward is keeping his promise to turn her. When they find her still human, they condemn the entire family, including Bella, to death. In a desperate attempt to save her beloved vampires, Bella tells the Volturi of the treaty. The Volturi aren’t very happy that the Cullens have made a pact with a group of werewolves restricting the vampires actions. The Volturi then decide something has to be done.
Their answer to the problem? Kill everyone involved. The Cullens, Bella, and the wolves. This is a dangerous game to the vampires and they are in no mood to play. They make no mention of this to the Cullens during their visit, but all diplomatic conversations are a bit strained.
Alice sees their decision in one of her visions and warns the family. Bella is hysterical that all of the people she loves are in danger. Not only the Cullens, but the wolves and her human father, Charlie Swan. Carlisle realizes something must be done and does the unthinkable: he breaks his treaty and enters La Push. He immediately goes to the home of Billy Black. Bella went with him in an attempt to smooth over the tension. The two quickly explain the issue to the older man, who agrees that something must be done in an attempt to protect all of their interests. The two men agree that it would be best to put aside their differences for now and work together to overcome this rather large obstacle.
And so, now wolves, vampires, and one brave human girl must stand in the way of the Volturi. All signs point to their failure and yet they refuse to give up without a fight. Tensions run high but are ignored for the greater good of keeping alive. Things are beginning to look rather dark for these few who may be the only thing standing between Forks and destruction. In the midst of all the chaos that is sure to ensue their treaty, only one thing remains on the minds of those fighting: Who will survive the stand-ff?
As if high school wasn't enough to deal with.
