Oh my... where should I start? Addiction: I anticipate something like that when Tobias ask Reid to tell him that it doesn't make it better and Reid didn't answered. I don't like the idea of Reid taking drugs any more than most of you do but hey... Tobias gave him heorin!! Fact is... it is a powerful drug and quickly(!) cause physical addiction. Reid was given injection for two days at least, he also had an overdose once. So what do you expect? He walks away like nothing happend? But I don't get it why nobody did suspect anything? They knew Tobias took drugs. Gideon and Gracia saw when Reid had a seizure. You don't get a seizure by just being hit, do you? And there something else that bothers me. Mabye it`s just me but.... don't you get examine at the hospital when you get a head wound, somebody beat the crap out of you, you had a seizure, stop breathing and had CPR? I'm sure you do. Well it is only logical that they will discover his drug abuse, isn't it? Flashbacks: I liked the flashbacks, especially the part with his dad and mom. I agree with frog786 about the looks of younger Reid and his Dad. I wish they had shown more about the family issues. It broke my heart when Reids mother was taken away. I felt sooo sorry for Reid. I'm sure that was a hard decision for him. Choose to die: First I thought Reid was going to say Emily. My second guess had been Hotchner. I never thought that he was going to pick JJ. It wasn't her fault when they split up and he was caught by Tobias. So why should he be mad at her? I'm sorry if there are any mistakes but I'm German Bye

*spoiler* Okay, so does anyone else find it funny that a person that is sooo intelligent, and a member the the FBI BAU would voluntarily take drugs that could possibly encourage the schizophrenia that is most likely in his genes due to his Mothers having it... If Reid is so scared of having schizophrenia develop why would he take delusion provoking drugs ... writers messed up here! I did like the introduction of the drugs because is dimmed Reid's best strength, his mental skills and intelligence... which could explain how the father personality outwitted him. It just would have been better to have him not take the drugs voluntarily... maybe go through some withdrawals but not become an addict ... so cliche!! As for those who were hoping for an exorcism ending??? thats not the way split or fractured personalities are usually treated. It would have been nice for tobias to have lived and gotten help integrating his personalities but considering one was a sadist extreme religious nut and the other was a murdering angel it may have been a little difficult to merge them into a stable personality! I just really hope they don't go the route of drug addict for Reid I was SOOO mad when I seen that ending... I mean really it's sooo overdone. they did it on without a trace (another FBI series) does the FBI have a drug problem... I would think that they would have measures in place to screen for these things ... So its a little unbelievable to say the least. grrr... I am so frustrated... I like this show and they are ruining it with this dumb subplot soap opera garbage! DON'T MAKE REID A DRUG ADDICT... oh and the Hotch at clown college theng.... I love it... LMAO!!!

Hey all, newbie . I really liked this episode A LOT. I'm a sucker for angst.
I read about the drug that Reid was addicted too, and oy, that might be a hard one to break.
I don't think the writers are ruining this show with this subplot. Even the most intelligent people can get addicted to drugs, weather they were willfully taking it, or were just forced. They can't really help it.
You guys know Sigmund Freud? The guy was a cocaine addict, but I think he was nuts before the drugs
And I believe they are doing this to Reid, so they can give him some character growth, I mean he's a fragile individual, he needs a certain type of event( such as in this episode) and that came with certain consequences. This will make him stronger, and he will not try to be naiive young agent anymore.
Those are just my 2 cents.
BTW: Does anyone know a site where I can look at Sides?? It appears that some people have access, and I've been dying to know where you can obtain them and get a sneak peak.

@ I love this show: Oh thank you very much! I was afraid that nobody would understand me. Usually I don't comment in English. @ ckb: heroin: I'm sorry. Like I said before... I'm German. Therefore it's possible that I didn't catch the right word. It's hard enough to follow the story line when your first language isn't English. Dilaudid: I did look it up. It is used as a substitute for heroin and morphine. They even describe it as a more powerful 'rush' than other opioids, even more so than heroin. So is it really that unbelievable to become addictive in such a short time? You must consider that every human has a different tolerance for drugs. (Well... I "missed" the episode because in Germany they are still stuck at the first season but somehow I managed to look it anyway.) Bye J

I'm usually one of those remain-in-the-shadows types, but after viewing "Revelations" and reading the comments here, I figured it wouldn't hurt to add my own thoughts. Pardon my ramblings... I enjoyed the episode, though I admit, the scenes of abuse were a bit much for me. I preferred watching the other characters react to what they were seeing. I found the sight of Gideon and Garcia clinging to each other as Reid was beaten to be far more powerful and heart-breaking than the actual beating. Maybe I'm weird that way. As far as the Reid/addiction angle, I'm okay with whichever path the writers choose to follow. If Reid dumps the vials of Dilaudid down the drain, that's great. OTOH, if he falls victim to the drug's siren call (which may be where the writers are headed), it will offer a host of possible dramatic developments, and it could prove quite interesting. Some have commented that the "character addiction" angle is cliche, and if one views all television dramas through a single lens, I suppose that could be true. I haven't seen those other dramas, though, so this would be my first "character addiction" experience since... hmm, Starsky and Hutch (gee, that's not age-revealing at all). Besides, the addicted characters appear on separate shows. I assume they have different backgrounds, so each presents a unique set of circumstances in regard to why he (or she) becomes addicted, how the addiction affects him personally, how it affects his interpersonal relationships, and how he eventually resolves his addiction. While the technique might be cliched, the end result should be original. Quite honestly, I won't be surprised if Reid takes the drug. His impressive brain is no defense against addiction; in fact, it probably makes him more susceptible. It is one of the things that isolates him, that sets him apart and makes him vulnerable. Intellectually he knows the dangers of Dilaudid and recognizes its addictive properties, but such knowledge applies only to physical addiction. For some people (and most definitely in Reid's case), the psychological addiction is just as strong. And granted, Reid may know a great deal about psychology and its applications to his professional life, but I doubt he has done much toward analzying his own psyche. I don't think Reid received enough of the drug to become physically addicted to it; however, due to the combination of his past trauma and the kidnapping ordeal, he certainly endured an amazing amount of mental anguish. If the Dilaudid offers him respite from it, it may prove too tempting for him. And to make matters worse, I think Reid may have lost objectivity where Tobias was concerned. Though the length of time he was missing was relatively short, it's possible that Reid might have begun to identify with Tobias. They shared many similarities: both were abandoned by a parent; both were left in the care of an unstable parent; both were frequently isolated from "normal" life. Add in the fact that Tobias took care of Reid, and it's easy to see how Reid might have felt a kinship with Tobias. Reid might even have begun to view the personalities as distinct individuals instead of a single man, a serial killer. So, will Reid become addicted? Well, if ever anyone was entitled, it's him. One scene stood out in that episode, though, that offers a bit of hope. When the team ran out of the cabin to search for the cemetery, Gideon remained behind momentarily. He glanced around, and his eyes finally rested upon two items lying on a chair: a pair of handcuffs and a belt. The team knew about Tobias's drug dependency, and I assume Gideon will notice that Reid wasn't beaten with a belt. I'm counting on Gideon to put everything together and realize what's happening... and fix it. Whew! Okay, I've rambled enough; shutting up now. I'll just sit back and see where the show takes us.

Was it? Darn...so much for that theory. Oh well, they'll figure it out somehow. They're pretty smart people.

I arrive here after 3 months, but I must to comment this episode, the 1st I watched in English. Beautiful original voices *____* First of all compliments to Dawson, when I recognized him first I smiled, then I watched him with admiration: play a sadist with triple personality isn't easy, and when he changed his voice...magnificent!!!  Reid's drug: I don't think he will use it, he will think about his bad experience, but, at the end, he will become a better person from it, I'm sure...Reid is Reid I would like he meets his father again^^ When he choosed Hotch I was very happy to know that it was only for send a message to the others; it proves that they have a big understanding  Poor little JJ ;____;

Can I just say that i actually really loved this episode. Wouldn't it have been a little unrealistic if he HADN'T got an addiction?
I thought that this was a fantastic episode. It was acted so well by Matthew, James and the rest of the cast. I also loved the flashbacks - little Spencer was so cute! lol

I loved this episode, bacause it's one of the first episodes (besides the fisher king episodes) where some info on Reid's past is revealed. I find his drug addiction interesting. i don't mean to be mean about it, it's jst that it was unexpected before. But the 2nd time he was given the drugs, he was sorta...i dunno, it just seemed like he changed his minds about it since the first time. When he wasn't very hesitant towards them the 3rd time, i thought it would be about a 90% chance of him continuing drugs. And it was very realistic. i mean, think about it, if YOU just got kidnappeed and was being beaten and was given drugs, wouldn't you have most likely gotten addicted? i really don't like it when people (like my mom) don't like Reid after that. it wasn't really his fault. but if you feel that way, i respect your opinion though. as a huge reid fan, i have to say that him being tortured was awful and cruel and even though Tobias wasn't really being Tobias when he was hurting him, he got what he deserved. i know that's horrible to say, but i love reid! but he did save his life after nearly killing him by giving him cpr..... When he was being tortured, i actually cried. it's not that unusual for me to cry a little bit at movies and books and such, but when he ws being hurt, i cried like a baby! especially when he almost died. i think it might have been even more than when edward left bella in new moon! (i'm also a huge twilight fan) that's all i have to say at the moment, so thanks if you read my going on about this
