Title: North Mammon

ac5000 - November 3, 2006 12:09 AM (GMT)
so...what did you guys think of this episode?...i thought it was pretty good and a great idea to finally show some background on JJ..hopefully they'll do that more on all the other characters too...

what did you guys think?

BlueComb78 - November 3, 2006 02:46 AM (GMT)
I thought it was very interesting in the fact that the team sort of won, but sort of lost as well. It wasn't as cut and dried as most of the episodes, because they found the guy but not before the murder of the girl. So the victims are as tainted as the perp, but they're gonna be the ones with the nightmares. It also brings up the question of, since J.J. got out of North Mammon on a soccer scholarship, how'd she end up at the FBI? And, it's always an adventure talking to Garcia

I always love how Garcia answers her phone...it makes me want to use one of her lines to answer my phone...just to see the other person's reaction...:P

Just because JJ got into Pits on a soccer scholarship didn't mean that she had to take the pro soccer way...i guess her line of work interested her while she was there...

luvmorgan - November 3, 2006 08:35 AM (GMT)
I thought this was an excellent episode.....pretty scary for the victims. I did enjoy the way they got JJ more involved with the case. She did so well that Hotch asked her about becoming a profiler. IMO she would do well as one.

I think JJ said that she played soccer to get a scholarship to go to school. It wasn't like it was her passion or anything, so it was just a means to get an education.

J.J.Rocks - November 3, 2006 03:14 PM (GMT)
Yeah, she said a scholarship was her only way out!

I loved this episode especially beacuse I showed what that what JJ does is important!
I hope they do episodes like that with the other characters as well.

Mae - November 6, 2006 03:09 AM (GMT)
I loved this episode. The JJ backstory really rocked (my sister is an athlete-type too, though she's more into baseball. She played soccer for several years, though).

And, I absolutely love it with characters other than Hotch, Gideon and Reid get the opening/closing quotes. :P

J.J.Rocks - November 8, 2006 02:41 AM (GMT)
Yeah me too!!!
I think the story was pretty cool.
I love soccer, not that I play at school, but I like to play it whenever I have spare time,Which I haven't had in a long time!!
I love watching it too, when it was the world cup in June my entire family and I just sat in the living room watching it!! It was awsome~

nic - November 9, 2006 07:09 PM (GMT)
Wow what a great episode. I too agree it certainly wasn't as cut and dried as the other episodes to date. I think a big clue to for me was a Hotch and Gideon conversation saying something to the effect "I have a bad feeling on this one" and the other agreeing.

It was nice to see more of JJ's personal life being told. I thought her acting was really good too. I hadn't really noticed her all that much before so it was good to see her more out front with the other main characters.

beaglebabes - November 10, 2006 03:40 AM (GMT)
They are certainly added alot of depth to her character and I think it is great. :)

I thought it was great that JJ wasn't just kinda there in this episode. I think that they'll be more of her ever since Elle's departure. I also loved how in the end Hotch asked her if she wanted to become a profiler. I've often wondered the same thing... and I never really knew what she did exactly...

Reid's-fav-cheerleader - November 23, 2006 11:54 PM (GMT)
You can be a colege soccer player and stil have a career afterwards. I'm going to play college soccer and already have many offers but I'm still planning a career afterwards. J.J. essentially used her playing abilities to get out of a bigoted town and get herself to a college that could offer her a wide variety of options. There is a huge misconception when it comes to college athletes.

Special Agent Jentzer - November 10, 2007 07:13 PM (GMT)
Here is the "new look" episode which is being re-run tonight.

Lola Glaudini and "SSA Elle Greenaway" have left the team.

This was one of the most popular episodes from season two...seems we all loved the "smaller team"......and the great insight into Agent Jennifer "J.J." Jareau and her characters development

If you missed it the first go round, here is a great way to spend your Saturday night...lol

CRIMINAL MINDS

Air Date: Saturday, November 10, 2007
Time Slot: 9:00 PM-10:00 PM EST on CBS
Episode Title: (#207) "North Mammon" (Repeat)

THE ABDUCTION OF THREE COLLEGE WOMEN FROM A SMALL TOWN HAS THE BEHAVIORAL ANALYSIS UNIT PROFILING AN ENTIRE COMMUNITY, RATHER THAN AN INDIVIDUAL OFFENDER, ON A REBROADCAST OF "CRIMINAL MINDS," ON A SPECIAL NIGHT, SATURDAY, NOV. 10

"North Mammon" -- Gideon, Hotchner and J.J. must profile an entire town in order to locate three missing college women, on a rebroadcast of CRIMINAL MINDS, on a special night.

Matt Earl Beesley directed the episode from a script written by Andrew Wilder. (Originally broadcast 11/1/06)

When three college athletes disappear the night of a football pep rally, the BAU look to outsiders who didn't attend the rally for clues to the girls' abduction. J.J., originally from a small town, is instrumental in forming the profile and moving the case forward.

I love this show! - November 10, 2007 08:33 PM (GMT)
I almost forgot this was on tonight. I loved this episode! It was one of those weird scripts where the team didn't really do the solving of the case but what the unsub did to the girls and how they reacted was very interesting.

i really like this one

I like those qoutes by JJ

Linda06 - November 13, 2007 08:25 PM (GMT)
I loved this ep,it's one of my favourites forrather obvious reasons,we finally get to see more JJ and learn i bit more about her...I love Football too, that's the proper name for what you guys call Soccer! :P

ILoveReed1988 - November 13, 2007 08:26 PM (GMT)
yea jj does a lot in this episode which i love

Luna - November 13, 2007 09:36 PM (GMT)
I always thought it was weird that in the US you can get into college by playing sports or winning a beauty thing, since first of all, I think everyone has to get equal chances, also the ones that aren't so pretty or athletic and are not straigth A's students. But it is better then not being able to get into college at all ;)

I really liked this episode, I don't know what I would've done if I were those girls, I can't see myself kill my friend, but I can't see my friends kill me either and I seriously wouldn't know what we would do…hope I never have to find out ;)
I liked also to learn more about JJ, since I really think she's great (as I think of all of them, but still she's GREAT! B) )

ILoveReed1988 - November 13, 2007 09:46 PM (GMT)
yuea i dont think i could kill my friend..id rather die..!! jj is great..shes my 2nd fav character

Linda06 - November 13, 2007 09:54 PM (GMT)
She's my fave character...I do't think any of us really know how we would react unless we were put in that situation!

ILoveReed1988 - November 13, 2007 09:54 PM (GMT)
that is true linda..i dont really know what i would do..hope i never find out

ac5000 - November 14, 2007 01:29 AM (GMT)
i think we would all probably say something like...i would offer myself or something like that...but i would just want to survive at any cost...even if that sounds selfish...

ILoveReed1988 - November 14, 2007 03:26 AM (GMT)
its hard to think what people would do in that situation!

Linda06 - November 16, 2007 08:13 PM (GMT)
I think we would all like to believe that we would sacrifice ourselves to save others but the human instinct for survival is very strong so we could never know how we would react but i'd like to think i would react with homour and pride intact but truthfully who really knows and i hope i'm never in that situation to ever find out!

ac5000 - November 17, 2007 11:42 PM (GMT)
i just saw the DVD deleted scenes of North Mammon. Im thinking that they should've kept the scene with Polly's mom and JJ in there. It's just one of those things that we like to see after everything.

anyone else agree?

Yes i agree with you,it would have been nice if they left it in,it was such a nice and emotional scene!

huuudaaa - November 19, 2007 11:39 AM (GMT)
i agree. it was such a tragic episode with a horrible ending. It's hard to believe that there are ppl with a mind that messed up to actually get friends to kill friends. It's horrible.

I think, i'd rather be the dead one. If i had to kill a friend, even if i survived, it'll just haunt me forever. Even if i survived, i won't be living, would i?

I think that was the second most horrble episode after Legacy

CM Addict - January 1, 2008 06:55 PM (GMT)
^Horrible as in sad or horrible as in you didn't like it?

So wait, now I'm confused. JJ wasn't actually from North Mammon, was she? I have to admit I was doing something else while watching this episode, but I don't recall her ever saying that it WAS her hometown, just that the girls were a lot like she was at that age.

I liked the episode. It was sad, and it does make you think, what would you do in that position? None of us really know for sure (and hopefully will never have to find out), but I still enjoyed it.

I love this show! - January 1, 2008 07:41 PM (GMT)
I don't remember the name of the town JJ says is her hometown - I know it wasn't North Mammon but I know it was supposed to be close by.

It was a sad ending. I have no idea what I would have done. I want to say I wouldn't have killed my friends!! (hopefully that would be what I would have done.)

I really liked this episode....I think this is a popular one with just about everyone. Even though the team didn't really do much to solve the case I liked it because it left you with that moral dilema that makes you think.

I think she said she from from just West of there....or the East....or the South.....Well it was somewhere close

Yeah i loved this ep but it was so sad and horrible!

ac5000 - January 1, 2008 08:19 PM (GMT)
i think she said it was East Alleghny...im positive i spelled that wrong. But im pretty sure that was what they said.

Rach112 - January 1, 2008 08:30 PM (GMT)
Yep, just up the road from North Mammon...

Linda06 - January 1, 2008 08:34 PM (GMT)
Yep,i knew it was East or West or South something or other  :P

CM Addict - January 2, 2008 04:25 PM (GMT)
Haha, yeah, east or west or south or north or northeast or southwest....(just teasing ya, Linda ;)).

Thanks for the info, ac. ;)

Linda06 - January 2, 2008 05:44 PM (GMT)
Now that you mention it it could have been North North West <_< :P

ac5000 - January 2, 2008 09:28 PM (GMT)
Id hate to get lost somewhere with you two.. :P

Rach112 - January 2, 2008 11:20 PM (GMT)
Is North Mammon a real place? Anyone know?

CM Addict - January 3, 2008 05:06 PM (GMT)
Ha! I was just gonna bring that up! Nice segway, Rach. ;)

So last night I spent a few minutes with google and discovered two things. 1. East Allegheny is more commonly known as East Pittsburgh. So when people say she's from Pittsburgh, that's not actually inaccurate. 2. North Mammon is NOT an actual place. Near as I can tell, it's based on North Braddock, just north (or east or south or west ;)) of East Allgeheny/Pittsburgh.

I feel smart now. :D
