[Dr. Jacob Richards]

jacob had promised jenni that he would take her out to go shopping for a couple of hours. they needed to buy some things for the baby but also if jenni needed clothes then they could shop for maternity clothes as well. he knows that buying things for the baby and even clothes online is not the same as going to the store and actually buying them in person. buying from the store's website is just boring but going into the store is much much better. jacob knew they would have some fun no matter what they did. he woke up earlier than jenni and wanted to get into the shower first then make her breakfast if she was up for it. of course he needed to find out what she wanted before he made something she certainly does not want. getting out of the shower, he wrapped the towel around his waist then walked out of their bathroom and into their bedroom. in just one week they will be moving into their house. the painters needed to finish up a couple of rooms and everything would be all set for them. making his way to the bed, he saw his fiance fast asleep.

"jenni." he whispered as he sat on the edge of the bed. he put his arm on her as he leaned down to plant a kiss on her cheek. he knows she needs her sleep but the night before she did go to bed pretty early. plus he knows how much she wants to get out of the house for a couple of hours since she has been feeling much better in the recent weeks. "come on babe, i'll make you breakfast then we will go shopping for nate and if you need some more maternity clothes too."

jenni couldn't wait to go shopping, she was excited about it and as much as it sounded stupid, she hadn't been able to go out like that for a while. she just wished that she could have gone out a lot more. she had ordered a lot of the furniture for the house online so it would be delievered for when they moved into the house. but it had mostly been stuff the rooms that would get used the most. and even though she had an idea for nate's room, she still was unsure about the furniture. she knew that she wanted a white wooden crib with the rest of the furniture to match but all the ones she looked at seemed too girly to her. she was hoping that if she actually saw them she might change her mind about that.

whimpering when she heard her name, she curled up in a ball even more than she was. even if she went to sleep early, nate had been waking her up in the night from the kicking. trying to get him to calm down wasn't easy but normally it showed you what he was going to be like when he was born. slowly opening her eyes when he put his hand on her, she closed them again. "sleep, he's not kicking, it's a good time to sleep." she complained to him, pushing her head into the pillow, she knew that she needed to get up but she was enjoying the calm for once.

jacob understood jenni's need to sleep. but he also knows that she wants to get out of the apartment and out into that world that she only goes out into once in a blue moon due to her bedrest. jacob did not want to be mean but he was sticking to what addison told them, of course jacob was bending the rules from time to time like now. should he be taking her out? probably not but she has been feeling good recently so she deserves a day out to just go shopping. "oh okay. since you want to sleep then i'll just go make breakfast for myself then head out to the mall or something. it's no problem, you stay there i'll see you in a few hours." he said jokingly. he went to his dresser and his closet to pull out clothes for that day the headed into the living room where he got dress. would jenni get made at him for that? probably. he might get a smack or a hit. but he really wanted to start the day and everything.

they had a lot to do. well no actually but it would be a nice day, it was not suppose to rain which was actually pretty perfect even though they would be inside anyway but it does not matter. once finished getting dress he laid down on the couch and waited for jenni to get up out of bed and leave the bedroom because he knew she would do so.

jenni smiled when he first started to talk, snuggling into the bed because she thought that he was going to say she could relax for a bit longer. but when he carried on speaking, she looked up at him, rolling her eyes, she wanted to go out but it was a good thing when nate was kicking and she could finally sleep. grabbing a pillow she threw it at the door as he walked out of the room, carefully rolling onto her back, she looked down at her bump. she was just wearing a normal tank top which just managed to cover the top of her bump. she got too warm in the middle of the night now so she tried her hardest to wear something that was cool and she wouldn't wake up because she was too hot. it was bad enough being awake with nate never mind being awake because of other reasons.

pushing herself out of bed, thankful that she had gone in the shower last night. grabbing a dress and some underwear, she changed, the dress clinged to her bump rather than flowed over it. pulling her hair up into a bun while she let the shorter parts at the front fall down her face. walking into the livingroom, she pouted at him, still looking half asleep. "now he's awake." she complained, running her hand across her bump before she sat down on the arm chair, curling up on it with her hand resting on her bump. "and if we just sit here, i was actually kill you for making me get up."

jacob did not mean to be pushy or anything. but he really wants to take jenni out of the house and they will have fun to day. do some shopping for nate, and shopping for jenni herself, maybe the two can go out to lunch or something. watching jenni walk out of their bedroom, he smiled when he saw her outfit. she looked adorable and sexy as well. even though she was half asleep but it just did not matter. sitting up he walked over to her and knelt down. "he knows that mommy and daddy are going to be buying things for him and spoiling him." he said before placing a kiss on the top of jenni's bump. he really liked the dress she was wearing probably because it clinged to her bump which probably made it more noticeable but he did not care because jenni looks great.

"honey, its almost ten o'clock, you really wanted to be sleeping longer?" he asked. jacob felt waking her up before ten was good. if she was to sleep any longer, who knows when she would wake up. could you blame him for wanting her to get up out of bed and dressed for the day. "i'll make you some breakfast, anything you want. then we can go shopping for nate then some shopping for yourself and if you want we can then go out to lunch." he suggested, trying to make her happier.

jenni laughed and nodded at his words as she looked down at him, smiling and blushing slightly when he kissed her bump. she could feel nate starting to move around and come more active, she knew it would be a few more hours until he would calm down again. she didn't mind when she was awake but it had been keeping her up most of the night. she would normally wake jacob up but she had tried kicking him but she didn't get a reaction off him and she couldn't be bothered to try any harder. she was too tired by that point and she just wanted to be able to go to sleep, she was struggling to sleep on her left side like she had been told, she was used to sleep on her front but she hadn't been able to do that for what felt like years. "just wait until he's actually here and we spoil him, he won't calm down then." she explained to him, smiling as she looked into his eyes.

"true but he woke me up in the middle of the night." she explained to him, she knew that if she slept longer she wouldn't sleep tonight, since she's used to being on call, she doesn't need a lot of sleep but she hated being waken up. "toast and chocolate sauce." her craving weren't disappearing and seemed to be coming up with more weird things. running her hand across the top of her bump, she loved him so much and she just wanted to make sure that he was safe.

jacob did not understand why jenni blushes when he kisses her bump. she should be use to it and it is not like he is doing that in public. he is not bothered by it but just does not fully understand why it makes her blush. they know that nate is an active boy in the womb, waking jenni up at night along with keeping her up due to his kicking and everything else. but that is pregnancy. laughing, jenni was right. jacob did not want their son to be a spoiled brat where he gets everything he wants, but spoiling him once in a while is not a bad thing at all.

"you should have woken me up." he hated it when the nights when by and jenni was up because of nate and she just let him sleep soundly. she should wake him up so she is not alone at night, not that its a big deal but he is sure she is pretty bored when nate does not calm down. trying not to make a weird face, he got up and went into the kitchen. he took out a couple pieces of bread and put them into the toaster then went to get the chocolate sauce and the jelly. see for normal people they would have toast and jelly or jam but as for the pregnant women they have odd cravings like toast and chocolate, yuck.

"i tried to wake you up. i kicked you then all i got was a moan and then you rolled over away from me." she complained to him, she didn't like waking him up, mostly if he had work the next day but he didn't now. she had no idea how she was going to manage at work with all the time that she was going to have to be awake. she didn't think about it because she didn't notice that she was starting to sleep more and more and she wasn't going to put that down to the pregnancy because during your second trimester you were meant to have more energy and be able to go for long periods of time being awake while she slept her way through it because it made everything go much faster than it was. it had been hard for her, and she really wanted to go back to work. she missed her job like crazy and she didn't notice until now how much she would miss it.

when he walked into the kitchen, she walked into the bedroom and grabbed her make-up back before she started to put on some light natural make-up. she knew that jacob thought that her cravings were weird and she would after but right now she loved trying different foods together. putting her makeup bag back into the bedroom, she ran her hand across her bump, her belly button was starting to stick out and she was conscious about it, she didn't like it but it wasn't that noticeable even with the tight dress on. walking back into the living room, she could smell the toast. "is daddy making us food? yes he is." she said in a slight baby voice, it was going to be worse after she had had nate.

"i'm sorry babe." jacob had no idea that jenni tried to wake him up. he must have been super tired or something for him not to wake up to her kicking him and everything. if he felt jenni kicking and whatever else he would have woken up. work has been tiring him out lately and doing everything for jenni, of course he loves it all. his career and taking care of jenni, especially since she has been on bed rest but no matter what he would do so anyway. making the breakfast for himself and jenni, he grabbed two plates as the bread was toasting in the toaster oven. "what do you want to drink?" he called out, knowing jenni could hear him though he was not really sure where she was. she could be in the living room, the bedroom or even in the bathroom.

once the toaster timer went off, he removed the toast and placed them on the two plates. he put the jelly on his toast but did not touch jenni's so that she could do what she wants for it. placing the two on the table, he then went to get drinks for the two of them. "breakfast is ready babe." brining the two glasses to the table, he sat in his normal chair as he waited for jenni to join him.

jenni knew that he didn't know he had slept through but she understood him being tired, she missed being able to easily snuggle up to him at night time because of her bump. she loved being pregnant but she was sure that if she wasn't on bedrest she would love it more. maybe second time around would be different, she hoped that it would be different because she had no idea how she would be able to manage. she wouldn't mind if she had to be on maternity leave slightly earlier than normal but not get put on bed rest from the first few weeks of pregnancy, she just felt like she was useless when she had to stay in bed all day. she just felt like a beached whale, and she was sure that that feeling would get stronger as the months passed on.

"orange juice." she called back, rubbing her eyes but trying her hardest not to smudge her make-up because she wasn't in the mood to go back and do it all again from the start. when he called the breakfast, she pushed herself up off to couch and walked into the kitchen. sitting down next to jacob, she pressed a kiss against his cheek. "thank you." she whispered as she looked into his eyes, she could easily get lost in them.

jacob of course wants to be there for jenni and he is. but he wants to be there anytime she cannot sleep at night, if she needs a craving or something. sure since he is working and everything he is tired but not too tired for jenni. thinking about her being up at night alone, he hates it because then she has no one to talk to or anything, it is just her and nate. maybe that is not so bad but to have jacob up she would probably like even more because at least he can talk back to her unlike nate who just moves and kick. they day was going to be great. once they finish breakfast they could just relax for a little bit before heading out of the apartment.

"your very welcome." he smiled. looking into jenni's beautiful eyes, the eyes that he fell in love with. "anything for my two favorite people." he said smiling, placing his hand on jenni's bump. he has to take care of his family which includes making sure jenni has what she wants to she can feed not only herself but nate as well. "i left it so you could add as much sauce to the bread as you want." jacob did not want to do it then get yelled at or something because he put too much on or even too little, so he left it in jenni's hands to do it.

jenni stretched her legs out under the table, her joints all feeling stiff after being slept curled up for hours since she didn't stretch that much in the middle of the night. she hated it because if she stayed in one place or position for a long period of time she would just end up being able to not move. she knew that she loved being able to talk to nate but she liked being talked back so she could hold an actual convocation like she could with jacob and she couldn't with nate. she wanted to be able to hold their son in her arms, they had a lot of things to sort out but she still wanted him to be here now but be healthy which he wouldn't be if he was born now. when they went out, she had no idea how she was going to manage, she struggled to get around the house. she had no idea how she was going to manage when she was alone because in the apartment she didn't have to deal with the stairs unless they were going out.

feeling his hands on her bump, she giggled as she felt nate moving inside of her, kicking and doing flips in her stomach. nodding her head, she grabbed the chocolate sauce and put it onto the toast, before turning it into a sandwich. "thank you honey." she whispered, before she took a bite of the different sandwich from what she would normally have. "i was thinking we really need to order a crib and other furniture bits for nate." she explained, she had ordered toys and stuff but it was the main parts that they needed that she couldn't settle on. she hated that she couldn't make her mind up.

jacob has no idea what pregnancy is like, and of course he will never get to expierence it. but it does not matter becaquse he is happy being there for jenni every step of the way. he could not imagine not being there for her. going through it alone would probably kill her but thankfully she does not have to worry about that because she has jacob there for her like a father and fiance should be. it seemed like the pregnancy is going slow but maybe that is because they want to hold nate so badly. they have heard his heartbeat, seen him and they even named him. now they just want to hold him in their arms and be a happy family together. they just have to be patient because it is too early for nate to be born and they want to kepp him in there as long as possile so he is healthy when he is born.

"your welcome." he whispered, he loves jenni so much, maybe not her cravings but it did not matter. he chuckled a bit as she put the chocolate sauce on the bread. to him it's disgusting but for jenni maybe it is absolutely delisious. nodding his head, he agreed that they needed to order the crib and the rest of the furniture for the nursery. "we can do that today. i mean we know what we want the nursery to look like, right?" he said, taking a bit into his toast.

jenni smiled as she pushed her hair behind her ears, she started to eat her food. she just wanted to spend time with him because it didn't happen a lot. they didn't get to spend a lot of time together because he had to take over the work that she had as well as still having his own cases. she hated it because she had had patients for years and she wanted to be able to know that they were okay and she couldn't be in work to make sure that the patients that came in had her care. she was protective over her patients, she always had been, she was protective over her things and it was already obvious she was going to be protective over nate because her hand was always on her stomach at some point. she couldn't wait till he was in her arms but it would kill her whenever she had to leave him, she had no idea how she would manage on her first day back at work.

jenni nodded her head when he spoke, she knew what she wanted but everything that she looked at didn't feel right to her, maybe it was because she wasn't actually seeing it. nothing felt like what she wanted for the room, it was too girly or it didn't fit with what she had mind her mind. "yeah but nothing feels right." she explained to him, she knew that she was more than likely just being picky about what she wanted. but she wanted everything to be perfect for nate, she would for any child that they had, she wasn't going to change if they had a second child, she would be the same about everything having to be perfect.

it was hard for jacob not to have jenni in the hospital anymore. of course his work load was slightly heavier. the chief did find a replacement for jenni, that is until she returns from her maternity leave but it still is not the same and plus he does not like the girl that is covering for jenni. she does not do everything right so jacob most of the time is watching her back. he misses having jenni there and not just because they are together but when they are on a case together they are undefetable. once she returns he knows it will be hard for her to leave nate but he will be so happy to have her back under the roof of seattle grace hospital.

"maybe it's because we havent painted the nursery yet or bought any furniture. once we do that i'm sure things will feel right. you just need to decide what you would like to nursery to look like. at least we know the sex." it wasn ice, finding out that nate will be a boy, jacob would not like doing it neutral. then again if they are going to keep it for future babys maybe they should do it neutral but jacob actually doesn't know. "should we do it neutral for the future?" he askes or maybe they will just repaint but keep the furniture and buy new bedding.
