The gifted children were a rarity, but when they were born they were shunned by their communities and discriminated against for their entire lives. Forced onto the outskirts of society, they tried to make their ways in a world that hated them and their kind. Eventually, small groups of gifted began to form; usually between sixteen and mid-twenties, as this was the age old enough to make their own decisions and not too old to have had their will curbed by the harshness of society. These small groups eventually merged and became larger, and eventually one large group took a large step – and left society in search of a better home.
The humans never heard from them again, and were none the worse for it.
As they travelled, the gifted happened upon a gully leading through a vast mountain range. After following it for several days, they came upon a valley - seemingly untouched by the hand of men. But then resting upon a cliff by the sea, the Gifted came upon a beautiful city with golden roofs and white marble walls. As the entered the city, they discovered that it was, in fact, deserted, for reasons that could not be discerned.
Deciding to disregard this minor factor, the gifted advanced into the city and made it their home. A haven for those hated and feared by the humans.
