I've found a few more places to play chess at. Mainly for the people where the shockwave one doesn't work and don't really want to register at places.
http://www.nabiscoworld.com/games/game_lar...px?gameid=10038Flash based, free to play and no registering. Awkward view though. Create a private game and it'll all speak for itself.(Note: Yes, it won't take very long names.

http://www.chessanytime.com/playGuest.phpJava based, link goes straight to the "play as guest" page. Due to it being Java based, and verifying/signing a Java application costs money, you'll probably get something along the lines of this:

I can assure you, that there's nothing wrong with said chess application and that you can safely click "Run" if this comes up. When you do, the java application will load. There's also some instructions for Vista/IE7 users on that page that explains some special treatment on how to get this thing to work.
Hit "Connection" and it'll load a new window with a chessboard. Take note of your guestname, it's in the top left of the window. You need this to get challenged by whoever you're playing.

To challenge someone, hit "Challenge" on the right, then "Send a personal challenge". It's a bit of a pain, but look for the person you want to play(Guestsomething, this will be your opponent's guestnick, so ask him or her for it)
MAKE SURE YOU SET THE TIME CONTROL TO 20 OR 30 MINUTES.
I can't stress this one enough. Timed play is fun and all, but it's set for 5 minutes for each by default and if you take too long with your moves, you lose. So to be safe, 20 or 30 minutes it is.
Then hit challenge again and you're set.
When the challenge is sent, the person that is being challenged should see a "guestxxx challenges you", or something like it. Look for this guestnick in the list above it and hit "accept".

Have fun!
