QUOTE (Madman @ Jun 20 2008, 12:59 AM)
Wesseh and I just played, result was 2-0 to Wess.

First game was looking for good me until my Windows box restarted all of a sudden due to Windows updates lol. oh well.

Tho I post my agreeance of the score

Wess 2 - Madman 0

I will also state that I've offered to just replay the game that Madman forfitted-by-default..

And question,

Do we simply advance as we see fit or are there timeframes for moving into the next round ? :-)

.... quite the interesting set of circumstances i guess. Please do understand that I too am learning quite a bit by trying to organise this.

I think its fair to say that the next match can advance whenever possible though, so Wess yes you can go on and play LAFiN, since you advanced (it seems like the scoring is mutual even though you hit a rough spot or two.)

Other games currently on i will judge seperately as best as i can. I hope my calls on this event seem fair to all.

Melwil v Antjie: Try this place - http://www.cowplay.com/ . due to your connection related problem perhaps this will help. If my memory serves me correctly this site will keep track of each move on a server. The only draw back is its slower to play because its not live. Also you will have to hit refresh to see the opponents move. However, if either of you disconnect at least the game is still saved on the server. Best of luck. Let me know if anything else comes up. it seems from the bracket you guys might have another week so take it easy smile.gif

Cheff v Unkn0wngenius: Would Cheff and Antjie be so kind as to let me know of the whereabouts of Unknowngenius? Cheff contact me around monday if you still havent heard word of him plz.

Charlie_B v Shenron: Shenron please contact me around sunday if the situation doesnt change.

I hope this works out for everyone!

I've found a few more places to play chess at. Mainly for the people where the shockwave one doesn't work and don't really want to register at places.

http://www.nabiscoworld.com/games/game_lar...px?gameid=10038

Flash based, free to play and no registering. Awkward view though. Create a private game and it'll all speak for itself.(Note: Yes, it won't take very long names. tongue.gif)

and

http://www.chessanytime.com/playGuest.php

Java based, link goes straight to the "play as guest" page. Due to it being Java based, and verifying/signing a Java application costs money, you'll probably get something along the lines of this:

I can assure you, that there's nothing wrong with said chess application and that you can safely click "Run" if this comes up. When you do, the java application will load. There's also some instructions for Vista/IE7 users on that page that explains some special treatment on how to get this thing to work.

Hit "Connection" and it'll load a new window with a chessboard. Take note of your guestname, it's in the top left of the window. You need this to get challenged by whoever you're playing.

To challenge someone, hit "Challenge" on the right, then "Send a personal challenge". It's a bit of a pain, but look for the person you want to play(Guestsomething, this will be your opponent's guestnick, so ask him or her for it)

MAKE SURE YOU SET THE TIME CONTROL TO 20 OR 30 MINUTES.

I can't stress this one enough. Timed play is fun and all, but it's set for 5 minutes for each by default and if you take too long with your moves, you lose. So to be safe, 20 or 30 minutes it is.

Then hit challenge again and you're set.

When the challenge is sent, the person that is being challenged should see a "guestxxx challenges you", or something like it. Look for this guestnick in the list above it and hit "accept".

Have fun! tongue.gif

ohmy.gif

aye matey. This is what happened last time too, only afterwords i was able to find the people and pester them all into finishing.

I'm not certain that this tournament can/should be finished. However with the way things are now i feel a little more confident in trying a tournament of any kind. People are getting to know each other better you know? biggrin.gif

On the other hand i hope those who did play don't see it as their time has gone to waste. dry.gif

Thoughts anyone? smile.gif
