Any discussions or news related to anime & manga, discuss it here th_070_goodjob.gif

To get things started here`s some exciting news I discovered a couple of days ago.

A new FMA series is in the works !! love0030.gif !!
My guess is it will be following the manga story line (which is wicked news cuz the manga story line is fricken awesome) but even if it is a continuation of the tv-series I`d still be excited cuz that was great too!

I just hope they keep the same top-notch voice cast from the tv-series unless they can find a cast on par with them (which I doubt is possible).

I've heard of Bakuman. It's an awesome idea that isn't overdone.

The only manga I'm keeping up with is Claymore, I just it so much. Sadly I don't have much time and money for anime or manga anymore. T-T

I'm not into anime or manga like I used to be. Right now the only anime series I'm following is Naruto and Soul eater. Naruto I've been watching on and off. Crazy to think I started following it since five years ago! Haha. Soul Eater is really cool and stylish. It is perhaps the most stylized shonen anime, in terms of the character designs and the concept of their powers, that I have watched.
Not much depth, but they're fun to watch. I'm glad to see Soul Eater's animation didn't slack off after a whole season; still as fluid as the opening episode. Can't say the same thing about Naruto, but hundreds of episodes will do that to a series, lol.

Manga, I'm less into than anime. Right now I'm reading Hellsing and its spinoff, The Dawn. I'm almost at the end of Hellsing, but the series has not ended yet, so I'm waiting for the last 10-15 or so chapters to be published. The Dawn just started and is barely on chapter six. Great manga, Hellsing. A nice approach on the horror/supernatural theme, where it adds lots of good action and a touch of humor to loosen it up.

i discovered the anime Mushishi a few weeks ago and it is so good. it's about nature and legends but not in a fairytale way... it's very realistic with gorgeous sceneries of rural japan of the begining of the 20th century.
peaceful...

I think there's a live action movie of Mushishi
and some actress in it named...
Aoi Yu

I watched the first 2 episodes of Claymore and wasn't that impressed but a lot of people do say the series is supposed to be excellent up until the ending which is awful (apparently they follow the manga until the last few episodes where they make up their own ending since the manga is ?still ongoing)
It seemed like a ripoff of Berserk with a female protagonist and not nearly as compelling which is why I stopped after only 2 eps.

if that's true, then I HAVE TO go see it. kyahaha th_087_.gif

well based on the screen caps and the description, the anime seems interesting enough on it's own. thanks for the recommendation!

last manga i read was BECK vol.12. i'm really psyched that they are continuing with this series. hopefully, they'll continue with the anime as well.

and the last anime i saw was basilisk. really interesting anime. it can get pretty gory at times.

i'm afraid watching the movie. i tried to watch Death Note the Movie and it was creepy as hell! i tried to watch Nodame Cantabile The Drama and jeezz... creepy too!
i don't trust live action when it comes to manga.

i thought Beck was a male version of Nana. am i wrong? ashamed0006-1.gif

i like the name Basilik

what? Nodame Cantabile Jdrama with Ueno Juri freaking RULES!
One of the best comedic performances ever IMHO.

Beck anime definitely preceeded Nana and the mangas were both introduced in 2000. There is no way that Harold Sakuishi got the idea to do Beck after being inspired by Ai Yazawa.
Both have excellent storylines but are quite different. Other than being centered around guitar-driven rock, there is not much similarity between the 2 manga. Nana leans heavily towards shoujo romance while Beck concentrates a lot more on the trials and tribulations of learning to become a musician and gutting it out in the indie scene.

Basilisk also has a live-action movie called: Shinobi.

Finished up the Hellsing manga. The end was kind of predictable, but the manga as a whole was great.

On the anime side, I started watching Katekyoushi Hitman Reborn! I have no idea why I started watching a series with an episode count that already broke 100, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit now. I'm barely on the 20s, lol.
The first couple episodes, I would say, are pretty damn funny. Nice slice of life anime mixed in with random, wtf, and stupid. But now that I've reached episode 20+, I gotta say its turning into a really good shonen anime. The fights are good, and its getting kind of supernatural in theme, too.
Besides that, I really like the art style.

Before I left for Japan the last anime I watched was Kure-nai.

It is easily one of the best anime I have ever watched.
The character development, animation and storyline is sophisticated and almost without peer.
If you want non-stop action, then this may not interest you (although there is some vicious no-holds barred femme vs femme MMA action going on wink.gif )
The main protagonist is a 16 yr HS student named Shinkuro Kurenai who's parents were killed in a very traumatic way while he was still at a young age. He lives alone in a dilapidated apartment and makes ends meet by taking on contracts to settle disputes. This often means violence, broken bones and bloodshed. He may look like a pushover but....
One day, he is asked by his employer to protect a spoiled 7 yo brat who was kidnapped/rescued from her mysterious, depraved and ridiculously wealthy family.
The episodes start off very slice-of-life with comedic elements deriving from the interaction between Shinkuro and Murasaki. Murasaki grew up isolated from the real world, raised essentially like a princess so its hilarious how she responds to dealing with regular people and day-to-day life.
The side characters are also extremely interesting and dynamic.
The only criticism I have is for the OP & ED. They suck! But the soundtrack during the actual show is nothing short of brilliant.

10/10 easily.
Watch this anime if you like slice-of-life comedy, intelligent plot/dialogue and occasional badass kung-fu fighting. laugh.gif
