Title: last movie u've seen...

enasccis - December 22, 2007 09:34 PM (GMT)
a favorite topic in almost every forums... so might as well start one here also.. heh

ah the last movie i've seen is

Exit NO.6

its a taiwanese/chinese movie about a group of young adults trying to make something out of their lives in the midst of society and parental control.. the story's a bit comedic and wanna be edgy here and there but the storyline seems to have gotten lost half way.. the characters are cute and non-serious but there were too many question mark scenes that leaves u wondering why didnt they put it in to an ending that cud have been much better and fitting for the beginning theme of the movie... so i cant recommend this movie unless u have time to kill or doesnt care about storyline... but the soundtrack was cool though..

Hmm.. the last movie I saw in a theatre was Crows Zero.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lLpQuo8fh4
It's a manga adaptation directed by the crazy Takashi Miike (Audition, Ichi the Killer) starring Oguri Shun of Hana Yori Dango fame and Takayuki Yamada (H2, Sekai no Chuushin.. etc).
It's probably Miike's most mainstream film ever and lacks the chilling horror/schlock and freneticism of previous works.
The commercials on TV made it look badass so I decided to check it out on opening night. The movie itself was slightly better than mediocre. Nice fight scenes but an uncompelling storyline.
The highlight for me has to be Kuroki Meisa. I didn't know she was going to be in this movie so it was a pleasant surprise as she is my favorite actress next to Aoi Yuu.
I recommend downloading to watch this movie but save your $$ b/c it's not worth buying if it comes out on DVD... unless you find a pirated copy for $4... then it's a STEAL! hahaha.

Last movie i saw back home in Canada was probably Transformers... I think. Haven't been going to watch movies lately with the advent of BitTorrents. ;)

Last movie I watched on my computer is Summer Time Machine Blues.
Thanks to ena!!!!!!
P.S. this movie is AWESOME. Possibly the best and definitely the most hilarious film about time travel ever!!

But over the last week, I've been focussed on watching the HBO TV show Dexter (seasons 1 and 2). It's about a forensics analyst (specifically a blood splatter analyst) who is a sociopath who only kills other serial killers. Sadisticly addictive with top notch dark humor. I hated the main character at first but now I'm hoping he doesn't get caught. WATCH THIS TV SERIES. highly recommended.

enasccis - December 24, 2007 03:01 AM (GMT)
saw "i am legend" last night... yes, they already got the dvd screener availabile for download... the movie was cool in the first half but the second half was not compelling and it topped off with an ending that makes u want to throw ur popcorn at the screen if u actually paid 10.00 to watch it in theaters... ok it wasnt that good of an ending and maybe i was expecting too much from this movie but it just didnt feel satisfying when the credit started to roll... the director, francis lawrence, is beginning to have a track record of bad ending movies that started with "constantine" in 2004.. i would only recommend this movie just to see whats the hype is all about but be warned about the ending...

doubledown11 - December 24, 2007 06:00 AM (GMT)
haha. So far we're batting 3 for 3 on movies we feel lukewarm about or can't recommend on any level.

Anyone watch a good movie lately?
All About Lily Chou-Chou was the last great movie I saw. One of my favorite films ever.
Another movie I recommend is Kisarazu Cat's Eye: World series.
But watch the TV series first before the movie otherwise it will be a huge spoiler.

Don't want to turn this into a movie recommendation thread since that wasn't ena's initial intention, but someone post a "last movie" with a positive review. :)

phoenie_x - December 25, 2007 09:48 PM (GMT)
i saw "i am legend" just a while ago.. downloaded the dvd screener for it.. it was good.. but the story was actually like "28 day later"..damn..

the last jap movie i saw was.. "Kiiro Namida" (yellow tears).. it's also good.. ^.^..

chattomato - December 26, 2007 02:19 PM (GMT)
i watched 'alvin and the chipmunks' a couple of weeks ago. the movie's cute and funny, with lots of 'awww' touching moments. that 'my name is earl' guy is also in the movie (human not chipmunk though haha). i managed to have quite a few laughs but frankly, it's more suitable for kids haha.

anyway, this movie wasnt the last movie that i've watched (oops haha) but i wanna mention it cuz of the uncanny resemblance of the chipmunks trio to chatmonchy!

Oh my freaking god!

That is hilarious. Come to think of it Ecchan's voice is chipmunk-esque. Too bad Simon's left-handed otherwise the pic would have looked identical. Nice find.

phoenie_x - December 26, 2007 06:05 PM (GMT)
wahaha!! really funny! nice one! (^.^)

enasccis - December 26, 2007 07:14 PM (GMT)
lol... that was funny!! someone shud mod the picture and call them "chipmunchy" heh..

enasccis - January 8, 2008 12:51 AM (GMT)
Nightmare Detective...

probably one of the creepiest movie i've seen in a while.. its like a poetic death ride to hell and back.. the movie stars ryuhei matsuda and hitomi and directed by shinya tsukamoto of "testsuo" fame... if ure in need of some scary, psychological trip... u might want to check out this movie...

Sono toki wa kare ni yoroshiku
intl title: "SAY HELLO FOR ME"

a film that was based on a novel written by the same author that wrote "be with you" and "heavenly forest"... starring masami nagasawa, takayuki yamada, and takashi tsukamoto... i wont get into much of the storyline since everyone knows what type of movie it is... but i liked the story and its always refreshing to see masami on screen...

-- instead of cutting up the movies like i did with my previous upps of movies.. i wanted to preserve the movie file as it was first encoded as two 700 mb files... so just put the files of cd 1 part 1 and 2 in the same folder and unrar it to get part 1 of the movie... and ditto on cd 2..

Hey why is this topic inactive? Its's a good one.

The last movie i've watched is Street Kings. It's got Keanu Reeves and Forest Whitaker in it. It's an alright cop action flick, but isn't anything special. I guess the good cast makes it more likeable that it really is.

Roxy36 - April 28, 2008 12:14 AM (GMT)
One Missed Call..

Let me put it this way.. this is one missed call you won't miss.. nahh, well, it wasn't too bad.. it was alright..

but, i used to have a crush on shannon sossamon sooo...

Shannyn Sossamon is one DIME honeydip.
I first fell in love after the Gap commercial where she's one of 3 DJ's.

She is the only reason I watched 40 days and 40 nights, A Knight's Tale and the Rules of Attraction. Waitaminute, Jessica Biel was another good reason I watched the Rules of Attraction.

Shannyn has a sort of exotic yet tomboy nextdoor look that I find hella attractive.

slimslam - April 28, 2008 04:53 PM (GMT)
I've seen the japanese original One Missed Call directed by Takashi Miike and really enjoyed it. But as usual the american remake sucks in comparison.

A friend is nudging me to watch the whole series of X-Files o_o I haven't given in yet, but he's damn persistent, saying that i don't know what i'm missing out on. Have any of you guys watched it in it's entirety?

youngelectricpop - April 28, 2008 11:33 PM (GMT)
Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay

Ah, such hilarity. Didn't think it was as good as the first one though, I must say.

hahaha.. i like the way you put it.. "one DIME honeydip" kyehe

same here .. she's the only reason why i watched 40 days and 40 nights, A Knight's Tale, and now, One Missed Call.. man, beauty is a killer.. although, A Knight's Tale was pretty good and 40days40nights had it's moments ..

yep, being born in hawaii and growing up there definitely adds to her exotic charm.. hmm, "tomboy nextdoor look" ... i think you just described ecchan! B)

edit: @young's post.. i hella wanna watch that movie!! it's true though.. firsts are always classic..

Watched the Forbidden Kingdom last night. Loved it! Kiddy as it is, the fight scenes are just awesome, especially the one between J&J. And the film looks beautiful.

modnar - May 2, 2008 10:19 AM (GMT)
Went to see Iron Man :D
Full of laughs +explosions and R.Downey jr. was great as Tony Stark.

Roxy36 - May 2, 2008 06:36 PM (GMT)
forbidden kingdom & iron man are both on my "to watch" list.. glad to hear that it's getting some good reviews..

anyway, lat movie i saw..

"Paris Je T'aime"

it's a pretty cool French flick.. a lot of short stories all compiled into one movie and then later on connecting in a way.. drama, action, romance, comedy, etc... after watching it, it really made me wanna visit Paris.. hehe

Btw, it is translated as "Paris, I Love You".. er something like that.. Eh, where's Samart??

chattomato - May 3, 2008 05:30 AM (GMT)
^ yeah i really like paris, je t'aime too. its a really sweet movie x) great cinematography, narrative, cast and soundtrack. which is your fav story? i like the one with oscar wilde, the one with natalie portman, and also the mime-artist story. i recommend u to watch amelie, 2 days in paris and the darjeeling limited, if u havent.

im currently listening to the ost, feist's la meme histoire! (:

okay, back to the topic.. last movie i've seen was american beauty, during class.

Roxy36 - May 3, 2008 05:47 AM (GMT)
^ah, right on! i agree.. it really is a unique movie x) haha, hmm.. some of my favorites... well i really liked the one with natalie portman as well (very..artsy in terms of the narration and that speed motion scene), and that mime one was really funny! i also liked wes cravens one with "frodo" (kinda "Sin City"-esque with a bit of humour), and the one with that tahitian guy who asked that girl to go out for some coffee.. that one actually hit me deep B) <--hiding my tears behind them shades.. haha

the soundtrack is awesome! i need to get it..

what was the oscar wilde one again?

btw, thanks a lot for the recommendations! i was actually planning on watching amelie for quite some time.. hehe. i'll keep an eye out for those other two though.. hmm, have you watched "The Diving Bell & the Butterfly"? that's also a really great movie.. i'd recommend it.

youngelectricpop - May 3, 2008 06:31 AM (GMT)
Iron Man

So kickass! Be sure to stay after the credits if you go see it!

doubledown11 - May 3, 2008 09:15 AM (GMT)
Yeah! i saw Iron Man tonight too.
But NF ain't black!!! lol

Reminds me of how they had Ving Rhames play the Kingpin in Daredevil. <--- WORST. Movie. Ever.

But Iron Man was great. Probably my fave comic book based movie by Marvel or DC. So many great punchlines by Robert Downey Jr. The "pet robot" at the Stark mansion was hilarious.
And the "Youtube moment" with the thrusters. --> LMAO!

hope I didn't give away too much. my scene descriptions are intentionally cryptic but obvious to those who have seen the movie already.

the oscar wilde story is about the couple arguing at oscar wilde's grave. i think it was wes craven who wrote and directed that story, even though he's synonymous with the horror genre haha.

yeah i've heard of the diving bell and the butterfly but i've yet to watch it. i heard its quite a touching and sad movie, definitely not like tobiuo no butterfly haha.

Yeah, haha. But apparently NF in Ultimate universe is black. It'll be interesting either way. A Cap movie is supposedly in the works too; and we got the Hulk coming in short time.

Anyway the movie was great. Robert Downey Jr. was brilliant. His crazy hologram computer thing was awesome.

i don't have the whole Donnie Darko soundtrack but i have two songs from the movie:

Gary Jules - Mad World
http://www.mediafire.com/?b0spntnszxi

Joy Division- Love will tear us apart ( at the end when donnie climbs some stairs with the girl, i think)
http://www.mediafire.com/?ndbkgm0xiy5

one of my favorite movie.
American Beauty is one of my favourite movie too.
I love movies with tortured/depressed guys in it.

It is funny how everybody loves Paris, je t'aime! Here in France i read so much bad critics about the movie when it came out that i decided not to watch it.
But if everybody here says it's good, maybe i should give it a chance.
Parisian people are so bored with everything. So am i??

I would like to watch Darjeeling Limited so much! I have to wait 'till next month...
Has anybody seen The Royal Tennenbaum By Wes Andersen too? i recommend it. funny and poetic movie. very good.
(and there are depressed people in it)

EDIT: I rewatched the movie yesterday night and made a little research in my computer. I found 3 other songs from the movie i already have...

thanks a lot for the songs, tomachan! appreciate it. and i'll let you know when i get my hands on the donnie darko ost, although i see that substance already uploaded a few.. hehe

woa, i didn't know that wes craven directed that one.. i thought he directed the vampire one.. i guess he did both? haha anyway, that was a good one too..

yea, the diving bell and the butterfly is, for the most part, a dramatic and touching story, but it does manage to sneak in some humour from time to time..

substance, i think i saw some of it but i didn't watch the whole thing.. i should probably get around to finish it.. haha

__________

btw, i really have to watch iron man now the way you guys up there are talking about it! xD Incredible Hulk.. i seriously can't wait for this one.. the action looks a lot better and even the Hulk looks more believable.. hopefully, it'll be a "smash" at the box office (i made a funny).. btw, i think ryan gosling as bruce banner is a lot much better than eric bana.. don't get me wrong, bana is a good actor.. but i just didn't see him as Bruce Banner..

borgy03 - May 4, 2008 07:08 AM (GMT)
The last movie i've seen is Jumper..I wish i have jumper ability so i can jump to japan and suprise ecchan! ahaha..
can't wait to see Iron Man..

slimslam - May 5, 2008 09:19 AM (GMT)
I want to see Iron Man, but I'm in Russia right now and here all movies released in cinemas are dubbed. And the dubs are usually horrible ugh... So i guess i'll wait for the dvd or some other chance to see it in good quality and in english.

and yeah the royal tenenbaums is such a quirky film with so many offbeat characters. but i watched it pretty long ago so i've forgotten parts of it. now im itching to rewatch it. rushmore, also by wes anderson, is another movie on my gotta-watch list!

Substance - May 7, 2008 01:46 PM (GMT)
i didn't know rushmore... i'll watch it.

Darjeeling Limited

now i remember! once i read the descripition of the movie, i just realized that this was on my "to watch" list for the longest time.. just forgot the title of it... haha

anyway, great movie! right away, you can really sense the discrete personalities between the characters and you can really get a feel inside of their shoes.. the humor in this film was pretty direct but also i think that a lot of people can relate to some of the situations in there which added to the hilarity of it..

the color schemes and scene presentation were awesome.. a lot of vibrant and complimenting colors (which kinda reminded me of the background color schemes in "Survive Style 5+").. also, the soundtrack was really nice! mostly acoustic driven folk/psychodelic/indie tunes.. it complimented the scenes very well.. x)

as for the story, i thought it was a good plot and the transition from start to finish was put together nicely.. good message in reference to the different bonds and relationships in life.. and it's always refreshing to be introduced to different culture..

i'll be sure to check out more stuff by Wes Anderson..

Peace@

Prince Caspian

It was good. Much darker than the first one, and much more epic than the book apparently, as my friend told me. The Regina Spektor song that played at the end was perfect.

yup..the darjeeling limited was pretty specticular..i mean the senes were really put together nicely for the story...the concept was superb..had a laugh all through out the whole movie...and the cinematograpy was pinpoint awesome...great movie

Be Kind Rewind
it stars jack black and mos def...the movie was good especially when they're "Swedening" each movie hehe...
(gotta watch those sweded movies..hehe).. :P

youngelectricpop - June 12, 2008 06:19 AM (GMT)
Be Kind Rewind was a good movie. It definitely had it moments.

I just watched Sukiyaki Western Django. Really hard to understand the dialogue because their accents were so thick, but still pretty enjoyable. Fast-paced and very stylistic as expected of Miike on these types of films.

I can't seem to find the Honey and Clover movie anywhere.. I've seen both anime series and the live action too.. always makes me cry at the end haha.

Last movie I watched was the Sex and the City Movie! I love Carrie and Samantha and Miranda and Charlotte.

Darjeeling Ltd is a great movie! It's visually stunning (so is Survive Style 5+). I had such a warm and fuzzy feeling after watching that movie. You should definitely check out Hotel Chevalier, which is the short film by Wes Anderson which precedes The Darjeeling Ltd. It stars Jason Schwartzman and Natalie Portman.
