Rules
1)Have fun! Thats the point of the RP and if your not having fun then let us lnow why and I'll see what I can do. Thats what I'm here for
2)If you must swear dont put s**t, thats useless and stupid. If your gonna swear, swear theres no point of putting s**t. We know what it means. So just swear but remember please do not swear too often.
3)Use your head, dont suddenly appear in Diagon Alley after a Herbology lesson. Diagon Alley is full days journey by train and plus unless you have a viable reason for going there you'll be in trouble.
4)Lessons:
I)Teachers must post a lesson and let it run for up to a minimum of four pages
II)Students: You do not have to post in all lessons. If you are a fifth year or below you don't have to post in all the subjects you're in likewise if you are above fifth year.
I suggest you focus on posting in one lesson at a time and when you've finished a lesson you can either wait until the next lesson, or post in another leseson. It;s only a suggestion. If you want to post in all your subjects then feel free.
III) The teachers will not post EVERY lesson. Think about it, if you did, thats all youd post in. I like to think that there are other lessons in between each other lessons, which havent had a topic made for them.
5)There is no WAY, we will let you be an animagus,. End of.
6)Remember, this site is rated 12A/PG-13 so keep it to that.
7)Exchange Students
Exchange Students will be allowed very occaisonally, if there is already someone from a country and someone else wants to be an exchange student from the same country then you;ll have to pick another one.
Also, exchange students will only be picked very infrequently, for example one in every twenty new students, otherwise the school would be flooded with exchange students.
Oh yes, and the reason as to why you have moved to Hogwarts must be a good enough reason.
8) Mary/Gary Stus
Lumos Dissendium describe Mary/Gary Stus as
'a character who is the author in disguise. Normally a Gary Stu/Mary Sue is the hero of the story, all the character fall in love with him/her, she is outrageously fabulous and beautiful and powerful. Mary Sue stories are basically elaborate fantasies wherein the author gets to pretend that s/he is magical'
Gary Stu
Life is bad for Gary Stus, their parents hate them/abandoned them and now they cut themselves all day.
They hate everything. And I mean everything and everyone they come into contact with. They wear black and have black hair, and usually go into Slytherin (in RPG's that accept them!). They cut a lot and I mean... a lot... oh and they like knives....
So in other words, this is a no go area. Be creative in your character, for more information, see my Roleplaying guide in the help forum.'
Just to let you know, Gary Stus and Mary Sues can be both male or female.
9) This is mainly for the students, Your family all dying tragically is not allowed. I don't mind a few dying as there is a war on. But the reason for dying must be good and it must affect your characters story.
10)The set size for avatars is 150x150. There is no set size for avatar's but If I think it's too big you will be informed.
11) On another avatar/sig related note. All sigs and avatars must have some connection with your actual character. Therefore I dont want to be seeing any Manchester United avatars or The Simpsons Signatures
12)PLOTS, If you want your character to have part in the plot or you have an idea for a plot involving your characters and others then pm me. The Likleyhood is I will agree to it as long as it is fairly decent. We may have to make changes as well for the plot to work.
Regarding Applications.
1)A application must be fully filled out before you will be accepted.
2)An application must contain correct punctuation and grammar. We accept that not everyone has perfect spelling but we assume that you will at least spell check your application.
3)All applications must include detailed answers, otherwise there is little chance you will be accepted.
4)All applications must have a first and second name. Applications with neither of these things will be rejected.
5)We reserve the right to reject any application which we feel is not up to par.
6)You may choose to have a celebrity as your avatar though this is not fully required.
7) Canon character's will be "released" in that if they are needed in the plot then we will ask for someone to play them. Check the canon character thread in Character sign up to see what character's are available.
Other Points
1. I don't want any racists, or discriminating abuse on this site as far as I'm concerned that is an instant dismissal! IC (Thats In Character for the miniute few that may not know) is a little more ok but not in extremes. OC I don't want to be reading anything of the sort.
2. OOC posting in IC topics has been a real problem in other RP's Please keep all OOC discussions to the OOC board or you'll be getting a verbal warning either by post or PM and then the warn system kicks in.
4. Here, the Admin is THE MAN (Thinking school of rock here) if we say something thats the way it is no questions asked.
5. There is no limit to the amount of characters you can have. BUT! You must make sure that all of them are active. We define an active character as one that posts at least twice a week. Inactive characters will be deleted
6. Posts must be at least a paragraph long. And when we say a paragraph we mean six to 8 sentences, with or without speech.
7.No one liners. Nuff said.
8.Proper posting is encouraged. We RP in the past tense third person. So John walked slowly over to the bed instead of I walk slolwly over to the bed
9.We do NOT allow half breeds of creatures including
-Half werewolf
-Half Vampire
-Half mystic angel of Death
10. NO! Voldemort does not have a wife!
NO! Voldemort does not have a daughter!
And yes, I've had both types of characters apply before.
11.If you expect a topic to turn slightly more adult, i.e. more than a 15 then please put a notice in the topic description or pm a mod who will do it for you.
12. No surnames of characters are allowed if your character is not a canon character. So no John Weasley. Please use orignal names. First names however are allowed in moderation. Second names are allowed if the character is a relative of a canon character. Relative characters may or may not be accepted, depending on the circumstances and what is going on in the RP.
13.We are accepting all years at the moment. However once a particular year is fairly full we shall close off applications to that year.
14. Teachers do not do sign ups for your lessons. If you do it implys that when someone signs up they have a obligation to post to that lesson. Instead, post a lesson and whoever falls into the catergory of that lesson (1-3 years for example) may post to it.
15.Please make sure you register with a first and last name. If you want to be a teacher, you may register with a Professor in front of your name but it is not required.
16.You may only have one middle name in your user. You may though have another middle name but omit it from the username. For example a character may be called. John Graham Simon Pritchard. But the username would have to be either Jonn Graham Pritchard or John Simon Pritchard.
17.These rules are subject to change at the Admins due discretion.
I know it may seem like a lot of rules but it really is not and you shouldn't have a problem with the rules. They are generally easy to abide.
