The General Information
Name: Kaiden Throm
Age: 17
Date of Birth: September 1st, 1982
Gender: Male
BloodLine: Pureblood
Year: 6th (he's only 17 because of the early birthday)

Personalities and Politics
Likes: Fire, helping others, hard work, blacksmithing (a hobby he's picked up), privacy, learning
Dislikes: Swimming, flattery, war, interruptions, the New Order,
General Personality: Kaiden is an odd boy. He is humble and modest to most, but otherwise quiet and calm, preferring to be left to his own business and leaving others to theirs. Overall, he's content with his position in life, and has few ambitions. To many others, he is considered mysterious, but he refuses to give up his secrets. Unfortunately remaining hidden cuts off any chance he has for a social life, though he doesn't really mind.
Annoying Habits: Ducks his head when he's nervous.
Skills: Anything that requires manual work, Potions and wandwork (doesn't make them any more), Arithmancy
Weaknesses: Is sometimes too kind; is determined to protect his friends, often to his detriment; Astronomy

History
Place of Birth: London, England
Mother: Julianna Throm
Father:Keith Throm
Siblings: Janet Throm, Riley Everett (married)

Early Child hood (0-11 years): Childhood was not a pleasant experience. The youngest of three and the only son of Julianna and Keith Throm, his life should have been extraordinary. The Throm family was an old, pureblood family, with old-fashioned ideals, like bearing a male heir to inherit. So Kaiden's entrance into the world was supposed to be a great occasion for the Throm family.

Things didn't work out. Kaiden's two older sisters, Janet and Riley, were jealous of the attention that was paid to him, even though they were 7 and 10 years his senior. But his sisters were not the problem. Kaiden was.

Early on, he was taught that the Dark Lord's ideals, even though he was gone, were the right thing. Pure blood was the most important thing, and that meant continuing the Throm line with male heirs.

Kaiden, even as a child, questioned those beliefs, and as a result was was pushed even further into the dark world. But he rejected it and his family gave up. At this point it was too late to have another child, so the Throm parents just hoped that, once in Hogwarts, he'd turn around. After all, no one could go against the Dark Lord once they were in Slytherin, and all Throms were in Slytherin.

Teenage years (11-17): This is where things went wrong. Kaiden was not sorted into Slytherin. Being from the large, dark family, he was often shunned by the students in his house, who often wondered why he was so different from the rest of his family

But those people were kinder than Kaiden's parents. Upon returning home for winter holidays, he was quickly disowned, among other things. On his own, he made his way to Diagon Alley and found a kind soul in the bartender at the Leaky Cauldron, Tom.

Tom, though, was not free with his money. Kaiden began working there, in back most of the time, doing simple things for board and food, because he no longer had access to the Throm account at Gringott's.

When he returned to Hogwarts, things didn't improve. He had to dodge Slytherins, many of whom were intent on beating him up for abandoing their way, and no one in the other three houses were willing to help. Thankfully Kaiden turned out to be a relatively smart boy, though he never spoke up in class, and his best class, Potions, was no good either, for the professor disliked him just like the rest of the school.

For three years, things went on like this. Then she came along.

It was just innocent curiosty that brought them together at first. She wanted to know why he was so distant, so quiet. He (though he didn't want to admit it) found her odd ways quite interesting. Things evolved, life changed, and Kaiden was no longer a quiet kid. He had turned into a content teenager in love.

She occupied much of his attention over fourth year. Normally no one dated seriously in that time, but they did, though it wasn't obvious. Being from different houses made it hard, but worth it all the same.

Then she disappeared. After the summer spent working at the Leaky Cauldron (where he was finally learning to tend bar), he returned to Hogwarts to find her gone.

The best word to describe him for the next three months would have to be broken-hearted. Unreal might be another. Uncaring and distant are another pair.

It took until December for Kaiden to get out of the depressive state he was stuck in. The only reason he came out was because his Head of house finally confronted him with his marks in all subjects. it was just P and D, one after another, which were in high contrast to the As, Es, and Os in his previous years.

The work was enough to snap him out of it. He brought his work up to standard, but he remained rather distant. Few wanted to approach him, and no one wanted to be associated with him. He was rarely in his dormitory, as a mixture of insomnia and hard work had become yet another of his tendancies.

Then came the New Order. Things changed so drastically. Suddenly, no magic, and students were forced to breed, as they called it. Things were going to get a lot worse before they got better, that was for sure...

((It's a little long... sorry... and this was from another site, where Kaiden was a Slytherin, by the way))

Sunday morning was nice, for once. It seemed that half the school was asleep... at least, the half Kaiden cared about. No one was up and about, trying to torment him yet again, which meant that he could get some work done. The library was known to be one of his haunts, so he decided to stay away from there for now. Besides, he was already pushing his luck with the librarian after the last time he had been there.

But where to go? Outside wasn't an option; he abhorred the sun. A classroom, then, and one that a teacher wouldn't mind being used. Not Transfiguration... not Potions... definitely not Defense Against the Dark Arts... Arithmancy. Yes, that would work. That worked perfectly, in more ways than one. He had to do Arithmancy homework, and the large blackboards would allow him to spread out the calculations. And, best of all, few knew of his love or Arithmancy, so they'd probably never think to check there.

His pace a bit more brisk than usual, and with his bag full of books slung over a shoulder, Kaiden climbed the stone stairs to the fifth floor and the Arithmancy classroom. That was an unfortunate byproduct of having a common room in the dungeons, Kaiden mused, you always had to climb to go anywhere. The Gryffindors and Ravenclaws had it easy... except when they had to climb back up there to go to sleep. Kaiden wouldn't mind that, because he rarely slept in the dormitories anymore.

When Kaiden reached the Arithmancy classroom, still wondering at the lack of students, he hesitated for some reason. What if there was a club or something going on inside? Well, he could always duck out again and go to the Ancient Runes class instead. Yes, that's what he'd do.

Kaiden pushed the door open and, for some reason, wasn't surprised to see a girl sitting in the window. Time to go, leave before she noticed him... of course, the creaking of the door ought to have notified her of his presence...
