Bel shuts the heavy stone door behind him as he sags to the ground. it had taken 3 days to arrive at the Library of Ancients, but it was worth it. Looking around, Bel saw rows upon rows of books. They were a beautiful sight for him.

Somewhere, stored within these walls, were ARMS of a lost generation, ones that he planned on reintroducing to the outside world.

He ran to one of the desks and began flipping through the books, comparing it to a small diary held in his sash arm.

Chris found himself walking into what appeared to be a very old tower, apparently recently discovered in the desert. The map he got from the local town made it very easy to locate, allowing him to make the treck in as little as 2 days on camel. It had been throughly investigated already by the research teams, which were now taking a break from research and closed off the area from the general public. However Chris's grandmother supplies the research team with unique ARMs for study, and as such gained special privliges to help 'investigate'. Pretty much all it meant was that grandma's store can take whatever ARMs they found as long as it wasn't too ancient.

And that's the reason that Chris was allowed through, being an employee of his grandmother's store gave him the same privliges. He walked the narrow corridor leading to the main hall where he hoped to find clues to the old ARMs. Each step eerily echoed in the large room he was now entering. The team had made a clean sweep of the place in their initial investigation, however Chris knew that old places like this had secret passages. Whether the team discovered these already or not, Chris didn't know. But it was something Chris was willing to find out. "After all, I'm already in the neighborhood."

The footsteps echoed through out the entire tower. Bel looked up.

"no [expletive] [expletive] [expetive] way. I am so [expletive] sick of this [expletive] [expletive]!"

Bel quickly took a last look around, then the diary notebook went back into his chest pocket. The scarf, which had folded under him and let him sit on a bend like a chair, suddenly uncoiled, shooting Bel up towards the roof. Because he was in the tower proper, he could easily find from where the sound came. The scarf wrapped itself around a support bar, and Bel swung there for a second, listening for the sound. hearing it, he goes shooting off in the direction of the hall Chris is in.

Far away, Chris can hear a slight sound: It sounds like: [expletiveeeeeeeeeeeeeeee]

Chris stood still as he heard some sort of scuffling far into the distance. He was sure the research crew shut down the building, so the only thing moving around would be desert critters. He shook his head with a smile on his lips, then continued walking. Apparently he was a bit parinoid in a creepy tower like this, afraid that ghosts will pop up if he wasn't careful.

However his fear was justified when he heard the sound coming from a distance, and held his left hand close to his chest warily. He hoped it was just his imagination, but that hope soon turned to fact when he felt a magic presense coming quickly in his direction. He muttered a slight curse under his breath, then waited to get a better feel of who it was. Maybe it was just a rookie researcher trying to get some extra credit.

Slowly, Chris hears a sound growing. Unfortunately, it is not a very nice sound, so instead we will say it sounded like [expletive]. And it was being repeated over and over. Suddenly, a figure swung in on the ceiling. He crouched on top of a bar, looking at the punk who had interrupted him. And then he jumped off the beam towards the boy. He was about to hit the ground when the scarf hand steadied itself on the ground, instead holding him about 3 feet off the ground. he lay back in a fold of the scarf, acting like it was a chair.

"Who are you, and why are you, a punk, in an old library like this?" Bel was slightly angry, and his sword was strapped onto his back.

Chris felt the presense grow stronger, and the crude word being spoken louder. It took him a bit to pinpoint it, however when he did he looked up to see the guy jumping from beam to beam. On the last beam he made a jump towards Chris, though aiming more of in front than anything else. Chris instinctually took a step back, then coughed at the dust that the man stirred. He turned his attention back to the man as he asked his questions, keeping his left hand ready at his side. "No offense, but you look more like a punk than I do."

Chris coughed a second time to clear his lungs, then straightened up to face him. "A better question is why are you here in this tower? It's resticted from the general public while the research team is taking a break. I'm here because I recieved special permission to investigate the tower under Jamie Seenter's orders." He knew it was weak to use his grandmother's name as a basis to say 'I can get away with it', but in all honesty it was true. Jamie Seenter was known far and wide for her contributions to the research team in MAR Heaven, and most everyone knew about her ARM shop. If anything it should at least seem like Chris has the authority to be here, and give reason as to why he should be the one to ask the questions.

"whose that? Your mother?" Bel was taunting him.

"You have to rely on your mommy so you don't get in trouble, don't you? ha ha ha ha ha!" Bel leaned back, laughing heartily. The sound echoed in the hall, creating an odd sound.

Bel looked at Chris again:

"now, what are we going to do with you? You found me, but I don't like killing indiscriminately...anymore... I know, how about we fight for something? If I win, I get to stay and do WHATEVER I want. if you win, I will do a favor for you; your choice as to what it is."

Chris looked at the guy a bit quizically, apparently a bit shocked by his answer. It seemed the young man didn't know his grandmother's name, or knew it and didn't care. And now he was challenging Chris to a fight, apparently earning the right to stay here without questions. While Chris didn't have the authority to grant such a request, it looked like the guy wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer. Well if Chris won, he'd just ask the guy to leave anyways. "Alright, I guess."

Taking a deep breath Chris did a quick sweep of the land with his eyes, as if preparing himself for battle. Actually he was looking at the terrain he was going to have to work with, as knowing the lay of the land was 25% of the battle. Another 25% was knowing your opponent, and the final 50% was knowing yourself. This was what Chris was taught, and it was how he fought. Bringing up his left hand, Chris gave Bel a clear view of his ring. "Weapon ARM: Element Ring." A long sword with a gold designed hilt appeared in his hand, ready to be used. Imbedded on each side were two red magic stones, with four additional slots open. He held the sword steadily in his hand in a ready position. "Alright, ready."

"Oh, that was your weapon? i'm sorry; I had honestly thought you were just girly than I thought possible!" Bel had not moved from his position on the scarf. in fact, he seemed to relax even further.

"Arms are so useful though! I love this scarf; it could possibly be the most comfortable weapon ever!' Bel smiled as he said this, then close his eyes and laid back as if to take a nap. He cracked one eye open at Chris.

"You can begin whenever you want. i'm ready." With that Bel put his head back and his body seemed to relax.

Chris looked at the guy rather questioningly, unable to get why the guy seemed so calm. After all, he was the one who issued the challenge. However the more Chris thought about it, the more it began to make sense. The guy was underestimating him, and very strongly by his relaxed position. Judging by how relaxed he was, Chris guessed the guy was pretty confident in his speed. Or was confident in the wierd ARM he was resting on.

Either way the guy gave him an opening, though Chris knew better than take it. Sllowly Chris began to move to the right, just fast enough that his magic power didn't dip through the use of his ARM. His body was a bit more unique than normal people, forcing Chris to move in order to not run out of magic power. However just callng the ARM forth didn't require much power, it was when he actually used it that Chris had to start moving.

When he got to the man's right side, Chris readied his sword. "Version 1, Sword of Flames!" One of the gems erupted in flames, leaping to the blade and encasing it in fire. The fire didn't seem to hurt Chris as it moved, however most ARMs possessed the ability to not harm the user with natural elements. He charged the man and swung his blade, testing to see if one of his two theories was correct.

The scarf stretched, lifting Bel out of reach. It was hit by the blade swung by Chris and merely remained there. To Chris, it felt like he had hit a metal pole or something. And the fire seemed to be ineffective as well. Bel was humming something to himslef now, then got up into a cross legged position:

"Was that your best shot? Because no offense, but it was weak!" Bel continued calling down taunts to Chris, trying to get the kid to become angry and lose his focus.

Chris looked up at the scarf stretching and bringing its user out of reach, rendering his attack ineffective. He gave a slight smile as he realized what happened, as this confirmed one of his theories. Whatever this scarf was, it was strong enough to be used as a weapon. That much was obvious by what Bel said. But now Chris began to understand what he meant, as he continued his slice even though it wouldn't do anything. This momentum gathered the flames into a ball at the tip of his sword, as Chris swung his body around to help with the momentum.

"Not quite..." he finished his spin so that he was now facing the young man again. "That was just a warm up." With that he threw the fireball at the elevated man, sending it slightly below where he perched. If it hit the scarf, then the flames should dissipitate enough to slightly catch the guy. And if he retracted the scarf, he risked the chance of actually getting hit by the fireball. Chris just hoped the scarf didn't get taller, as the flames began to gather back onto the blade of his sword. His magic energy dipped slightly, but since he was moving it wasn't as much as normal.

Bel flopped over backwards and the flames missed. The scarf spread itself out as wide as it could, then Bel was moved forward very fast. In the air the scarf swung around and attempted to knock the sword out of Chris' hands.

"This was given to me by a very special person. You have little chance of beating me with it." Bel was now resting on it cross legged again, and it was folded under him like a coiled spring.

"I think that it would be best if you surrendered."

Chris was surprised at how fast the young man moved, barely having time to steady his sword with his other hand. The flames diappeared before doing so however, which was good since the flames on the blade itself were real. However when Chris blocked the attack with both hands, the metal was cool to the touch. But he wasn't fast enough to stop the disarm, and the sword flew from his hands and landed nearby. It reverted back into its' ring form, having been forcefully removed from Chris's magic.

The 'scarf' retracted, and Chris let out a sigh of relief. He held the sword to his side as the man seemed to relax again after his assault, claiming that Chris should give up. Chris looked at the 'weapon' the man was using, then gave a slight sigh. Apparently he wasn't going to attack Chris again, at least not until Chris retrieved his ring. Chris walked over and picked up his ring, looking at it for a moment before slipping it back on his finger. "You know, you're pretty confident for a guy who claims to be better. Cocky would be a better word, and overconfident in your abilities. Unfortunately that's your biggest downfall."

Chris turned to face the guy again, holding up his ring to eye level. "Guess I'll have to actually fight seriously. Weapon ARM: Element Ring." The ring returned to the sword form, and Chris held it ready. "Version 1, Sword of Flames." The flames lept to the blade, which Chris gathered into the tip with a simple swing. He then threw the fireball at the man again, this time a bit below. There's a good chance the scarf would grow like a beanstock like the first time, rooting itself in place. However like any tall pole that's not cemented in place, it can be tipped if you strike the base. And that's what Chris intended to do as he ran after the fireball. Trip the 'scarf' out from under the man.

The scarf was hit, and Bel had a look of shock on his face as he went falling. Luckily, at the last second, he formed the scarf into what looked like a wheel around him, and bounced away safely. Relatively safely. Except that he ran into a wall. That hurt him.

Getting up from his stunned position on the floor, Bel looked at Chris.

"Overconfidence is a lie. I merely know where my strength lies and where yours does. Do not think you are the only person to study your opponent. My eyes were not closed the entire battle. I have seen a few flaws in your plan."

Bel started walking towards Chris as he was talking.

"First, you rely far too much on analyzing a situation rather than just going with the flow. Knowing your opponent is good, but actually beating them is better." He drew his sword and said the activation phrase. The swords all ended up in the scarf hand, which wrapped itself around the scabbards and held them by Bel's side.

"Second, you cannot deal with changes to the plans you make."

The scarf now wrapped around Bel like a shirt, and the swords hung from the protruding end by Bel's side. Bel quickly put three inside a wrap of the scarf, then proceeded to toss the other ones into the surrounding battlefield.

Bel, now holding only 2 unsheathed swords, began running towards Chris.
