I play both. My first flute was a Student, Silver 22 SP Gemeinhardt. My current flute is a Conservatory, Inline-G, Silver 3SHB Gemeinhardt. And my piccolo is a Silver 4SP Gemeinhardt.
So flute/piccolo players, what's your instrument brand? |

The model number is actually on your flute. Just look at the body (2nd piece) and at the very top (where the head joint goes in). Look under the Gemeinhardt logo and you'll see the model. (It doesn't tell you whether it's a student, conservatory, or professional, though.)
My 22 SP is old and we bought it used. By the time it need some work done on it (and very badly, too) I upgraded to the conservatory 3SHB. Darn flute cost $2000 - and it was on sale, too. |

I'm not sure. But at least your flute's model can still be found on the Gemeinhardt website. My old 22 SP isn't on there.
I'm looking at the site, now. There are some open-holed student flutes. I'm not sure exactly what puts the flutes into the categories. I thought that student flutes didn't have the B-foot joint, but I saw one student Gemeinhardt (3B) that does. And it's also open-holed. |
