Title: Here Thar Be Dragons
Description: Or Kayunas. Or something.

Kayuna Phrotus - January 6, 2010 08:58 PM (GMT)
Dragons.... Kayunas... Kayuna dragons?

Wait, I'm a dragon? When did this happen? Why didn't I get the memo? I need to be informed of these things!

Anyway, I'm a drago- um, Kayuna, and probably the silliest goth you will ever meet. I also happen to roleplay compulsively. And eat villagers.

I hate introducing myself, so pardon the random. It's my attempt at distracting you from the fact that I have no idea what to say. I also blame the coffee and waking up too early. Ah...

(Mob)

Look! Silly smilie! Ninja dragon Kayuna away~

Kayuna! Welcome to Azure Blades!

... I should dig up a picture of our mascot. He's a great big red dragon. He's around somewhere. Probably off chasing virgins and whatnot.

Glad you could make it here! I have to ask, though, what style of 'goth' are you into?

I'm personally a complete sucker for corsetry, lacing and big poofy dresses.
<3 Victorian.

Kayuna Phrotus - January 7, 2010 01:06 AM (GMT)
I'm a mash of just about everything. Mostly Victorian with touches of common goth (huge clunky boots <3 ) and stuff borrowed from from outside influences, mostly steampunk, hippy, tribal, and a number of other things ending in '-punk'. With some actual punk in there, of course. Sometimes.

The Lady Pegasus - January 7, 2010 01:22 AM (GMT)
Mmm. I know what you mean. I tend to make my own style up as I go. Where do you get your stuff from?

(Slice will kill me if he sees this thread. TLP is a girl? NOWAI!)

Kayuna Phrotus - January 7, 2010 01:26 AM (GMT)
I mod most of it- take stuff from thrift stores and modify as I wish. Specific items I have to buy, though, mostly from costume stores. There's also a tiny little goth shop in NYC that I went to once. I got my Dante's Inferno sign from there, which now happily resides above my bedroom door. XD

The Lady Pegasus - January 7, 2010 02:33 AM (GMT)
Ah, to have access to this sort of market...

Over here in Australia, the whole gothic culture is about as underground as it gets. Its hellishly difficult to find anything even remotely to my tastes. However, we do have (IMO) the best corsetry shop ever. Gallery Serpantine. <3 They had make all the corsets they sell, they're beautiful, hard weaing, made-to-order and they feel great. They are a little on the pricey side, though.

I've been looking for a nice skirt to go with my outfit for some time now and, apart from trying to make it myself (I have neither the time nor the place right now) if I was to order it in from the UK, it would cost me nearly a grand. They have some beautiful stuff over there.

Slice, I'm very jealous of your geographical location in relation to my shopping needs! *insert witty smile here*

Kayuna Phrotus - January 7, 2010 02:43 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I've got a few Australian goth friends, and they've all said that Aussie-land is sadly lacking.

A lot of stuff that I actually buy is pricey, so I don't buy it often. I usually make/mod it myself or get one of my friends to. I think I looked at Gallery Serpentine's site once, but I couldn't buy anything. The store in NY was pretty expensive, too, which is why I only bought the sign then. I probably have enough to get a good jacket.

Its pretty sad over here. All the decent clubs that were considered 'goth' in nature got shut down, all the mainstream events got canned. There's now one section, a small strip of shops in one suburb close to the city where you can find a few gothy stores.

I have a kind of similar problem with music. Most bands I listen to never tour in the US. I think the closest I got for one of them was Canada. >< Even if I could make it to the major cities I still couldn't hear them play.

Hey! Don't know how I missed this thread, particularly seeing as I'm mentioned in it twice! XD

Welcome to the forum! I see you're already fitting in, which is great! And I have the exact same problem with my favourite bands. They're always touring America! Tell you what, we'll make a deal. You send me Voltaire and Breaking Benjamin, and I'll give you any band lowly enough to wade their way into my half of the pond ;)

Also, Pegs, the UK is pretty cool for goth stuff, but nerd stuff is sadly lacking. And also my favourite goth shop turned scene kid! D:
I got awesome dragons and gargoyles from there, and I had my eye on an Icarus shirt. HE WAS ON FIRE DX

Ah well. I digress, welcome to AB Kayuna ^^

Kayuna Phrotus - January 8, 2010 01:53 AM (GMT)
You have no Voltaire? Terrible! I'll have to get right on that. Dunno about Breaking Benjamin, though.

That shirt sounds awesome. We have an alternative store around here (goth, punk, nerd, art, pothead...), pretty expensive, but I got some of my room stuff from there. They had a bunch of stuff that I couldn't get, too, but I loved it.

The Lady Pegasus - January 8, 2010 01:59 AM (GMT)
Slice, that's pure blasphemy! Goth shops should NEVER allow themselves to do that. It makes me cry inside.

And hey, I've seen all the English metal mags. You guys get some AWESOME acts over there that don't even think twice about coming out here. Bastards. *shake fist* AAAAND you lot have the Mediaeval Baebes.

*finds a corner and pouts in it*

I don't understand how you could be lacking in nerd-gear, though. Surely there has to be at least a /few/ hobby shops around your way? I mean, we have a stack over here, but you have to know the shop you need. A lot of them sell hobby/craft/minature building supplies which is great for Warhammer nerds (I still haven't set my army up yet) but the more geeky things like Magic, The Gathering cards can only be bought at cons and the like.

I was gonna suggest making a new thread in General Generalities to continue this conversation where more peeps might like to jump in, but I just saw your rant thread Pegs and I think that'll do :P

And yeah, we get much better metal bands than Australia, that's true. But mostly they just come in for individual festivals (Ie, that Download I went to earlier this year) and then go back to touring America! Even our home-grown Iron Maiden, my personal favourite, are always off in Mexico! DX

But as I said, OFF TO THE RANT THREAD!!! :P
