Hey, check this out, my first player video ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbhB7JX1RRE I will be editing it and putting in a lot of text to explain a few things, so this is just some raw footage. Mainly I'm using the KOS hold and the FLO hold (i.e., holding the FLO). Most of the time the balls are orbiting more horizontally than vertically and this allows me to more easily adjust to the rhythm of the music. The string does tend to get pretty twisted up, and then I switch to holding an EB to untwist. I plan to do more videos too. I learned a few things by filming it, and I've order a head cam (!) so stayed tuned ... |

I am surprised no one has commented about this... unless you also posted on Freedo.info.
in that case I guess I will go check Freedo.info from MCC before I fully respond, to see what others think. (since I have been banned my IP address can't visit that site) But overall good look, nice play... well controlled KOS The audio could benefit from an audio swap.... to one continuous sound file. The choppy audio makes the video feel choppy. My suggestion. Myc |

Well Larry
I don't think this post is going to go anywhere on here...... considering that there is another conversation already happening on the other site. but still? I think the idea of becoming a respected TEACHER for the culture of AJ is the desired effect of my KOS. I have come to understand this journey as cyclical, meaning that everyone starts as a STUDENT in any field, but desire to learn will evolve the participant into a TEACHER........ this is the where the "breakthrough" is essential. A good TEACHER will learn from a STUDENT during the coarse of any study, but a MASTER is a STUDENT of their STUDENTS.... the perfect STUDENT. Myc |

Myc,
Since a lot of the Jive Style of play relies on the KOS hold and on using a FLO hold in a KOS-y sort of way (and even on holding the EB and playing in a KOS-y style to get the string untwisted ... no footage of that in this video though), I thought you might want to comment here on technical aspects since Will banned you from www.freedo.info forum. You texted me a message about more technical aspects which maybe I should post ... Happy Orbiting! |

I think we need to meet at a concert and got a idea for next weekend, if I don't go to Heber.... I should know soon.
This next weekend I found a show that I think we may both enjoy in San Fran, it is Or, the Whale; Hello Kavita; The Brothers Comatose at Cafe Du Nord 2170 Market (at Sanchez) San Francisco, CA 861-5016 http://www.cafedunord.com The headliner is Or, the Whale, never heard of them but it seams cool. check their myspaces: http://www.myspace.com/orthewhale http://www.myspace.com/hellokavita http://www.myspace.com/thebrotherscomatose What would you think about meet me in SF if you have the time? You supply the Blue Diamonds? because I could not tell you wear mine went...... I would try to make a weekend of it if I can make it up there, I will look for hotel options and check with Lindsey's Aunt...... for a roof This is very impromptu planning here. I have never heard any of these bands, but I figure to meet at a concert it would have to be something that we both would enjoy.... I thought this might be along your line of influences, ever hear of any of these bands? I think you have a good grasp on the KOS and the FORCE and FEEL distinctions, but all of this would far more fun to do in the same room. All this forum chatting seems fake to me now. because the only reason I came on here was because you asked me to post some responses that I texted you, to try to involve myself back in the community since being banned from the Ciz forum... I assume. I have been trying to teach my words and language since long before Ciz came into the community and now he gets the right to tell me that conversations that have included the MSS language are his competition..... this just goes to show me that the forum teaching does work, I have "missed" my target. for this reason I suggested that we video exchange, now that you are youtubing..... this way the lessons I will film will have a target, you Larry. Maybe if you tell me what I could explain for you in a video and I will post a video response? do you want to know more about FORCE and FEEL? Where did KOS come from and how did it get the name? I don't know...... maybe how do you use KOS when you dance? want to ask me something Larry? I want to help, this has always been and is still my focus...... the players that want to learn. It just come to a point that I have no Ethos with the community, I should have stepped up in the past and acted on my impulse to repair and/or follow up the huge commercial launch AJ once had..... but I feel timing is crucial and the way you enter into a market is just as vital as what market to target. I think timing is right, for both the way I want to re-introduce AJ to the massesand how I will target the Circus and Science markets for exposure. questions: What year was AJ in discover mag and when did Astrojax win the toy award? I am sure you have footage of things that happened in the past that no one has seen..... how about releasing some footage of the aircraft carrier orbit or any news appearances you may have made during this journey. This is all off topic.... but on this site it no longer matters, it appears to be just us. Myc |

Hi Myc,
You're welcome to come to SF any weekend I'm in town and we'll hit some clubs with Blue Diamonds. We should talk details by email or phone. Hopefully this forum will not be completely abandoned. Maybe as the community grows this will be repopulated and fill some sort of niche. (I guess it is already filling a niche of sorts.) I think I'm now off on a somewhat new track in terms of play. I mainly use your KOS hold and what I call the FLO hold. With the FLO hold, it's very KOS-y because I frequently have my left hand in the two segments of string and play in a very KOS-y style. I've ordered a head cam since I think I'm doing some new things with my fingers during play, especially in the FLO hold. I'll be posting some videos in a month of so. I do have a few old videos. I suppose I should post them--they're not really too exciting but I suppose they are historical. As for Discover Magazine, I think it was 1996. I'll check. Happy Orbiting! |

so i looked at it alittle more and I really like the beginning, i guess its my style coming out is the reason why but I really like how you seem to use your whole arm almost while in that hold, it really looks cool especially with the negative effect

Thanks jammerock! Indeed, what I like about the style is that it's very rhythmically flexible so you can get your whole body involved and dance. I'll be posting more video soon!

very cool
much better flow with one audio and longer clips pretty sweet. Your jive style is very much how I started, before I ever knew the name Astrojax... it is just a cause and effect type dance, I like your evolution! Myc |

Very cool!
I wish I had some of that style man. It looks like you had a lot of fun out there and you have refound your flow Larry. In NY you were doing some of that but not with the confidence and control your using now. Can't wait for some more! |

Thanks jaysim! Yeah, I playing somewhat like that at Toy Fair and I'd been doing a crude version of that for a while. What really helped it come together was Burning Man and EarthDance where I really let loose and jaxed and danced almost the whole time.
I've been experimenting with my head cam lately. I tried filming last night in the club with it, but I spin around too much and I think it will make everyone sea sick. So I'll try filming in a big open space, probably the beach, with a bunch of head lamps on to light my hands. (The environment won't be as visible so the spinning should be easier to stomach!) |
