Karo Tevas - During his traditional High Summer speech this afternoon, Chief Dylan revealed that for the first time in almost fifty years, the Great Moot would be convened to resolve the crisis of succession. "It is not appropriate for Kriovallers to go without a national leader for so long," the Dekker Chief said, noting the several-year interregnum. "I have always intended to act merely as caretaker for the throne, and I want to say right now that the new monarch will almost certainly not be a Dekker. It is time for new leadership." The Chief indicated that a date would be set for the Moot within the next few days, pending arrangements with the Senate and other Chiefs. The location has been set for the former royal capital of Torokara.
Early polls indicate that there is strong but not overwhelming support for the Great Moot, with most of the opposition coming from more conservative holds. Their main complaint echoes their consistent worries about the rapid liberalization of Krioval and their general distrust of the Dekker-Vartek-Telovar bloc. While the Dova tribe managed to avoid forcible disbanding after the assassination of Kara and Darvek Tyvok two years ago by one of their members, their position as anchor of the Conservative Alliance has diminished considerably and the Alliance has failed to establish itself as a strong political force. Further angering the conservatives is the inclusion of the newly convened Viklanders, who are likely to vote in accordance with the liberals. Markets are closed in observance of the holiday today, but off-hours trading has generated a small but noticeable decline in the rolling average, possibly due to the uncertainty as to whether the Moot will deliver a strong consensus figure or whether the partisan infighting that has nearly sidelined tribal life from the public sphere will dominate. In other, but related, news, the Royal Raiment was verified as authentic after careful analysis during the past several months. It was recovered in a ruin on Terran Krioval last year after an expedition... OOC: I'm planning to do a sort of RP some time in the next few weeks dealing with Krioval electing a new king/queen. There's sure to be all sorts of intrigue (at least if AOers and our friends show up!). More to come as I have time. |

It's finally started. Here are the links to relevant NS forum locations:
