You don't necessarily have to read this to know how to act on a forum. But if you have doubts or questions, this is the place to look.

If you see anyone violating the rules in any way on this forum, press the Report button and moderators will be notified. Misuse of the Report button may get you frozen.

GENERAL

1. Treat others as you would treat yourself. In other words, be respectful of others on the boards.

2. There will be no flaming, cursing, swearing, or badouthing to others anywhere on the site.

3. If there is a problem/mistake with any PM saying that you violated the rules, please contact the moderator that send it to you and we'll try to work it out.

4. You may not have more than one forum account. If you have multiple usernames associated with Neopets, then please put them into your account info.

5. Do not ask to be a moderator. We watch people on the forums and if you look like a model member, we may send you a PM asking you if you'd like to be a moderator or not. Or if you'd really like to become a moderator, please go to this post. (If it is open)

6. Links in the homepage section of your profile must not be to any other guilds. No sites containing adult images. These links may not given out in other posts either.

How Warnings Work:
3 warnings = 3 day ban from the site
4 warnings = 7 day ban
5 warnings = permanent ban from the site. You may also be banned from the guild depending on what your offenses were.

Warnings can be removed from your account by showing good behavior for extended periods of time; About a month. (Depending on what your offenses were)

Post moderation means that your topics and replies will have to be approved by a moderator before others can see them.

1 official warning = 3 day post moderation
2 official warnings = 7 day post moderation
3 official warnings = 30 day post moderation
4 official warnings = Unlimited post moderation

MORE SERIOUS OFFENCES

7. No posts telling how to hack someone's account, or scams asking for pins/passwords. There is also no discussions talking about loaning accounts or the purchase of accounts.

8. Posting or asking for viruses or other related programs in discussions, links, and images is strictly forbidden.

9. No posting any graphic or sexual material. Keep all content appropriate.

10. Staff issues that are supposed to remain confidential must remain within the knowledge of the staff! If a staff member or former staff member discusses any confidential information with you about the guild or the site, you are to notify an administrator immediately.

11. It is often very frustrating when someone steals another's work, so please no stealing. Using ANY work from someone else and claiming it as your own is called plagarism. If you'd like to use another person's work, please ask them first, and credit them wherever you are using it.

POSTING

12. Remember to post in the correct boards. We know that sometimes posting in the wrong forum can happen on accident, but please read the description of each board before posting in a forum.

13. Do not type a whole post in UPPERCASE LETTERS. This can get very annoying in posts, and often gives the immpression of yelling. It's also just plain rude.

14. Do not spam. Spam posts can and will be removed by moderators.

Spam includes:

14a. One word responses. Do not post a reply message with one word in it unless necessary for the post.
14b. Posting the same topic/post repeatedly in the same or different places.
14c. Putting the word "Bump" in topics. This may be allowed in Neopets, but it is not allowed here.
14d. Posts not related to the topic at hand.

15. No posting topics or replies that look like they might start flaming. Do not post topics/replies that might disrespect another's religion or political beleifs. Also refrain from posting these things in your signature or profile.

16. No moderating unless you are a moderator. This means not telling rule-breakers they are breaking the rules. Do not post saying things like "wrong board" or "spam". Just press the report button on the rule-breaking post and leave it at that.

17. No advertising for other guilds or their websites. Other Neopets-related links however, are acceptable.

18. Do not post links that might lead to innapropriate content or extensive pop-ups.

IMAGES & FILE SIZE LIMITS

19. We will not put any specific restrictions for now because no one has put any outragously large images (or images with large filesizes) on their signature yet. We'd hate it for someone to spoil it for everyone else, so please keep the images and filesizes reasonable! This means not to put up an image in your signature that slows down your computer or takes up half of the screen. Be reasonable!

20. Images with graphic or other adult content are strictly forbidden. If there's an image that you're not sure about, don't hesitate to ask an admin/mod.

21. Any thread that has over 100kb total in images must put something like "LARGE IMAGES!" on the title/subtitle of the topic to warn others with slower computers and hopefully help them aviod freezing up their computer. This is due to the fact that some people use dial-up.

To check file size:
If you are using a PC (not a MAC or Linux machine), using Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE or MSIE), Right click on the picture and select properties. This will tell you filesize in bytes. Divide the bytes by 1024 to get the size in k or kilobytes. It will also tell you the dimensions of the image. If you are on a MAC or a Linux box, you will have to use whatever method your browser uses to find this info.
