I cant take credit for this I was taught in Church but wanted to share it. Why was Jesus born in a little town of Bethlehem? What does that mean? Most think it really didnt mean anything. It was just a prophecy and that is the only significant reason it was Chosen. Or he came in humble beginning and it was just a small place and not special.
Gen 35:16-20. Here we read about Rachel. They had traveled to Ephrath which is Bethlehem. Here she died in Childbirth. She called out to name the child Ben Oni which means "carries our sorrow" or "man of sorrow". But his father named him Benjamin which means son of my right arm. The book of Ruth tells us how Naomi and Ruth traveled and came upon Bethlehem. It was here Ruth gets redemption. Boaz becomes her Kinsman redeemer. King David was born and annointed in Bethlehem. (1 Samuel) The Field where Jesus's birth is announced is the same field David learned to play the harp in. The word Bethlehem means "House of Bread" John 6:31 "And Jesus said to them 'I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst" The Bread of life was born in the House of Bread and was our Right hand man who sits at the right hand of God and carried our sorrows, He is our Redeemer and he is our King. He also like David beat his own "giant" He beat Satan with a piece of wood while David used a rock to slay a giant.. God has a purpose and plan and sit it in motion hundreds of years before. He has a plan for our lives and just because we may think the move isnt important. The new job isnt important. We are wrong. |
