As reported in a Boulder newspaper:
Boulder’s own “American Idol,” Ace Young, is now a Grammy-nominated songwriter. The nominees for the 50th annual Grammy Awards were announced today in Los Angeles, and among the contenders in the best rock song category is Chris Daughtry’s “It’s Not Over,” cowritten by Daughtry, Fairview High School grad Young (credited as Brett Young, his given name), Gregg Wattenberg and Mark Wilson. “It’s unreal,” Young said of the nomination this afternoon. “It’s one thing to be able to work with the people I’ve been able to work with on my album, from Desmond Child to Diane Warren to Daughtry, but to be able to have a Grammy nomination before I even come out with my album is unreal. "As a writer it really means a lot to have the success before you have the album come out.” Young, who was eliminated from “Idol” in April 2006, has been readying his debut album since then. It’s currently due for release — on his own label — in March or April. Among his collaborators are Daughtry, who returns the cowriting favor; songwriter and producer Child, who has worked with Aerosmith, Bon Jovi and Ricky Martin; power-ballad expert Warren, who has written for Cher, Michael Bolton, TLC, Whitney Houston and scores of others; and Swedish songwriter Andreas Carlsson, who has written songs for Backstreet Boys, ’NSync and Britney Spears. Young said he hopes to book a nationwide tour in support of the album next summer. -------------------- ![]() |

I had hoped the release might be tied into the Grammy Awards show, but maybe they are waiting to see if he wins so they can put it on the CD cover.
Might boost sales. -------------------- ![]() |
